Hi Nick, I just found your channel. Good stuff. I was an English teacher in Prague in 1991. Things were a lot different then and the resources for learning Czech were quite limited, though my friends and students did learn to be careful when talking around me since I was sometimes able to pick up on what they were saying. Anyway, I am curious how long you studied Czech and if you had studied any other Slavic languages before, too. Did you take classes in CR or are you self taught? Many thanks!

-uji conjugation is not common for ja, in Czech. More common is -uju. But other than that, great vid!

Hi, you accent is perfect. I can hear slang suffixes and prague accent. So it leads me to these ideas. 1. You are kidding us 2. You were born (to anybody from US/GB... and you are bilingual) or grow up in CZ 3. you have an excellent talent for languages, because our accent and pronunciation is not easy for non slavic foreigners. In that case I'd have to say sorry.

This language share many words with Ukrainian and Russian languages, so who knows those two shouldn't have a problem to speak with Czech people.

I´m mexican and for some reason when i listen a czech speaking i fall in love for the language, after that i started to learn more about the czech republic and i hope one day visit if don´t work in that amazing country!

Rád pozoruju to video

I was looking for apps to learn Czech but the only one winner is duolingo because of system repeating all the time and back to old lessons. There is only two more interesting but is almost impossible to learn if you don't manually repeat hundred of times same lessons by alone. Ling and Mondly.

I can honestly say this is the best tip I've had in a long time. Why? Because it's just such an amazing tool for helping to identity grammatical elements such as cases. Here's an example. 1. You can click on a word that is already cased eg: A word in the 4th case. It will then bring up a popup showing you the word in the nominal case. This alone is very impressive because I have yet to see any other tool do this. 2. Now you can click through to an external dictionary (Glosbe) and it will tell you the gender of the nominative noun. 3. Now you can click a link labelled grammar - lo and behold it shows you the nominative noun and it's declinations in all the 7 cases. For anyone learning Czech this is a big deal, I do not believe there is any other tool on the market that can do this. It means I can finally practice cases and check my answers immediately and at the same time develop a feeling for the vocabulary. And that's just one thing this tool can do. It also has examples of a word with audio playback that is actually pronounced correctly, correctly enough to study pronunciation from. I have no idea what engine they're using for this, but sounds to me like a native speaker. Again very impressive. Seriously good tip!

Asi jsem tady v mensine, ale moc se mi to libi, kdyz mluvis prirozene o takovych tematech :) Tyhle videa, ve kterech mluvis pomalu jsou bezchybne uzitecna pro zacatecniky, ale jsem rad, ze mas jeste neco pro nas "pokrocile" :D Pri sledovani tveho videa jsem si jeste vsiml, jak mi chybi zvuk ceskeho jazyka v mem kazdodennim zivote!!
