My padlock keeps attaching to the opposite side on the second gate. Any ideas?

The gaps will send you back quick,but what I like to do if I'm in a good spot is cover the interior of the walls with fence posts. They take no base damage and can only be dismantled if they know to bring a shovel with them. Good blast protection for your walls too,especially if you layer them,and always add barbed wire as much as possible to keep out boosters.

Ur base building techniques suck bro lol overlapping walls, gaps, no consideration for vehicles etc etc. Just looks trash. 😆 only my opinion. I wouldn't let you touch my tools.

Walls and gates same cost?

Dayz players seem to fall into two categories: 1. Those that will build bases. 2. Those that absolutely don't see the point. I'm (1) mostly because I enjoy the objective and the task. Finding a good base location, planning the construction and roaming about seeing what the lay of the land offers (industrial, water, towns without gas attack symbol) also it has to be remote, but within a fair distance of interesting cities/military. Acquiring all the necessary equipment is laborious and can be frustrating, but so is PvP. Dayz is so wonderful, because YOU get to choose how you play and that is vital. I accept that a determined team of raiders, will mostly likely break into any base I build as a solo. But, most players are not a determined squad of base raiders (especially on vanilla+) so you can feasibly erect FOUR gates and be fairly well secure and protected from most curious passers by. A base provides enjoyment, but also storage and comfort. Often I've been in my base, sorting gear and somebody will jog past and shout in, 'Hello, anybody home'. You have a chat, they go away. Some players just adventuring and exploring, others like PvE, some just seek out PvP, others build bases. You kind of need all four types on a server to make it a quality playable experience.

Big tip: Don't put walls to close to eachother cuz nades and plastic explosives penetrate all the walls. You only need 12 grenades even if you have 3 walls.

even on community servers that wall stacking is all 12 hand grenades. they have to be 50cm apart at least or they will all take same amount of damage.

You can't dismantle a gate with a lock on it

Ok, first off, Bunker implies impervious, this is not. This just a 3 wall raid either way. Its just a 3 walled, 2 exit garage base. Did good lining it up, but thats community, it wont work on official, collision is off for moat community servers, or clipping is turned on to allow items to be closer or overlap in proximity of one another. Nice build though kid.

I guess that’s one way to do it.

Good Idea ! But : unfortunately, no base can be safe in DayZ, the only thing possible is to hide barrels and wooden crates... for example under a tree (Oh?! Yes! Just cut down a large tree, place the crates at the initial location of the tree stump, when the server restarts the tree grows back and everything is hidden inside). Why cant i put the 2nd floor down on my watchtower? Do i need to build the 2nd floor before the walls? I hope someone can help me im trying to make my first base decently secure 😅
