Spring has sprung and so have the runners! While most of the growth in the forest since planting has come from the clumpers, the runners have finally started to send up shoots this month. I filmed this on March 1st, but apparently forgot to upload it until the end of the month when I began planning for the April update. The good news is that there has been new growth throughout March and you won't have to wait long until the April video to see it. I'm currently only measuring brand new culms, so every cane that is measured in this video was not visible above the soil in February.

This winter has been cold and wet in the Sonoran Desert. The bamboo have received plenty of water, but some of the tropical varieties have not faired so well. Several of the plants have put on several feet of new growth in the last month.

Every Arizona schoolchild knows the 5 Cs and lemons are an excellent example. Our little lemon tree produces hundreds of lemons every year here in the Sonoran Desert.
