    • @vanguns9664
      @vanguns9664 10 днів тому

      Actually the .243 Winchester is flatter shooting than the 6.5 creedmoor inside of 500 yards, the creed however carries more energy a far greater distances than the .243 Win. The creed will carry 1000 fl lbs of energy all the way out to 750 yards where the 243 drops below 1000 ft lbs at only 370 yards with a typical deer load. At 300 yards the 243 drops less than 12 inches but the 6.5 creed drops 13.5 inches. The creed will have better wind resistance and much longer range as well as more power at all ranges. At a hundred yards I'll take the .243 for deer.

Yes, the 380 round is a little anemic, but with in the 10 yard range does any one want to stand there and take a few rounds to the chest? Likely not. Great gun, what makes it a deluxe?

    • @vanguns9664
      @vanguns9664 Місяць тому

      These days the Deluxe uses the classic high polish AA walnut stock with custom inlays of rosewood and maple. The Deluxe also uses Weatherby's famous and classic highly polished blued finish. Some of the more "modern" Mark Vs are using modern stocks from composites including carbon fiber and also offer cerakote finish. The Deluxe is a high quality throwback paying homage to Roy's custom guns from the 50's and 60s.

      @@bigredc222 When Weatherby was no longer able to keep up with production demands they hired Joseph Sauer & Sons to manufacture the Mark V actions and barrels in West Germany. There were some variances in the twist rates so making sure you get a 1:10 is important. In the every late 60s or very early 70s manufacturing was moved to Howard of Japan. Hey brother you are right I have that pistol, hey it's a good gun, I only own it no other pistol, I bought mine in1989 , I have shot other pistols in .9mm .40 caliber. I even shot a 911 custom colt , it was my favorite pistol in the world but no more my sig was lighter and although the trigger isn't as good it's still a very good trigger, and this is what blew my mind brothers and sisters, the sig is a better balanced because it's lighter and it shoots softer then a colt 911 I think a 911 is the best Looking pistol made but pound for pound I'll give my sig the edge to a 911 pistol now that I have shot one they are real heavy the p220 is heavy but not like a 911 the 911 is the daddy of pistols though, , I have shot the daddy of pistols the 911 and I see now why people stick with a platform sig p220 I know I can put it together in my sleep it way more easily to take down and put up , and you are not imagining that you're sig p220 has less recoil you are right the 911 has a better trigger but rather fight with my sig the manual of arms I like better than colts 911 for me I could show my daughters who never held a pistol to use my sig p220 much faster than my buddies colt 911 a colt 911 is a cold ass pistol and the OG and I give them a five star ranking but a sig design lets the p220 be lighter and easier recoiling then a 911 I love my sig made in West Germany it's a real hot dog

    I have been afflicted with the Weatherby virus since I was a young child. It became an obsession with me early on. As a kid that read ballistics tables under the covers with a flashlight at night, it didn’t take much to find fascination with the rifles and cartridges that Weatherby produced. The history of Weatherby is just as fascinating as their products. The 300 Weatherby has been around since before the end of WWII. It has an outstanding reputation worldwide and taken a trophy from every continent in the world. By the way, the 300 RUM, with all components being equal only has a 60-90 fps advantage over the 300 Weatherby. That’s not a difference that is recognizable in the field. Not to mention, for an insignificant increase in powder capacity and velocity comes a terrible price in barrel life. It wasn’t until the 30-378 Weatherby was introduced that we saw a meaningful increase beyond the 300 Weatherby. Again, barrel life is horrific. Nope! The 300 Weatherby remains the king! In truth, the 300 Weatherby holds as much or more advantage over the 300 Winchester mag as the Winchester holds over the 30-06. Truth!

    I have owned a German P220 for decades. It is an OUTSTANDING firearm - wonderful quality, durability, reliability and accuracy. It is my bedside weapon, I trust my family’s life to it, which certainly indicates the merited confidence I have for this autoloader. For lawful home defense, I use an Sig 10 round, .45 ACP magazine, currently loaded with Golden Sabers; This 10+1 capacity and the superior P220 provide more than adequate safety and efficacy for any realistic threat I’ll encounter. I understand those who may prefer more-contemporary 9mm, striker-fired, polymer-framed, higher capacity semiautomatics, however, each individual must evaluate his likely threats and equip himself accordingly. IMHO, the advantages of the Sig P-series’ DA/SA design are considerable.

      It may very well be average for a Weatherby, but average for a Weatherby is well above average for the industry. FYI: This rifle is chambered in .300 Weatherby which is in fact a Weatherby cartridge, perhaps you were referring to another commenter's rifle. I tend to agree that a Weatherby ought to have a Weatherby cartridge, certain the Mark V at least. As for collector value some people including me tend to buy rifles to shoot rather than collect.
