Design of "The Rebooterator" - Device to monitor IP connected devices and reboot them automagically

This could be useful to automatically reboot Internet (IP) connected devices which periodically "lock up"... I developed it to reboot an Aercus IP weather station receiver unit. Circuit diagram: fuji.essenet.co.uk/rebooterator.pdf Python script: fuji.essenet.co.uk/rebooterator.0.0.1.py.txt
A quick look inside a TEAC X1000-R reel to reel tape recorder
Переглядів 5 тис.4 роки тому
I opened this deck to fix a fault, which frustratingly disappeared. Thought you might like a quick look inside whilst I had the back off... Apologies for the dodgy hand held camerawork.. Focus you .... Hmm, thinking about it I think the power supply stuff is largely on the same board as the transport control - the vertical board, rather than the board at the bottom of the deck which I mentioned..

Weircliffe Bulk Tape Eraser / Big Electromagnet - Modification / Butchering
Переглядів 8835 років тому
I modified an old bulk tape eraser so I could use it to demagnetise larger tapes, or indeed anything that needs to be demagnetised. Some might call it modification, some might call it butchering. The mean spirited would call it a bodge!

Demonstration and summary of the servicing I have done to this deck. I'm pleasantly surprised at how good this deck sounds, both on playback and recording. It has seen very little use and is in great condition. Sorry that the framing is so bad on the second part of the vijeo... Framing you fack! Hmm, this could be a fun project! Electromagnets (4W 12V overdriven at 15V) switched via N-channel mosfets controlled by a clone arduino nano. Just a bit of experimentation at this point..

I made these for some friends' kids. I will upload a video of the making at some point... and yes, it probably didn't need to be 15 minutes long.

This video was posted in part to support the sale of the deck. It has now been sold to a very good new home! 😃 Thank you! My son just bought one of these so going through schematics, etc. and trying to figure out the best setup for a DAW. AGain thank you!

Împreună cu A78 bate orice Akai
Those Akai GX6XX series were the ULTIMATE decks of that time. They were appealing to look at, sounded phenomenal, and really weren't that expensive either! The only issue they have, is it's tough to find parts for them, and they're hard to work on in comparison to Teac and Pioneer.
I have one (it's not for sale), in mint condition. I bought it new in the 1970s. It's a work of art and mechanical precision.
Крутой аппарат!👍
sounds fantastic!
Work with 2" tape?
Just bought one of these to use as a summing mixer. I have a Teac Model 3 but the output switch is gone and I don't have the time or money to fix it, so I bought this and am going to run vocals with effects and some analog compression through it to my Tascam Model 12. I then set up projects using a DAW so I don't have to worry about how many channels I have and then send master files I'm finished off in the DAW, to Cassette. You can also do this over and over again depending on the effect your going for, Anyways this machine is going to be great for summing. Nowadays you can have the best of both worlds.
Cool deck , with some cool options ,especially the level meters option , i have a RS-B705, that I'm very happy with the way it records.
...and if I may add it can handle a true Cr02 type II formula tape with outstanding results! If biased properly, unlike my Denon DR--M24HX , that can't cope with real Cr02 tape well.
I'm working on an automatic flip cover actuator. Lotsa space under the hood for the mechanism.
The best bang for your buck.
Excelente
fine choice in music
this song had already passed through tape. not a good example.
Id say there's a big difference in channel separation, the good news is that it sounds really good at 3.75
Кто исполнитель и как называется песня?
this is one of the best. Very rare and one of the most wanted. I would choose this mk4 over a studer unless it's something like technics 1700. Great !
I'm waiting for mine to be refurbished. I've noticed a slight drop in the highs when you switch from the source, but I've read that it's a general a77 issue, which amazingly, can be fixed with a little upgrade on the playback amplifiers. Here's a video ua-cam.com/video/7DdEPfiuWyA/v-deo.html
what outputs on the 2A would I run to an amp to hear stereo...... thanks
Just found one at auction. Mint condition. Have yet to play with it. Great video.
Brilliant video man, cheers. I have this exact same unit, but mine functions differently, and im having trouble determining if its due to a broken part or not. The right tensioner arm that uses a microswitch to stop the reels and deactive the capstan on my machine only deactivates the capstan. For some reason on my machine, the reels will just continue to spin indefinitely after the tape has finished feeding, but the capstan will stop rolling. Any ideas what this could mean??? Thanks again!
Hi. Just bought one. I was wondering, how do you get a stereo mix out of the mixer, say into your DAW?
Just bought this beautiful mixer. Thank's for the review!
Hi what’s the pre amps like on it ?
Really appreciate the information you're presenting here. Can a degausser be made with multiple transformers?
Cool, I just got one of these today at an estate sale. 1000-5500 rpm Interesting "Old Tech"
Can you explain a little further how you created the echo effect?
If tapping is resolving the issue, it means there's a bad solder point and/ or the PCB print is fractured/ lifted at the solder point. Re-solder everything in questionable region and continuity test on the traces. Easy fix.
I think I'd be hitting it up with a soldering iron and be checking the electrolytics with an ESR meter and replace if necessary.

How many pases do you give a 7 inch tape reel to erase it on both sides? Thank you
Find me one Olly! I am running a vintage (circa mid 70s that I bought new!) Sony STR 7035 tuner, TA 1066 integrated amp. And a Sony SQD 2020 4 channel quadraphonic decoder. A 4 channel reel to reel would highlight my system perfectly! I do like the Teac A-3340! A very versatile machine!
I bought one to run all my synths and drum machines through the 2A and record it into pro toolS to get a vintage sound
I'm thinking of doing something similar - does it colour or add much to your sound?
@@filmband6444 yeah, it does, specially if you crank the volume up
Any advice how to use the model 2 mixer its like the shittier version as this one. Trying to figure out how to bounce tracks but confused.
Thanks for an interesting video. I have a TEAC 3300 4track standard version. It is very noisy, a lot of hiss in stop and play mode. Is there anything that can be replaced or serviced in order to decrease the hiss. Any help is truly appreciated. Thanks. Pontus in Kalmar Sweden
YES YES YES you don’t understand how helpful this video has been!!!! Before this I thought you could only record four instruments end of, but your description of the overdubbing/bouncing method was perfect! Thank you
110v Or 120v ? Thanks!
Recently picked up a silver face X1000-R that I'm restoring (waiting on a capstan belt at the moment). I love those black ones. My X1000-R has the four different voltages selectable by jumper as well.
I am still trying to figure out the master fader? It doesnt have a dedicated master out connection, just a multi out that gets its source from assignment switch, so in essence there is one master fader for all four outs, if i understand the logic. I do have the mb20 meter bridge that does have a sum stereo pair, which is baffling the summing happens in the mb20. Anyway, the mb20 meter bridge is a must have for the added features, AND quad VU meters!
I have one and I love it. It works fantastic.
Creative use! I gotta share my experience with one of these. I actually found one at a flea market the very next day after thinking "it would be amazing to run into a TEAC mixer at some point". I'd never even seen one, and BAM, Sunday morning at the Pasadena community college parking lot, I find one for fifty dollars. The reason I wanted a simple mixer is for creating a sub mix from a drum machine. This mixer has the basics for drum processing! No mids control? For percussion, you won't miss it, you want your highs HI and your lows to rumble. The easy EQ is terrific, panning and even individual channel outs you can use as a trigger out (these outputs are unaffected by the EQ). To top it off, all four outputs in the output matrix have their own send/return loops!!! I can line up a compressor, distortion, delay, and reverb and push any combination of output buttons to process my drums. I'm way happy to have found this thing. It was on it's own, no VU meters or tape deck. And made in Japan in the late seventies, during the peak of their manufacturing prowess, be still my heart.. Just wanted to share another use I am applying for this cool piece of kit!
Sounds great dude im sure this would work great on a drum machine. you kinda just gave me an idea haha.
Can you explain to me a little more about the process you discussed above? I scored one of these recently at an estate sale but I haven’t been able to find a free download of the manual
I have one of these . Amazing machine .
So in one word this machine is good mostly for the musicians. To buy this kind of four channel reel to reel machine is not a good idea for home use. Thank You.
Nice music...can you give the titles...?
Where it was in their decks lineup? I believe somewhere in the middle?
Nice tape deck I have technics rs b 565 and rs b 505 both hx pro looking to upgrade any advice on better technics decks
Hey Dave my deck is the Technics rs-bx707 it's a 3 head deck single capstan with hx-pro dolby b-c mpx and manual tape calibration with also test tones at 400 Hz for the rec-level and 10KHz for the bias ; It's a nice deck the only thing is missing is the dual capstan and CD - dierct but that's not a problem : You can also check for models like rs-bx 727 / 828 those are higher than my 707 but my 707 is better more advanced model than yours so check the models i've mentioed in ebay - amazon and if the price is nice yes why not buy one : My model the rs-bx707 i see it in ebay in a price range 190 - 230 euros :-)
@@Badassvidsz many thanks for your advice I'll look out for models you said friend has got 2 technics 7 hundred model range do sound nice
Hi I have a 606 it plays and records but seems to have started running slow, any ideas what’s wrong? Thanks M
Bad belts. It happens after a few decades. Take it to get them replaced, they'll probably give it a cleaning too. Shouldn't cost more than $60 or so.
@@theol.j.5963 No its direct drive, there are no belts in it.
@AUDIO MAN Well, I have to correct myself, in some cases, even DD decks have belts, mostly dual capstan, but also a few others.
@AUDIO MAN But: Then you don't have the same deck. I also have a 606, and there are no belts. Are you sure you also have a 606? Or maybe a 646 or something similar looking?
Change the 2 electrolytic caps on the motor board
