Happy memories of Sounding Retreat at the Peninsular Barracks in the 70s and early 80s and listening to the practice for weeks before.

Brilliant Band playing music in a style which is completely different to that played by other German Bands.

An excellent "professional" performance - better than a number of Regular Army bands!

Very proud part of my life when I served in the 3rd battalion Royal Green Jackets as a band member between 1975 to 1984 and watching this makes my hair stand on end.

Have a tear in my eye watching this as I was in 3 RGJ band from 75 to 84 and very proud I was and love the take on 1812.

I was also a Bugler on this...

August 26th I will have served 50 years unbroken with the British Army, finishing in uniform with the Rifles, now with The Yorkshire Regiment. High On The Hill still makes the hair on my neck rise when it is played so well.

Absolutely marvellous band, definitely the highlight of this annual parade. The first time I saw them I thought. "Gosh, it's The Rifles Band" (or one of their predecessors). I was astonished to hear they're actually German. You simply could not tell the difference - they're just like the real thing: the uniforms, the boots, the bugles, the pace and the music. I understand they used to have the "Green Jackets" at their "Schutzenfest" in Neuss and when the British forces withdrew from Germany, people in Neuss felt so sad about it that they simply decided to form their own light infantry band. And within just a few years they have developed into a first class act. Well done and keep going!
