THOR Cowl Intake: XJ Full Install
Here is my step-by-step video of the THOR cowl intake. I unboxed it and traced the bracket and holes, drilled those out, then cut a hole and put the whole thing together. It runs much smoother especially on the highway.

This is my full walkthrough and review of the Amazon EAG bumper/tire carrier. I was on the fence initially when getting this kit, but am pretty happy with it. I ordered this bumper, but the box with the swingarm/wheel carrier didn't arrive. How should I go about figuring out how to get the other box?
You should contact the supplier for the rest of the shipment.
Can you add attachments to it like holder for gas cans and such?
If you knew some welding I believe you would be able to. I personally haven't tried it. Just for update's sake though... This thing is a beast and I've beat the heck out of it. I'm still super happy with it and the $$$ I spent on it.
@@xagg thanks for the quick response. Great video by the way. I’m subscribing. ✌🏽❤
Were you ever able to find out what caused this? My 92 just started same thing
This was the sound of the exhaust vibration making the pipe tick against the cross member. Got my exhaust welded together and the noise immediately vanished.
Did you ever install the frame tie-in brackets?
I did install the tie in brackets. I used a pair made by Dirtbound Offroad. Installed them about a month after the bumper itself and it went smoothly. They have significantly increased the strength of the bumper and stopped most of the vibration in the back. I have towed, been pulled out of a snow drift, and yanked down-trees off of trails for volunteer maintenance. There is nothing I would not trust the bracket/bumper combo to do and they have held up to some serious wheeling.
Did you find the problem ?
Yep. Sure did. I have a thread on Jeep forum under the same title as the video. It was one of the hooks that suspends the muffler/cat. This was rocking rather horribly. Had a welder tighten up the system and the sound is totally gone now!
Should have heated the tubing up. It would have slid right on.
How is this holding up? Do you have any updates? Can you got anything else in it (jerry cans, hi lift)
Working currently on an update video, but the long and short of it. It is working well. I have taken it on numerous off road activities and have crawled it a handful of times too, mostly over sandstone and in deep arroyos. As far as mounting anything else to it, I have not yet put anything else.
Can water get in there. What is the purpose of this type with the cold air intake under the hood?
I have not had any issue with water. The vents on this side of the cowl are closed; they are only open on the drivers side. The filter itself sit above any reasonable water line that may form in the cavity. I chose to upgrade to a cold air intake for several reasons: for suppose increased power (possibly have noticed), cooler engine temps, and more space in the engine compartment for an extra battery (biggest reason).
does it rattle at all?
It did before I installed the tie in brackets. It also took some tinkering around the brass latch to make it fit properly. The latch is adjustable. Finally got it to the point where it no longer rattles.
looks good
Eag xj rear tire carrier is junk an so is there customer service
You know what else is junk? No bumper and carrier
