I never like there transmission alsono fenders
Love them old 2cyls. Simple, strong and dependable.
My family found it better to play with the gear shift before shifting.
get a tripod !
This brought back memories. My father had a John Deere 60. I wish I could have gotten it when he passed away.
Worst video on the net.
Wonderful!!!!
That tractor is messed up! I’m 60 grew up on one.
What do you mean by its messed up ?
Exactly rite!!! My dad had a 60, we never engaged the clutch to start it, never had a shifter issue either!!! It started right up, on my dads, there was weights welded on the brake handles, so you just stepped on the brake and they released!!!
It looks just like mine except for the exhaust is back
My dad had a john deere b and we got it now after he passed away. Needs some work but i love the ole two cylinder john deeres. We also have a 720 diesel as well that needs tlc. Thanks for the video, i know this is an older vid, but couldnt resist seeing one on an old 60 :) its amazing how advanced those tractors gotten between the earlier letter series to the later series
That "rebar" is actually factory. You arent missing anything as far as that goes. After you take it off it goes on the end of the bar parallel with the tractor to make a clean line kinda like a marker so you know where to put the other end of the bar on the next pass. It helps clear away the cut grass from the uncut because they suck at cutting when you try and run thru already cut greens.
The 60 was a good machine. Set the clutch up properly and nudge it as needed rather than ramming on the shifter. A fun surprise: it is possible to break the clutch lever off when you think you are going to disengage it. If you're in tight quarters, you'll need to think and move fast. Don't ask how I know but I'll say it ended without incident lol.
Nice Deere
Nice tractor
Idle it lower to shift if its sticking !
What number/brand of three point was that??
I have a 50, 60, 70 and R in my shed at home my father bought them all brand new in the 50's the 70 is the tractor I learned to drive on.
I'm starting to get a model 620 running, it needs batteries so I can see how it cranks and to see if I have spark then on to cleaning the fuel tank.
You can pull start them if your starter is junked. I pull started my 60 for a couple of months until I pulled the flywheel off so I could remove the rotted starter bolts. It’s way nicer having a starter
Welp I rebuilt the carb new batteries and it fires and runs, needs adjustment but runs. The 58 johndeere 620 lives after 16 years
i cant find my fly wheel cover to mine..took it of years ago to fix the starter and never put it back on
I'd much rather look at the tractor than the ground
I have a few questions for you about the sickle bar
What's your questions
tractor enthusiasts could you get me some measurements of the pitman arm strap and the wrist pin I need to build these parts to make my sickle bar operational
Not trying to be rude but yanking on the shifter is the worst thing you can do if it won't shift. Pull the clutch back and pull the throttle back and make it idle and then shift it. Trust me I learned real fast to not do that.
I dont do that regularly i was parcked on a hill the camera doesnt pick it up and i should have shifted like that but i also had my camera in my hand thank you for your comment and view
My dad leased land to a neighbor who had a Model 60. They had me drive when I was 10 as they picked rocks.
This was the first tractor i ever drove when i was 8 years old, i love running old equipment
@@tractorenthusiasts6352 My father had a JD dealership back in the 80's had quite a few old model 50, 60, & 70 Diesel with a pony motor. It need the pony rebuilt.
