ASIC Miner Heater - Whole house fan and Automation
Переглядів 3062 роки тому
The ASIC miner heater successfully heated my house all winter. Now wanted to make the system act as a whole house fan while still keeping the miners cool and noise-free. In this video I go over the automations I built to put the fan in exhaust mode only when certain conditions were met. Also I explain my automated smoke/fire suppression and notifier. Please like, share and subscribe if you foun...
ASIC Miner Heater - 1 month Results
Переглядів 3802 роки тому
I now have 1 month of data from my bitcoin miners heating my house. Here I dissect the data to give an idea of the viability of this solution. Remember, Bitcoin mining is subject to bi-weekly blockchain difficulty adjustments and price fluctuation which will drastically affect mining performance. ASIC Miner Heater - Mine Bitcoin while heating your home!

Come along with me on my journey of building a system that harnesses the waste heat of Bitcoin miners to completely heat the upstairs of my house. I take you step by step through design, testing, and building the system so that you can start using bitcoin mining to heat your home. Hey how's this thing been holding up? Feel like you get any savings / value out of it?
Hey mate very nice work, did you ever look in to counterflow heat exchanger ? On paper it is appealing as the two air paths do not mix so in the case of anything burning or smelling it would not go throughout the house ?
Bro what would you recommend me to buy to star mining bitcoin.
Waste of money.
Boom! Great build
Grest stuff dude
What's your electricity bill?
Nice work brother !
Keep it up!
3,1kwh miner is able to heat 70m2 house by using drycooler when winter is about -5degresee?
I would think you would need more than 3kw if temps are consistently -5C
@@techengineer9589 thx, I want to use heat boiler of 150l water and heat house by using drycooler we will see :)
This is the way !
Amazing work!
Hey brother 👋🏻 lurking to get videos for the collage, nice shirt 😉
Dude your videos are great! Can't wait to see more!
Great data! Thank you
Thank you for recording and explaining your work! Instant follow!
Hell yeah, this is sweet
Nice! never thought about using the air pulling capacity to cool the house, would be interesting to get some data on how much this actually cools your house
Yes it would, although very hard to get that data. It is only a 735 CFM fan, while most whole house fans are 1500-2500+ CFM . The idea here is that it is a low constant negative pressure on the house, so the cool night air will slowly pull in all night. And it's silent!
When in non heat mode, are you pulling in fresh air from outside? I kinda saw it in your drawing but not in your setup.
No, just from attic. Through a filter.
@@techengineer9589 On non heat mode it would be more efficient to just shut down the mining since profitability is negative when the heat is not being used. Also mining only when needing heat would make a pretty strong case against those who say bitcoin is bad for the environment.
This is amazing. Precisely the setup I was trying to build. Im in Southern Canada and wanted to make use of the extra heat in the HVAC system. When you have the Stage 1 Heat (Miner heat) going into the cold air return and the Stage 2 heat comes on, is there an issue with the furnace heating already hot air?
Thanks for this, man. Working on getting electric situated at my house for a goal of about 20 S19j Pros. Probably won't get 20 but trying. Did you do the electric all yourself? It'c currently my biggest struggle at the moment cause electrician alone will cost between $7k - $20k depending on what I choose. Your vid is very inspiring
Sounds like a fun project for sure. I had an electrician install the 220V circuit as I wanted to make sure that part was done correctly. I did install the 220V zwave controller, however. Thanks for the feedback!
Good stuff, love it
Isn't a computer case (or your box lol) supposed to be under positive pressure, not a vacuum? I don't mean that rudely. I just meant that in a helpful way. I saw a video (LTT) where they were testing a case with airflow and they had a big graphics card in and it cause a lot of.. well.. bad airflow and completely made the components not cool sufficiently. But maybe the shear volume and cfm you're pushing makes that not matter? Idk. Just thought I'd share that.
So, that may be true for certain computer cases, but the point is cooling the chips. The chips don't care as long as they are cooled effectively. The antminers themselves have a push and pull fan making lots of airflow across the chips. The larger fan is then evacuating all that hot air from the larger box they sit in.
The S9's would run much better with positive pressure.
Great video! This is next level.
Thanks Cameron!
This is awesome. Inspirational is maybe a better way to put it.
Thank you sir. It has been a fun project. Trying to make this accessible to anyone to build.
Bravo
Great Video. LOVE THAT SHIRT!
Haha thanks
This is pretty cool
Thank you
Awesome use of technology for multiple purposes... I am just getting into the Crypto world and will consider this for my future! Thanks Tech Engineer!
Thanks for watching!
