Tinnitist = Darryl Sterdan aka Canada's most-followed music critic. According to his readers, he is an idiot with zero taste. He is just jealous of pop stars because he is old, ugly, uncool and has less talent in his whole body than they have in their little fingers. That’s why he lives in Canada and has wasted his pathetic life reviewing stupid albums and acting like he’s so smart. Well, guess what? He’s not. Seriously, who does he think he is? When has he ever made an album, gone on tour or won an award? And what’s with that gross beard? He should do the world a favour and get a real job because he sucks at this one.
Tinnitist TV | Ontarians
Sophomore albums are often a case of diminishing returns. Not for The Ontarians. Their second release More How It Is lives up its title in more ways than one. Not only does it take up where the Canadian roots-rockers left off on their 2021 debut The Greatest Short Story Never Told - it also ups the ante with deeper lyrics, richer production and songs that wouldn't be out of place on a Tom Petty album. Not bad for a band formed by two singer-songwriters who don't even live in the same town. Shortly after More How It Is landed, the band’s co-founders Frank Deresti and Craig Smith Zoomed in from their respective homes to talk about long-distance relationships, their on-the-nose band name and plenty more. Enjoy.

Tinnitist TV | Frank Turner

I caught up to Frank Turner on an eventful week in his life - for better and very possibly worse. On the upside: The folk-punk singer-songwriter and veteran road dog was enjoying himself while touring the U.S. and Canada for his 10th studio album Undefeated - and putting the finishing touches on plans for his ambitious multi-night festival Lost Evenings, which was being held in Toronto for the ...
Tinnitist TV | Hot Mud

Hot Mud isn't the first artist to make an album about going to rehab. But he might be the first one to actually make an album while in rehab. The Ottawa indie pop-rocker who goes by the name of Muddy Watters recorded his debut album - fittingly titled Rehab Rock - while staying at a treatment facility. Now, after turning his life around, he's enjoying the so-called pink cloud of fresh sobriety....
Tinnitist TV | Micah Erenberg of The Secret Beach

You don't have to be a Manitoban to appreciate The Secret Beach's new album. But it helps. We Were Born Here, What's Your Excuse? - the sophomore full-length from singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Micah Erenberg and his loose musical collective - takes its title from a Simpsons sight gag about Winnipeg. And many of its songs are about Erenberg's relationship with the city an...
Tinnitist TV | Jacob Johnson

Some people are singer-songwriters. Others are guitar heroes. Jacob Johnson can go either way. The South Carolina musician is nothing short of a fretboard wizard, as you can see from multiple UA-cam videos that showcase his Van Halen-level pyrotechnics on acoustic guitar. But along with that prowess, he's also a talented troubadour whose smart, sharply crafted tunes help him stand out in the cr...
Tinnitist TV | Tom Savage & David Barbe

Tom Savage is the singer-guitarist at the helm of Canadian rock band Dead Root Revival. David Barbe is the veteran American musician and producer who has worked with everyone from Bob Mould to R.E.M. to Drive-By Truckers. Together, they could be the members of an awesome duo called Savage Barbe (or Barbe Savage, depending on who wants top billing). But they aren't. In fact, Barbe produced Dead ...
Tinnitist TV | Mike Boguski of Blue Rodeo

Mike Boguski's new album is not his first rodeo. And certainly not his main one. That honour goes to Blue Rodeo, of course. Boguski has played piano and organ for the Canadian country-rock legends since 2008. But if you're expecting honky-tonk fare on his latest solo set Goodbye To Yesterday / Here’s To Tomorrow, you're in for a surprise. Its half-dozen tracks find the restlessly creative m...
Tinnitist TV | Sammy Volkov & Dana Wylie

Gram and Emmylou. George and Tammy. Dolly and Porter. If any of these names have a place on your playlist or in your heart, it's high time you added Sammy and Dana to the mix. As in Sammy Volkov and Dana Wylie. Granted, these two Edmonton singer-songwriters and actors are a long way from Nashville. But that hasn't stopped them from teaming up to record one of the coolest country collaborations ...
Tinnitist TV | Will Kimbrough

There's an old saying: Jack of all trades, master of none. Clearly, whoever coined it never met Will Kimbrough. This Alabama singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer obviously has an impressive musical skill set - and he's second to none in all respects. His songs have been covered by Jimmy Buffett, Little Feat, Todd Snider, Jack Ingram, Gretchen Peters and many others. He's produced albums fo...
Tinnitist TV | Hannah Fairlight

Hannah Fairlight is not really a lone wolf. But she has played one onscreen. You might know the Nashville performer from her acting roles in Pitch Perfect 3 (where she played the antagonistic rocker Veracity) and the reality TV series Crazy Hearts: Nashville (where she was painted as a manipulative, ambitious wannabe country star). In actual reality, Fairlight is neither of these characters. Th...
Tinnitist TV | Dennis Ellsworth & Leeroy Stagger

Some albums are timely. Others are timeless. Modern Hope, the latest full-length from Dennis Ellsworth, manages to be both. As you might gather from the optimistic title, the prolific P.E.I. singer-songwriter spends much of the disc trying to find and hold onto light in the darkness that threatens to engulf our world. But here's the interesting rub: He sets those of-the-moment sentiments agains...
Tinnitist TV | Pearl Harbour

There are great albums that everyone knows. And then there are great albums almost no one has heard. Singer-songwriter Pearl Harbour's second full-length Don't Follow Me, I'm Lost Too belongs the second group. It's certainly not for lack of talent - along with Pearl's powerhouse vocals, the 1980 release boasts an all-star British backing band featuring members of The Clash, Ian Dury's Blockhead...
Tinnitist TV | Peter Holmström of The Dandy Warhols
Переглядів 5318 місяців тому
Life is fine for Dandy Warhols guitarist Peter Holmström these days. And no wonder. He and his Portland bandmates just released their dozenth album Rockmaker - a dark, heavy and claustrophobic outing that marks another artistic rebirth for the creatively restless psychedelic rockers. That rejuvenation goes double for Holmström, who wrote, engineered and produced most of the album one-on-one dur...
Tinnitist TV | Vegas DeMilo
Переглядів 318 місяців тому
Plenty of groups come back from hiatus. Vegas DeMilo might be the first to come back from self-imposed exile. Sort of. Here's the deal: Back in the ’90s, this San Francisco band released three albums, toured heavily and took their shot at the brass ring. But like a lot of bands, they ended up packing in their rock-star dreams for the reality of day jobs and families. Then, also like a lot of ba...

Stan Warnow is not a professional musician. He's actually a filmmaker and editor whose resumé includes the Woodstock documentary, the No Nukes concert film, the classic B-movie Honeymoon Killers, Saturday Night Live and tons more. But even though he might be more at home at the Oscars or Emmys, Stan is heading for the 66th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. He's going because his late father ...

Doroschuck writes material that's very heartfelt. He's never just grinded stuff out like he was being "forced" to. He's a very good composer and listeners have always been to hear his messages through the dance rhythms. No matter what, since I heard the POP GOES THE WORLD album, I will always want to hear what this man puts out.
I can attest that "I talked to that guy."
Wonderful new album!!!
A great interview...thanks...
Where does Nash live??
Thank you! Great interview. Basia is so lovely. And living in Nürnberg I really love the Iggy Pop poster ;-)
I fkn love that guy. Thank you for this interview. His tenure w Linda in ‘76-‘79 is some of my fave sht. The Offenbach, Germany Rockpalast ‘76 film is just awesome. Her best lineup ever: Waddy, Andrew, Walsh, Botts, Kenny and Dugmore. Do check it out!
Great interview
Thanks for doing this interview, and thanks to Ed and Nash for taking the time to do the interview!!! I'm really looking forward to receiving my "Oui" CD and a couple of autographed "Oui" postcards from the UO store.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good interview!
"It has to be good"...lol!
