The Merkle Trail is one of the more popular hiking destinations here, being a 1.0-mile loop that is generally considered an easy route. This is a very popular area for birding, hiking, and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are February through April when the wildflowers are blooming. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
The Vista Trail offers a chance to make the hike more challenging by climbing the Merkle Hills. Views are breathtaking as you meander 0.5 miles one-way through the rugged terrain of the park. As you trek along the well-marked path, you'll encounter towering saguaro cacti, diverse desert flora, and the chance to spot local wildlife in their natural habitat. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a nature enthusiast looking for a peaceful escape, the Vista Trail promises a quick and scenic outdoor experience.
