I make videos primarily for WoW Classic Feral PvP.
Phase 3 (Season 7) Feral PvP BiS (Gear Guide)
Sorry for the length of this video, but I tried to cover a wide variety of gear and options for feral druids of all levels. Believe it or not I actually could've gone more in depth about the stat differential between each piece, but instead I can just answer any questions about my decisions in the comments.

Man im playing on pserver that uses the old client and holy is this game hard without all the addons and weakaura assist.
great video, great indepths explanation! gj
what about spell pene cap ?
So the spell pen cap is usually ~80, mages have a talent that gives them 1 magic resist per level. They could also use mage armor for more resistance, but will almost certainly be using frost armor against feral, if theyre using mage armor they could have 135 resistance. So if you have 80 spell pen it will make it so even against mages and druids with motw you will never get resisted. However note that there are talents that increase your chance to MISS with spells, most notably rogues and paladins. The only way to gear around those scenarios is to go over the hit cap, although general consensus is that its not worth. I talk about these cutoffs in my last gearing video at this timestamp: ua-cam.com/video/8OcQu6E_iNE/v-deo.html
Don't you want at least 75 spellpen to counteract motw's nature resistance incase you're facing a druid? Or is that just depending on what comp you play? (might not be as necessary if u play with a disc for example who spampurges I assume?)
Yea exactly, personally I like to use up any extra blue gem slots with good socket bonuses for some spell pen gems. Sometimes even when playing with a priest they wont have the globals to dispel motw anyway and mages resisting clones make me wanna die inside hahaaa
what are your thoughts on enchanting the chest with +10 stats, instead of resilience? and you're also able to equip both the +10 stats and +6 stats gems, is it viable to replace any of the current gems for the extra +6 stat gem? or not worth?
That's an interesting swap, but personally I think 20 resil>10 stats and because of that I think wearing a 6 stat gem would also not be worth(because u could gem 20 resil). Really when looking at +stats its easier if we break it down to what it is really giving us. 10 agi is the biggest stat, 10 strength is ok and 10 stam is just meh. All the other stats it would give us are pretty much not worth anything and with that in mind I think it makes it easier to make a comparison. So when you compare the 10 stats gem to a 20 agi gem youre losing 10 of our best 'offensive' stat for a lesser offensive stat and a meh defensive stat. IMO it would be better to gem full agi for any offensive needs and full resil for any defensive needs. The reason we use 1 nightmare tear is usually just to activate our meta, but you could also do that through 2 spell pen gems, if you want to run spell pen. Also an added benefit is that the 20 resil enchant is pretty cheap compared to the 10 stats hahaha.
This is a fantastic guide that shows even ulduar PVE items are viable during phase 3! Hopefully you make another for phase 4 pvp, these videos are great.
Ready to blast!!!
great advice on the attainable pvp gear, most BiS lists are pretty unrealistic for average players, could you do another attainable BiS list for phase 3?
Yes! I plan on posting a phase 3 'gear guide' this week! Although most gear is significantly easier to obtain in PvE this phase, so it shouldn't have too many differences from what Id call 'theoretical BiS'
Aside from an occasional arena and BG’s I’ve never been much of a pvp guy. Always wondered why some ferals tear right through me and others don’t. I had no idea spell pen was a thing…
Kinda big demotivation when you see all this big HM pieces needed (especially for armor pen build)...
My boy! Good video folio
Just shooting out a specific question here while watching your video and comparing my gear. I lucked out to get Leggings of the honored as a part of my setup. Would you say swap them out to the furious or use that as a hit stat for now and go with for instance sundering neck instead?
I think furious + victory neck would be a much better play. While Leggings of the honored were good in phase 1, it was really only because they were higher item level than everything else available. The reality of those pants this phase though is that they waste a good chunk of stats on haste and in return have relatively low agility compared to alternatives, so Im not a big fan of them right now. Another thing I would note is that sometimes when it comes to what you should wear now it depends on what you think you will wear later. Since most likely you will want to be wearing the neck with hit on it and pants without hit, it will be easier to swap those out one for one if you were to start by having the Victory neck and the Furious/Deadly pants. I dont think the leggings of the honored are that bad to wear temporarily early in this phase, but what I wouldnt wanna waste any honor buying pieces that didnt have hit to accommodate fitting it into my set. My personal set right now I just run the deadly pants and victory neck. This way (as I pointed out earlier) when I get my furious pants or one of the pve hit necks I can swap those items super easy without rebalancing my set.
@@feralfolio385 Thanks! That really helps to map out the next steps :)
Its me again! Can you explain the reasoning behind resil gems? I play disc/feral and they usually go disc. Feels like Im missing out on a bunch of dam. Thanks! :D
@@Amatoren So it all depends on the match up really. When it comes to things like ret/DK or Hpal/War these teams will most likely go for your disc. The thing is we feel our win rate against these comps even with resil gems are usually positive. So that being said I usually gem for the match ups that we have a negative W/L ratio. Which are like: Rogue/Mage, Rogue/Spriest, Rogue/Disc... basically rogues lol. All of these comps usually want to focus you because they can CC your priest much easier. In the end like most pvp gearing it really comes down to what youre facing and what you struggle against. If I can live through the first kidney without trinketing against rogue/mage, our win rate chances drastically increase.
@@feralfolio385 MVP! Thank you so much :)
Huge thanks for making this :)
So you would say focusing on Bite over bleeds is the end goal? Obviously knowing you need really good armor pen gear to do that. I just always thought dots was the wotlk Druid way and not focusing on burst damage. Maybe I was wrong?
Personally I've never been a super fan of bite, but I do think it will become very good this phase due to the high iLvL gear from Ulduar. That being said I am plan on focusing on the AP/bleed damage gear first and only swapping to bite spec if I get really lucky and end up with things like Mjolnir Runestone and the Algalon rings. The only other caveat Id say is that bite will almost always be better into low armor opponents. So if you start to see more rogue/mage, rogue/priest, priest/mage comps you might just wanna try it. While if you facing a lot of Hpal/War I dont think itd be good.
@@feralfolio385 That makes sense. I would say I struggle more with warrior/DK comps in 2s though. So maybe focusing on rip and AP/agil would play into what we have a harder time with. Usually if there is a mage we just win, and the only rogue comp I ever lose to is spriest/rogue.
Great guide. Please do more! Maining feral/disc this season. Got any gear recommendations?
eightyupgrades.com/set/TrndkHhroLTsSGNJJH7Cu This is what I wore season 1. Usually just wearing mostly PvP stuff and then some choice PvE items is the play. You can run more or less spell penetration gems depending on how often you face mages and stuff. For season 2 Im going to be working towards a set like this: eightyupgrades.com/set/36188TeRRJDuCzs6cKXiZ9
@@feralfolio385 Amazing thanks. Any thoughts on arm pen while gearing up with the new stuff inbetween? Won't be to fast on the rest :D
@@Amatoren You know thats a great question. Honestly I'm realizing now that as I replace pieces theres a lot more going on with feral druid gearing this season than I expected. I think Im just going to have to sit down and make video this weekend about it, because theres a lot variables, ha
@@feralfolio385 That's awesome and yeah its a lot. If I may request for the video that you go from a more or less BIS end of P1 setup into transitioning into full BIS. There are so many sidesteps that are available atm which makes it hard to know what to focus on. Especially taking into account keeping stuff like the hit/spell pen cap and resilience etc. Thanks for the content! :D
@@Amatoren ua-cam.com/video/8OcQu6E_iNE/v-deo.html TLDR: PvP pieces are basically 2nd BIS for the phase. So start by focusing on grabbing those and then just watch your hit rating and either regem or swap out/in the PvP 'Victory' pieces to balance your hit. Hope this helps!!!
How do I beat spriest rogue?
That's the thing... you dont :) lol
Savage set costs arena points not only honor atm in dalaran
Yea so kinda dumb the way they did it. In the Dalaran sewers is where you spend arena points, but if you want to buy the savage gear for purely honor you need to go to OG or SW and buy the gear from the honor vendors
so the titian forged isnt the best with its armor pen?
If you are comparing titan forged boots against hateful boots its practically the same, but when comparing them against the deadly boots, the deadly boots are better for sure
i love that the algorithm wants to show me entirely unrelated videos to my search query before actually informative ones like this. ty for the info, very helpful for someone just getting into pvp
Excellent, thank you
Isnt it worth mentioning the different brackets for arena points gains? A cr of 1400 on 5s will reward you more than 300 extra points compared to 2s. That being said id argue the time invest for 5s isnt worth it, since you want to be pushing one bracket hard to get rating.
That's a great point! I guess I assumed most people were going into arena with a bracket in mind, but like you mention you do get a lot more points in 5s than in 2s and it should be noted. I added the link to the point calculator to the video description and hopefully people can plug in and see for themselves.
Great video, much needed info
Surprised you didn't go with crafted pvp gear. It's a pretty good place to start for a fresh 80, and helps me justify skipping the savage blue gear.
The problem with the crafted gear (especially for feral druids) is the set bonus. The nice thing about mixing and matching savage gear with hateful/deadly gear is that all the pieces count towards the 4 set bonus, while if you have half crafted and half hateful it doesn't. Still I shoulda mentioned the crafted gear as it is definitely a good place for a fresh 80 to get resilience.
Good video idk the berserk tip thanks anything you can put out for pvp would be dope ....I mained feral in TBC and suffered for it now I want my revenge lol
Thank you for believing in me. I hope I can reach 1600 someday.
Thank you! Been looking for something like this.
Thanks so much !! I've always played as a DK or Warrior.. might want to switch that up to a Druid :)
The thing I like most is the bones of the build make sense and the minor tweaking is entirely playstyle and situational dependent. That's the sort of tailoring of talents I loved about Wrath. You feel specialized.
100% agreed! I love that depending on how you play, what you play with, or what you play against can all have an impact on your talent choices. Cannot wait for Arena to open up next week and see how things end up shaking out.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your thought process. I will be running a nearly identical build. I hope you make more videos. :)
Thanks for the feedback! I definitely plan on making more videos soon, currently grinding out those levels so I can get the blue PvP gear before Arena opens hopefully
Drop Feral Instinct, Rogues always find you 1st, 2/2 Brutal Impact, 3/3 Survival of the Fittest is a must, stack with your resilience. Only play with Primal Tenacity if don't have a healer to Dispell you or facing a lot of rogues.
when are you not facing a lot of rogues in pvp though? lol
Please bring these back for Season 4! (and Wrath)
I plan on it! I got a lil bogged down with Sunwell progression for our guild and then for the past month I've been traveling and unfortunately cant record on my laptop. I'm getting back to my desktop this weekend though and I plan on talking about what I've changed for s4 and I definitely plan on doing wrath feral pvp stuff!
Wow! Amazing :D i want these vids for all comps :D great job!
Thanks man, I've been travelin for the past lil bit and couldnt record on my crapp laptop lol, but I'm getting back to my desktop soon and I plan on postin some s4 stuff and probably gettin ready for wrath content!
hi, I also play FERAL, I would need to know the name of the addon that displays the CDs of the opponents, thanks for the help
I use two addons that track opponent CDs. One is Gladdy, thats the addon you see in the upper right part of the screen, it shows opponent health, mana, trinket, racial and their class CDs. The other one I use in the middle of the screen shows small icons of the opponent's class CDs. That one is called omnibar.
@@feralfolio385 ok ty
For those who come across this video and still play this comp in s4. The best strategy for this comp we've found is going all in on mage. If mage doesn't use Invisibility, you rush in on mount and pop mass dispels trying to hit rogue to get into combat, as you work your way to mage pop all cds SW:Pain/Shadowfiend on mage. If feral is target of mage/rogue sit in bear while gunning mage down, otherwise sit cat and obliterate the mage. Pretty much same strat if mage uses Invis, but best to setup around a pillar and wait to see what comp it is. Best to use fears on water elemental too. Also some general tips for playing this comp, as feral get pvp pants then swap helm out of wolfshead helm. For feral talents, drop improved leader of the pack and pick up Intensity in the resto tree.
Ya know I haven't tried very many games of focusing the mage first this season yet, but in the past I always felt it was too risky positioning wise. That being said I am always interested in any sort of strategy change up and since I just got my s4 shoulders I'm not concerned about losing games/rating, so I'll have to give this a try. As for wolfshead I personally just dont think its worth especially since now in s4 you should be running 4 piece t6 and 4 piece pvp gear. The loss of the meta gem plus all the stats and either 15% move speed or 15% finisher dmg just seems like a poor trade for wolfshead, but thats just my opinion. On the topic of talents I actually did drop imp LOTP like you said, but I put those points back into savage fury for 20% more cat mangle dmg. I also dropped 3 points from ferocity and put them into feral aggression, because with the 2 set tier 6 bonus u dont need as much energy cost reduction on cat mangle. All of this stuff is super subjective though and these are just how I do things. Honestly with Sunwell progression (just got muru down) and just some IRL stuff I've fallen behind on trying to post all the things Ive been trying in PvP this season, but I hope to post a lil update on my strat/gear/talent changes and I always love hearin peoples disc/feral strats here in the comments. If ya dont mind me askin what rating are u and ur disc playing at? Sometimes I find that as I play at different ratings (and our team rating can be pretty volatile sometimes lol) that depending on where Im playing my strategy differs a bit.
@@feralfolio385 We’re 2k+ atm and hard capped at around 2100+, haven’t broken out past the 2100 bracket yet. Using both 4 set bonus is probably better but we don’t have the gear to try it yet. You’d be surprised how much Wolfshide Helm actually helps (especially vs mage comps). We keep PvP 4 piece set bonus by dropping PVE legs for PvP legs. The was actually a tip I picked up from Uzb the disc priest that plays with Mir. Uzb has played a lot of feral/disc on pservers over the years. Mage/rogue use to be one of our hardest matchups, but after watching games from a 2400 disc/enhance play vs mage/rogue we decided to go all in on mage as they did. We don’t wait on a pillar (unless mage is invis before game starts). MR is all about setup imo. So going for the immediate pressure on mage to grief the MR’s “perfect opener” is huge. We’ve also noticed by applying pressure on mage there’s just less pressure on us. I didn’t mention it in previous comment that the priest should always be running towards mage with feral. This is important for doing dmg, fearing water elementals and the MR, dispelling ice barriers , spamming the occasional holy nova (while weakened soul debuff is up + extra dmg), Pom bounces, mage might accidentally break blind (this has happened 2x now), etc. A really aggressive approach on MR has been working well for us so far. The highest rated MR we’ve beaten (so far) was just shy of 2300 (s3). If we ever breakout of the 2100 bracket maybe we’ll have to re adapt our strategy.
@@thomasfranklin4909 Yea I think our highest was 2180 or something, but currently sittin at like 2k. Honestly though Rogue/Mage can suck sometimes, but Warrior/Sham has been straight reckin us. Im kinda just in WoTLK waiting room mode though honestly. Also I've seen/watched a lot of UZB stuff, but I also noticed most of the time he was playing undead/tauren on the pservers. Idk if its just playstyle or if its the racial difference, but we struggle with being aggressive.
@@feralfolio385 hmmm, sham/war I feel we almost hard counter. We definitely have been destroyed by the really good war/sham, but feels rare to run into them. We actually struggle vs war/Druid, disc/rogue and rdruid/rogue mostly. FYI, we’re horde and priest is troll with Hex of Weakness (20% reduced healing) which definitely helps, but also comes at a loss to other situations. Our strat vs shaman/war is also a really aggressive one. We go all in on the war. Priest is going ham too. Taking a special effort to killing windfury totem, utilizing feral charge interrupts into bash to setup fears (if wars on priest then feral will go for clones off bash till priest can get close enough for fears). We find the really aggressive approach forces shaman to heal rather then spam purge/dps. If they decide to sit feral, which is rare for us, but does happen. Feral sits bear, interrupting/bashing shaman on cd and priest needs to run at shaman with mana burns/kill totems/fear, otherwise shaman spam purges and dps till priest goes oom healing.
friendly tip, you should remove THORNS. Basically it triggers a warriors enrage ability, and gives them way more dmg output. It counts as if u hit them in ur catform as well :) - if the warrior is left untouched by you and thorns that u buffed priest with, he will do way less dmg, based on his talent choices :)
Ahh we have been removing thorns against warrior/druid now, but only because we've had it break roots a couple times. That's actually really good to know and now we'll be even more on top of getting rid of our thorns against warriors! TY
Man We usually lose 90% of fights vs RM but using these strats we just did 4:1 w/l you're the real OG Folio
i play resto druid with a warrior around 2k rating and i hate going against this comp! lol its really underrated. Good some good tips to help me counter it though so thanks
Very nice thoughts process and explanation, thanks a lot for that. What is the rating of these games?
These games were all in the 1900's. We recently hit 2.1k rating this past week, but we've been more focused on getting our 10 games in and ensuring we get a ton of points over playing a bunch to practice. Hopefully in the next couple weeks after I get my PvP helm and Weapon we'll grind out a ton of games just and try some different strats against a bunch of matchups. Until then I'll be posting some shorter/more focused vids that just highlight our strategies against certain comps.
