How do I forgive myself for abandoning my marriage and my kids, at a vulnerable time in my life and getting sucked into a cult? I’ve been awful to them. Ive been suicidal for years as I lost all my family 😢😢😢😢
'Art therapy has been using bilateral stimulation for decades' - I don't think so, what evidence is there for this?
Mrs paulsen is there anyway possible of working with you? Virtual sessions , anything ?
🙏 so helpful
Hi, where can we find the links mentioned?
It 100% will replace the human touch because so many people are starved for a certain type of response and AI will become trained to the point of knowing the best response to give the client the best care possible. The kind that the best of the best in the therapy world would give. It can do that every time. Therapists get burned out, aren't always aware of the best way to respond, aren't up on the latest and best tools should be used and how. AI can do any of that with no issues. Now is it not great currently with being accurate? Yeah. But that's just the training of the model. We're only at the beginning. Think dialup to what we have today. 10 years from now, it will not even be recognizable from what it does now vs what it will do then. You talked about using speech to text to dictate notes. That's the kind of data that will go into the models and once it has that, it will know exactly what works and what doesn't and the quickest route from point a to b for that client's specific issues. Eventually I think therapists will probably be the middle man, that gets suggestions from AI on what to do in your next sessions to be the most effective and then after it's perfected that data based on therapist feedback, then the AI will become the therapist.
Bessel van der Kolk, a renowned expert on trauma, does not assert that all traumas are preverbal. However, he emphasizes that many early life traumas are, by nature, preverbal because they occur during infancy or early childhood, a developmental stage before language is fully developed. These early experiences are encoded in the body and the brain's nonverbal systems, often as sensations, emotions, or implicit memories rather than explicit narratives. Key Points from Bessel van der Kolk's Work: Preverbal Trauma: Van der Kolk highlights that trauma experienced in infancy or early childhood is stored in the brain's limbic system (particularly the amygdala), which operates outside the realm of language. As a result, these memories are expressed through physical symptoms, emotional dysregulation, or behavioral patterns rather than conscious recollections. Body as a Repository: In his book The Body Keeps the Score, van der Kolk explains that trauma, especially preverbal trauma, manifests in the body through physiological patterns like chronic tension, pain, or a heightened stress response.
This didn't actually make sense for use with DID. It utterly denies what DID is she instead talks around it. IFS is NOT recommended for DID.

Just what I was looking for ❤
Are these podcasts still available as audio versions? I prefer just listening to them.
Hi from Australia
Hi from Denver, Colorado!
Hello from Baton Rouge LA
I'm not sure it serves us to have therapists putting themselves (i.e. the therapeutic relationship) at the heart of therapy. Even if it's true, we should do better and create systems that don't have such a high barrier to entry; so few people, even in the first world, have access to a therapist at all, let alone one with a UA-cam channel.
Tom is such a role model. He could easily turn four blinks into an expensive training that excludes less privileged clinicians (and in turn their less privileged clients) but he prioritizes making this healing accessible for everyone. He has a knack for explaining very complicated information in ways that overworked and overwhelmed clinicians can still understand. I was working in a rural substance use recovery setting and was able to get most of my coworkers to take his free flash training, they could not afford emdr basic but now they have a transformational trauma processing technique to use with clients who really need it I don’t think it’s possible for me to admire a human being more. Thank you so much
Agreed! 100%! Tom Zimmerman is one of the most inspiring EMDR professionals in the world.
When will psytechvr be available at the local level? I see an explosion of available EMDR practitioners compared to just a few years ago. Are there professional standards for quality control?
These are good questions: PsyTechVR works on developing an EMDR tools. As for professional standards - are you referring to EMDR in general or to VR-EMDR?
I think EMDRIA approval of EMDR courses is THE quality control I know about. Other than that, there are not rigorous standards.
@@HammyGirl999 - first, EMDRIA's approval of courses is only for EMDRIA approved trainings. There are other EMDR organizations around the world and they are not all in alignment.
¿Hola Ana, buenas tardes, un gusto saludarte! ¿Para cuándo saldrá el libro de EMDR y Caja de Arena ?
Could it be an over sensitivity to micro aggressions? Stop looking for that Ah Ha! moment that may not exist. That's a rabbit hole to no end
Sounds like this was part of a series of videos? Where can the remainder of it be watched?
Amazing
I love this way to conceptualize complex trauma and resourcing it’s been so helpful for my practice. Tom has so much patience teaching it and offering this information for free, amazing human
Just be careful that the very person who claims to heal trauma doesn’t also cause it. Not all practitioners are the same.😅
Lovely videos ❤🎉
Had me interested until hearing “MicroUSB”. Wake me when you implement USB-C…
How do I find a preverbal EMDR therapist who can work with my 10 year old adopted daughter?
@KristinePound - reach out to Deb at www.centerforneuropotential.com/bio/ - she trained many therapists in this modality
Thank you so much. I will.
Love your work Mark. I love you book, I just wish you would have published in a work book size ie A4. Thanks anyway Dr Marsha Taylor from UK.
Thank you so much for this wonderful message!!! Thank you for the hard work you do in this field, and please keep sharing information on resources for us. I wish the program in nc was not just for students. There is such a need for help here…
I’m disabled, and bedridden with cptsd. Is it possible to do this from home? I’ve had treatment with emdr in office, but I’m wondering if there is something that can replicate the lights and sounds and vibrations at home? I don’t understand how this treatment is not already in place in every office! It saved my life, and I had years of therapy before finally getting help. How can we advocate for ourselves to insurance carriers that are not willing to see the benefits yet?
Merci!
You are so very welcome! Are you an EMDR Therapist?
Not sure where are the scripts link?
Thank you for making this available to everyone, not only professional therapists.❤
2:43 Did he say the year 10,000 AD? I know it was a slip of the tongue, but the editor should fix that
This was wonderful! I am so glad you don't take past lives literally, but still just it as a construct to head. I love your rational approach. Bless you
Where can we find Mark Brayne's 5 part series?
You can find Mark's course in emdr-learning.com
Thank you Mark, I love to learn more about AI- EMDR. I love learning and developing more skills. 1st.. reading some of the books. Danke Heike
Great talk!
So I could watch a shorter movie after I’m triggered. As long as I’m engaged in both the movie and body sensation etc. the therapy happens. What’s missing?
Get that arrow off her nose OMG
I absolutely love the way of presenting tree pose ❤
Yay ❤🎉
Great channel for worthwhile EMDR interviews!
This is so helpful! Thank you!!!
Thanks for bringing veterans of the field and workable valuable insights to new practitioners. Very much appreciated.
No mention about implicit memories so common for CPTSD survivors?
I had 5 therapists here is Toronto some MDs, few self trained in EMDR. Best case they took Standard course in EMDR. No wonder none of them could help me. In this video Mark describes my situation. I have many images, memories from my past but my SUDS is minimal and yet I get strong emotional flashbacks / triggers in day to day living. I have been "marinated" in dysfunctional environments. Thank you Mark for not leaving stones unturned. I am finding few more authors who go beyond strict understanding of standard protocol. Shame on those therapists that are content with very basic understanding of EMDR and letting many traumatized suffer while collecting hefty fees.
I’d like to know why implicit memory manifesting in the present with a trigger could not be used as target. Isn’t the same neural network as the original trauma that needs to be desentisized.
Thank you Thomas- very understandable and relevant to my work. And I love metaphors too!
Great information and very effective techniques for going beyond basic protocol for us folks with complex trauma/dissociation. I highly highly recommend Knipe’s EMDR toolbox to any emdr clinician
what if all therapists began their training in poetry and metaphors?! imagining this!
