Within the many skills necessary to be an artist, one stands out not just as fundamental, but as the most important for artistic growth and development: the ability to observe.
But why is observation so important in art? How is it possible for more experienced artists to spot errors in our drawings that we ourselves can't see? What does it mean to “observe something,” exactly?
In this video, we'll understand the immense power this seemingly passive skill holds in our development, and of course, how we can improve it.

Raven Speed Painting (BEFORE / AFTER) 6 Years of Evolution
Very nice video and awesome work! Amazing!
This is a nice video. I think my major problem currently is trying to learn digital. Just so many option out there that I feel overwhelmed on what to use, even for sketches.
options of what, exacly, maybe i can help you
i have too many art blocks and need to make a different style or just plan out that manga.
I am not sure if i agree with what said, othwr than seeing others work makes ones look like trash via comparison. Its not easy to become professional, with exception of those gifted with raw talent who may in a year become professional with no effort. Practice alone is not enough, this coming from over decade of practice with little result. Without a teacher/master to show what your doing wrong, one will never get good or be efficient
having a teacher/mentor for sure speeds the process, but that`s the easiest thing to do nowadays right? Theres a plenty of courses and mentorship online. Also theres a lot of free information for those that cant afford the payed training. I dont think that having no teacher is an excuse anymore, tbh.
I hit stagnations but I actually slowly improve the older I get.
❤❤ its good your content is good❤
Thank you s2.. im doing my best. Theres a lot to improve still, for sure! xD
T_T
I like your videos
Thank you so much! It means a lot to me!
for me the issue is adding color to my works, i spend so much time on anatomy, expressions, line wight practices, and i got to a point where i like how the sketch and lineart turns but i dont know how to color, i just add the flats on a separate layer, then layer on top set to multiply to darken colors, that's it and ofc everything looks flat due to that
have you tryed another proccess? Maybe u dont like the result because of the process. Try to find artists that make that type of art that u want to make aswell, and try to find theyr proccess, like an speed painting, or maybe a photoshop file (some artists make it public on patreon)
your art is really lovely, but man is this AI voice reading pushing away my attention
unfortunate, my english is super bad, so...i need the AI voice to comunicate with you guys =/. i can read and listen kinda well, but im very bad at speaking
@goldenknightstd ahh, I see I see; no disrespect intended here at all, I'm sorry if i made you feel bad about your video. You have good advice to give and your art is really well made. I feel like if you have to use an AI voice, finding one that's a little less monotone and including self animated subtitles might help with retention
Yeah same
WAIT, WHY IS SCOOBY H$RN@ OF VELMA?!
bro, velma is the goat. Look at her!!!!!!
agreed Velma is the best.@@goldenknightstd

I just have trouble drawing bodies, Like The main ones I draw are dragon ball, And I feel it's too advanced for a beginner so I just want some tips.
Its hard to say anything without seeing your drawings right, but i think that DBZs anatomy is pretty detailed one for the manga style. If u feeling that overwelming i would recomend you to study diferents part of the body at once. Like, today you go for the arms, tomorrow chest, them legs, etc.. Thats how i learned anatomy
Oooh okay, It's not the most difficult draw but I do usually lean more to just drawing the head and neck/lower neck area (collar bone all that stuff) so I don't fret about drawing bodies often. But lately I've been experimenting with full body and torso's so thats that. But i'll use your tips thanks! @@goldenknightstd
let me know if that works for you =D.
Thank you for the advice
you`re welcome sir s2
R.O.B.O.T V.O.I.C.E
yeah, thats because my english is super bad =P
ironic ass ai thumbnail
Dude, ai thumbnails? really?
absolutely, super pratical!
I draw like once or twice every week
That drawing was 😐....nice.....LOL (Actually what were u doing???)
guys, chill LOL. just a cute pose @_@
Bro knew what he was doing
lol
Being a artist only for hobby i say that, i agree 100% with you. But normally depends of the type of people, somes that can learn faster, and others that learns slowly. I got 3 years to improve an human anatomy (mostly the female anatomy), 4 years to improve shading and light, some months for learning materials effects, etc. i agree with your points, even if i've got to do regular and daily drawings for literally 4 years to have a big quality improvement
Your style of presentation seems somewhat aggressive and I feel like it could turn people off and not make them listen to you even though your points are valid
what do you mean about somewhat agressive?
Art does not have mistakes
art does have mistakes. Im not saying that is illegal having mistakes or something, , but if you want to work professionally as an artists, you should be aware of it.
the truth is the learning never stops and sometimes you might need to refresh your memory or build up on what you learned already....if you're unwilling to keep going through this cycle you might as well throw in the towel
Realest man u can never be 100 in art never know 100 percent there always will be more out there to learn :)) and I love it I love learning art its so fun
absolutely
Nice
backgrouns are sure my biggest weaknes lol
LOL o yeah, mine aswell. But im working on it. I avoided backgrounds for many many years
Thanks you helped me a lot :D, good luck in your yt journey
im very happy to hear that sir, i made the channel exacly to help people to never give up their art journey =D
i watched the entire video and even watchin, i feel that im not that good 😂. I'll keep this video on my personal playlist to maybe watch everytime i need *Btw, good english bro!*
That AI is super good at english indeed LOL
@@goldenknightstd 🤣💀
😊
A arte ficou linda
obrigado s2
🧚♀️ "she was a fairy"
wow it really got good, this is amazing. I recommend you try to sketch different types of body, or create full body sketches. Or if you rather, try sketch male bodies. it can help you out (if you aren't good at full body drawings or smt else ofc) and yea i'm a brazilian, and im sad to see that Brazilians like you don't have much recognition on UA-cam. Hope you grow a lot on here or on your social media
Yeah, i know. Im just doing portrait because its faster, so i can post frequently, but im studying other stuff, like anatomy and landscape. Next year i`ll have a little more time, so im planing doing more complex drawings =)
Thanks so much for sharing your really nice drawings with us! I'm also learning more about digital drawing myself :-) If you want to share some tips, do you mainly draw from imagination or do you also get inspired by reference images? I can imagine it's not always easy to invent light and shadow from imagination
Thank you. I draw from reference like 99% of the time. Drawing from imagination is like a marketing shit to sell some nonsense class. Everything that u draw from imagination will be better if u draw using references. About the lights and shadows, its not that hard when you understand the volume of things. Also, shadows doesnt have to be PERFECTLY right, just have to be believeable, and consistent with the direction of the light in the scene.
Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts! I really appreciate it, it helps me to orient better in how to practice my own drawing. For example, I don't have to feel guilty when using references :-) Thanks also for that tip about deriving shadows from the general volume of things, and that it mostly has to look convincing even if it's not perfectly accurate @@goldenknightstd
exacly! I felt guilty myself by using references when i was younger, until i find out that EVERY huge artist like jim lee, alex ross, david finch, etc. are using references. After that, my progress skyrocketed @@TJ-fv9vs
You could make a Speedpaint with some Marvel characters, bc this one remembers me about Peggy from Avengers
it does remember, yeah, i didnt noticed it
holy mama! this makima is good as hell bro xd ngl, but long hair actually could fit well on her. and you're so damn underrated cuz this is so good man. i hope that my artworks can get good at this point amazing art
Thank you so much. Super kind of you s2. About ggetting better, i recomend you to practice ONLY drawing. Its very commom people jumping into colors super early, because its fun. But whats matter the most is the foundation of the drawing, Also, the time spended to paint a picture, u can pretty much do ANOTHER 1 or 2 drawings. SO u can do more volume. I hope this helps yyou =)
you’re drawing women with unrealistic beauty standards!!! (I do that all the time)
we all do that all the time LOL
Great work! Hope you blow up soon.
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me s2
I have no doubt
