Prayer IV
This series will be looking at the importance of prayer in the church and in our lives as individuals. After learning about how we pray last week, we now turn our attention to who we pray for. We are called to pray for others. This is critical to not become too self-centered in our prayer life. We need to pray for our brothers and sisters. Listen to this message, and let us know what you think.

This message looks at the consistency of the Word of God and how it has one main theme all the way throughout. We look at how the scripture has its fulfillment in one man, Jesus Christ. This sermon is based out of Leviticus 1 where God begins to describe the sacrifices of the law in the Old Testament. But then we will look at the significance of the sacrifice in relationship to the Tabernacle o...
4:39 - not to interrupt you - (good sermon thus far) - but (change of subject) - If you haven't seen TWISTERS, this is an absolute movie-of-perfection, imho. And there's an OK connection... but more importantly, a "Glory of God to conceal a matter" connection. Look for lines - "You have no faith, Praveen." - and "it's part science, part religion" (followed by a sign of pointing upward) - and then in the finale, a Moving/stepping-out-in-Faith, believing, in What God Calls to do - "Letting Go" of the Reigns/the steering wheel, knowing that you Cannot manage the control of things. This movie mixes the reality of Yhwh-God with the reality of Life and Maturity, in a way which is subtle and right - SO Much Courage, So much Bravery is seen. I highly recommend. And One Last Note: Jesus is NOT DONE... telling stories.
Powerful and moving stuff. Thanks for sharing!
Praise the Lord!
If I may, since I'm mentioned, I'm here to be witness (bear with me it might be a little long but I believe it will edify you who read):
1) 11:31 I'm the dad in that story (and I'm moved by that lovely introduction). And, first, we're amazed of her development, not just in ICU, taking no more care than protocol and having a doctor that works there telling us this just doesn't happen in our case (it's another miracle!), but also up to her age now, and counting, as she's ahead of common in so many things and so perfectly healthy! And, second, being that we were there to basically just wait until she grew 34 weeks total, we were able to comfort some families right there, along with praying for them. Church also grew a little closer together through this. And this story had let us to testify of God much more, in radio and through internet channels (story circled back and we had people in ICU that were praying for us without knowing it was us)! Those are enough answers to why for me and, though not what we plan, I'd take the exact again same just for those!
2) And, here I am, up from a year of a now not answered why: I lost my 2nd daughter at birth a year and a week ago. Yes, the same me. I was ready even for resurrection there, right in that same surgical center as before, right beside that same ICU! Oh, I would testify!... But no miracle this time. Still, through sorrow and grief, the Lord did make the whole thing the smoothest possible, at the moment and on, now making us the comforted ones, beyond I could imagine! And that loss, still felt hard deep down to this day, doesn't change an inch of God's greatness for us: we know from decades' experience "my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth" (Job 19:25) and we still tell you He knows better, knows all things and has all in His control, is sovereign and is good. ... "The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD.” (Job 1:21)
3) Along with what's pointed out in this video, I'd add that the Lord (title intentionally used here, as reminder of who He is -- and who we are) also allows bad things: to correct us (Heb.12:5-13) and, as Jer.12 came to mind, to strengthen us (v.5), to bring about repentance (v.15-16), and/or for judgement (v.17).
So, as James ch.4 says, may you who read, too, "submit to God" (v.7), lay down your pride and your plans for His (v.13-15), and "humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up" (v.10).
Actually the Hypostatic union as defined in Chalcedon did not make a whole lot of sense. It painted a Nestorian figure, yet said the both natures existed together in one person without division, yet without mergence and without one interfering with the other, a paradox. How does omniscience and partial knowledge exist in the same person? So if Jesus did not know the day or the hour of his return, they say he didn't know in his human nature. Okay, so why didn't he just pop over to his divine nature and tell us when he's coming back? So, a better understanding is when in the flesh he kept his spiritual identity as the Logos, but became a man, given the Holy Spirit without measure, and did teachings and miracles, not by his own power, but the Holy Spirit, directed by the Father. After his ascension he now has the fulness of the attributes of deity in him.
