Ok here's my tuppence worth It is a fact that most horse races are won by the first 4 in the betting however it is also a fact that ONLY 34% of First Favourites win, (this includes odds on shots), lets go deeper The worst day for favourites to WIN is a Saturday, The best races to LAY are class 5 or 6 handicap races with 8 runners or more, on the ALL WEATHER the last race of the day is the best for Laying the Favourite, AW Handicap races Class 6 (F,G) Going - Slow or Standard, ideally 10 runners or more, Track - Newcastle is worst for Favourites winning, 5 furlongs or shorter, starting price 2/1 - 4/1 , weight 11st 6 - 11st 9, 6 year olds, so there you go there's a lot of ACTUAL stats which will help you in LAYING Favourites with just a little risk, you should also have a betting strategy and stick to it, i.e say you used the Fibonacci system , you would bet "Units" 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,144,233 you should also have a target in mind with your bank roll, i.e say you start with 500 you should aim to win 20% (100) of that and bank it and keep doing that until you get 500 of the bookies money then you are betting with their money I do hope this helps and good luck, oh and my STRONG advice is DO NOT lay the 1st 4 in the betting there's too muck risk in it.
