    So I could watch a shorter movie after I’m triggered. As long as I’m engaged in both the movie and body sensation etc. the therapy happens. What’s missing?

    No mention about implicit memories so common for CPTSD survivors?

  • @eugeneano285

    I had 5 therapists here is Toronto some MDs, few self trained in EMDR. Best case they took Standard course in EMDR. No wonder none of them could help me. In this video Mark describes my situation. I have many images, memories from my past but my SUDS is minimal and yet I get strong emotional flashbacks / triggers in day to day living. I have been "marinated" in dysfunctional environments. Thank you Mark for not leaving stones unturned. I am finding few more authors who go beyond strict understanding of standard protocol. Shame on those therapists that are content with very basic understanding of EMDR and letting many traumatized suffer while collecting hefty fees.

    I’d like to know why implicit memory manifesting in the present with a trigger could not be used as target. Isn’t the same neural network as the original trauma that needs to be desentisized.

    I have ADHD. Part of ADHD means we have working memory deficits. I’d would love to know how these deficits impact how we both process trauma as it happens and how it might affect the effectiveness of this therapy. Most people with ADHD also have something called RSD (rejection sensitive dysphoria) although not a recognised disorder, most people with ADHD are hyper sensitive to criticism. We do experience more criticism, but I also wondered if the working memory deficits play a part in how we process criticism and trauma. Autistic people also have working memory deficits, but not as severe as ADHDers. People with ADHD and Autism are much more likely to have anxiety, depression, eating disorders, suicidal ideation, emotional disregulation and I wonder how our working memory problems affect our ability to process our emotions.

    • @antoniskaloterakis7996
      @antoniskaloterakis7996 3 місяці тому

      I havent seen the video but since i gave adhd too i can share my experience with you. We do have working memory issues yes. I dont know how it affects the way we respond to trauma but i think that trauma is taxing the working menory and makes the deficit even more. I ve seen through the three years i am doing psychotherapy that as I release trauma my working memory improves. I think rds is caused by the thousands of time times we felt not enough because we daydreamed , we ve been shouted on , forgot what to say etc. Its all about self esteem and if are always the black sheep you internalise the voices of others. I dint know if the lack of working memory is making us unable to process our emotions but i think the problem is that we trully feel the feelings. The intensity is much greater , thats why most of adhder are artists and creators. And i also know that through therapy those feelings can be regulated and managed. So i would suggest to dig your past and also try emdr. Its a really fast way to overcome anything.

    Thank you for opening up a whole new world of helping and therapy for me! I had heard of this, seemingly quite rare and exclusive, form for years and now I see what it is all about - for one the movement of hands rapidly in front of a person's face engages the parts of the brain associated with movement, actions and even threat analysis. Also the way you move your hands is so beautiful - it may will change the way I move, from here on. In a good way.

    I’m not sure why it has to be either/or for bilateral processing vs working memory. It’s clear both reconsolidate memory, both involve a mismatch, both reconsolidate memory. 2.0 (as with Flash technique) gets there quicker but I’m not sure new and improved (which I use) nullifies bilateral processing.

    This is such an important interview. Came up in my feed as recommended because I'm assuming my phone was listening to me when I was talking about my trauma and disassociating. One of the things that I don't know is if I have a system, but I do know that when I honor whatever I am feeling in the moment, whether it is the younger me, the young adult me, the me from 10 years ago, or the now me: I know that I heal more when I see myself in those moments and honor that part of myself.

    This is very helpful. My therapist just recommended these to me. I had Thera tappers before and really liked how I could turn the vibration lower and adjust the speed slower very specifically. Could you show a short video on the speed and intensity ranges? I'm considering buying these since they are wireless, but my therapist has the old ones and said they are definitely stronger and faster than the Thera tappers, even at the low end. I'm really hoping the new version may have corrected that.

      Hello Candma4240. It's great to hear that we came recommended, thank you! Both the intensity and speed can be adjusted via sliders in the app. The motor inside the latest version can run at lower intensities and is less audible.

    The old wired version is virtually silent, although it does require its own dedicated control unit, which also produces sound or allows the use of an external sound source to be run through the unit, if the on board sounds aren't to the client's liking.
