I love the history of the Bible when it comes to Hosea and Gomer. When Hosea states that there will come a day when people come to God because of His goodness and not his wrath. In those times God’s people would stray from Him and only come back to Him after He unleashed His wrath upon them. People turn to God now because of His love of mankind that was displayed through His Son, Jesus.

I love how the OT points toward Christ and is a foreshadowing of Christ’s coming. Even in Genesis we see it. After Adam and Eve sins, an animal is killed to cover their nakedness. It was the first time in the Bible that something died, because sin had entered the world, and it’s the first time something had to die to cover the sin of man. Of course animal sacrifices cannot redeem the sins of man. Animals are inferior to man. The perfect, sinless, and blameless Son of God, Jesus, was needed to forever cover the sinfulness of mankind.

As many have posed the question: If/since God is all-knowing, all-powerful, and eternal...why do people go to hell? I understand free-will and the importance of free-will. As you said, mandated love would not be true love. But if God already knows all, knowing how we will live our lives and if we will accept him, why would He create people He would knowingly have to send to hell? After all, nothing catches God off guard. Many believe in pre-destination, do you based on your study of the Word?

My question: How can we be sure that we are truly understanding scripture and specifically the prophecies? Our thoughts are not His thoughts and our ways not His ways. I believe there are things about the Bible, specifically relating to Revelations, because it has yet to pass, that we will never fully understand. In the OT there were religious leaders who were well educated in the scripture and awaiting the Messiah. Yet, despite their commitment to study the scriptures and be experts in the their knowledge of the Word, they failed to see the Messiah when he stood right before their eyes. They knew of the scripture and the prophecy, but their interpretation of those prophecies was that the Messiah would come as a mighty warrior and rage war on their oppressors; not the Messiah that actually came and was foretold. Yes, I understand that Christ had to be crucified to fulfill God’s will and scripture but hopefully you understand where I’m coming from with my question. Another example would be when God promised Abraham would be a father of many nations, and later that the Israelites would be free and in a land of their own, but due to their disobedience these promises were stalled. My whole point is that prophecy is real and I don’t dispute that but, like these examples, how can we truly begin to understand the timing of prophecy being foretold? While I understand we are reaching an end, with God being eternal, the “end” could likely be another 500 years away.

I heard about the seminar through a pamphlet in the mail. Unfortunately, I didn’t check my mail until yesterday when I returned from a training event at Fort McCoy over the weekend. I started watching the videos last night.
