    Looking great. I would suggest putting some bricks or cinder blocks on the interior perimeter of the tent. Georgia is eventually going to start testing for weaknesses in the tent and the first spot they always go is the bottom corners and by the door. The second basking spot Id go a 40-50 watt hologen the tents hold heat and humidity extremely well so no need to go to high on watts there. Other then that hes going to be a happy boy

      Good points & thank you for the tips ! I totally forgot about reinforcing the inside perimeter ! Good looking out lol ! I’ll hafta run to Lowe’s/Home Depot for some cheap bricks. Good thing both stores are 5min from me lol. & thank you for the input on the 2nd basking spot. Great minds think alike haha, I already have a 50w halogen in there. The bigger basking spot I have a 80w deep heat projector & a 75w halogen…Will that be too hot do u think ? I could swap out the 75 for a 50 ?

    That is way too small for a savannah monitor. A single savannah monitor should be in at least an 8ft by 4ft by 6ft enclosure or grow tent. These animals are large bodied terrestrial animals that spend all day roaming the African savannah. What you have here isn't even suitable for a bearded dragon as even those need deep enough substrate to dig in. Savannah monitors dig deep burrows which they use to regulate their humidity for shedding, reproductive and metabolic purposes, without a humid substrate to burrow in, and a much much bigger enclosure, this lizard will be very short lived, and will likely die from obesity and metabolic bone disease or even liver failure. If you want your pet to thrive and live a long life then take the appropriate measures to ensure your monitor receives the enclosure that it needs.

    • @amysreptileadventures6664
      @amysreptileadventures6664 15 днів тому

      Thanks ! It actually looks better now, I’m almost done with it. It does have a heavy plastic window on the door. It also has a “shade” that goes over the window that you can roll up & secure. That way the window is always visible. I know a couple people that cut the plastic window out and do some kind of Framework and replace it with a heavy duty wire mesh ? That way there’s more direct airflow in the tent. But that’s above my skill leval ! lol I’m not even sure how that would be secured onto the tent material ? 🤷🏼‍♀️😵‍💫🤣

    Lol, oddly enough this is a natural behavior for leopard geckos. They do this in the wild, that way a predator can’t follow a trail of shedding skin pieces & find them. Sometimes they will get a tiny bit of stuck shed on their little toes….some warm water usually does the trick…& it comes right off !

      Thank you & sorry to hear about your water dragon passing away. That’s so sad. I can relate to that because I recently lost my amazing 4yr old Savannah monitor back in December. Still trying to get over her loss. 😢 The enclosure that Georgia is in currently is a Repti Zoo 36x18x24… he should’ve been out of that enclosure along time ago. But I had a series of unfortunate events that happened. & I have a 8x4x4 custom build that’s half completed for Georgia, but unfortunately that one is on hold for awhile. So in the meantime, I had to get a 4x2x5 grow tent so I can at least get him outta that small enclosure until the 8x4 is completed. The tent is up, just have to do some stuff on the inside and hang the lights and all of that. It’s been a struggle 🤦🏼‍♀️ but at least i’ll be able to get him into something bigger very soon !

    Hello ! Thank you so much for watching my videos, I’m glad you’re liking them ! I’m stoked to hear that you have a peach throat on the way ! They’re kind of a unique species since not a whole lot of people have them. They are a very rewarding & beautiful monitor to keep that’s for sure ! Kinda bums me out to hear that she went through The first stage of her life of not being handled properly. Especially since the very first year or two is definitely an important one. But sometimes that happens. So I’m glad you’re getting her now so hopefully you’ll be able to make a change in her. I would definitely recommend going very slow with her. Lots of positive baby steps is key ! Even if it’s just a short 30 second interaction, make each one positive. That’s definitely what you want ! Even if you just start out with sitting in front of the enclosure and talking to her for a few minutes so she gets used to you and your voice, That might be an easy thing to start with. & What has worked for me is not using any loud voices or quick fast movements because that tends to startle them. Instead, use a calm, quiet voice and slow movements when you start to interact with her. & I’ve never tried to grab him, I’ve always let him come to me. The more calm and not afraid your are….the animal should have close to the same reaction as you. Makes sense right ? Remember how intelligent these monitors are… especially a species like the Jobiensis…. You gotta be a step ahead of them sometimes haha ! Hope all of that helps you ! 🦎😉🤙🏻

      Hello to you ! & thank you for subscribing ! 😉🤙🏻👍🏻 I’ve had Georgia for a year and a half now. I bought it as a baby and was told it was a female, but recently discovered it was a male. That discovery is in one of my videos lol. He’s always had a slight kink at the end of his tail. Over the last month that kink seemed to get worse and worse I still don’t know why ? He might’ve possibly injured it somehow ? I took him to the vet one week ago & because the tissue was pretty much dead…poor Georgia had to have the last inch & a half removed from the end of his tail. But thank god he’s got that super long tail. It hasn’t seemed to phase him much at all. That should catch you up to speed about Georgia lol 😆😉🦎Thank you again for subscribing ! 🤙🏻

    Hey, hello ! & thank you so much for the good advice ! When I first discovered this tail issue… I Started watching videos about tail /scale rot cause I was freaking out of course. & you are right, most of the videos did say that during the healing process to keep the enclosure as dry as possible & to remove any water tubs because it will help with the healing. & somehow, the first couple days after the vet visit… I totally forgot about that and forgot to take the water tub out 🤦🏼‍♀️😣 & literally as I was reading your comment, I was like Oh crap, the water tub ! I jumped up and hauled it out of the enclosure ! Haha. & about your gender question lol. I bought Georgia about a year and a half ago and it was sold to me as a female…. However, it was only a few months old when I got it so of course it’s hard to tell when it’s that small but they thought it was a female. So for the last year and a half I thought it was a female…. up until like a month ago haha. I think it was the 1st or 2nd Video I was recording of Georgia walking around doing some free roaming. & he decided to stop and.show me his parts. So that definitely was a major shocker ! Haha. & I keep telling Georgia that he’s too pretty to be a boy 🤣🤣 I have to ask….hows Toad doing ? I think it’s cool that you have her now ! & that 3 leval enclosure is absolutely amazing ! 🤩

    I would suggest removing the water tray and providing a water cup it can drink from, without being able to climb in, for now.... It will heal much better if it stays dry. Unfortunately he did lose about an inch & half of his tail….but thankfully since these guys have that super long tail, losing that little bit, hasn’t phased him that much. & yeah I definitely don’t want / don’t like to see any injuries or anything like that, happen to any of them. Such a great lizard mom! Man he’s so chill and sociable. JoJo never holds that still for pets. 😂

      Haha thank you ! I’ve been slowly working with him since I got him 1 1/2yrs ago. He is pretty chill & social & pretty darn friendly too ! He doesn’t hold still for too long lol. Definitely under 30sec 🤣🤣 Long enough for a few pets….then…Squirrel ! 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

    Might have seen his reflection in the glass and was trying to figure out who the other peach throat was. 😂 Georgia is absolutely stunning and you are doing amazing work with him!

    Side to side is usually distance gauging as closer things will displace in your vision more than farther things as you move your head side to side. Birds do it too. This did look a bit odd to me though. Looks like he is definitely focused on that enclosure though, probably just scoping it out, moving his head around to get a rough idea of its layout.
