Hello fellow mainer, I purchased a reseller ruler. You should look it up, I'm able to show the measurements in the pictures. I also use banker boxes for my inventory, usually average 12 clothing items per box and I just number the boxes. We are in sidney maine

not sure what to say other than sorry. That sounds horrible, especially when you called Square support. I reached out internally at Square to see what happened and to remedy it and hopefully change some processes so this doesn't happen again.

Square is run by idiots. In my case, they completely played themselves in an attempt to screw me over.. I used them for my business from 2010-2019 and never had an issue. One day they just stopped depositing funds to my account. I had done like 4 service calls over the weekend equaling about $1000 that were ran through square and just weren't being deposited. Some of that was for parts that installed into customers computers. I logged into the site and could not figure out what was happening. I looked for a customer service phone number that they hide from you on purpose. I finally found a number to call and it was just a recorded message asking for a pin number to allow me to speak to someone live. It says, go on the website and apply for a pin. So, i did. I went online, requested the pin via email (the only option) and then waited, and waited, and waited, it never came. I redid the process several times. There was no way to figure out what was happening. So, i figured if i refunded the payments, they would have to give the customer's money back. So, i called all of the customers and told them i couldn't get paid, if i refunded their card could they just pay me with a check and i would come by after they saw the refund on their account and pick it up in person. Luckily they were all cool with it, and eventually i received my payments directly via check, but i had to drive all over town to collect those. I then looked further back in the history of my transactions...and I found out they had reversed an $8000 payment that i received from a customer for no apparent reason. But since they had already sent me the $8000 into my bank account, i never noticed the reversal, because i had been paid already. and that's what i figured triggered them no longer depositing my account the monies that were accumulating there. I never could get anyone to talk to me about the issue but I did receive 1 letter in the mail explaining that i needed to pay them $8000 because they had reversed that credit card charge. But since i could never get anyone to respond to emails that i had sent, or had a way to talk to anyone live about it, I just said forget them. About 6 months later I actually received an email response from them that was clearly just a bot that didn't even deal with the issue i had emailed them about in the first place. So, this has been about 5 years now and I never heard anything else from them. They cost themselves $8K and didn't even try to figure out what happened. How they are still in business, is beyond me.

SQ is in SF. What a surprise they treated you poorly. Many in SF think they are above the rest because they have a hugely unwarranted superiority complex. In reality, SF is the startup scam capital of the world. Your revenge will be that AI will take their jobs inside three years.

My square account got deactivated yesterday after holding an account with them in 2023. They kept pushing me to do a facial scan of myself through some 3rd party app veriff. not only is that a privacy breach, but they had my info to begin with. So they deactivated my payouts and despite reaching out to them, I get no answer. I need a better processor than square and I used square because they can do payouts in as little as one day. with other processors I might have to wait 1+ weeks. This is sad.

I'm using Square now but changing soon. Their phone ap sucks at a festival.

I think more resellers need to do this, you are in the business of selling not storing items 80% for me is a bit much i would have maybe tried 50% off but way to go. As long as you are in profit thars all that matters.

I always do 10%, but I think we get caught up in thinking our items are “precious” and special and honestly some that have been hanging around for years need to GO! I’m gonna take that advice. Maybe not 80% (cuz I’m a scardey cat) but I think I’m going to put the old stuff at 50%. Start the new year off right!

FWIW, I learned about the custom SKU from another eBay channel, and it was a lifesaver. I took that one more step and added removable labels to my items which includes the same info as the listing title, item #, and location. Since I have to drive to my storage unit, I'll print a pick list that helps me pull items quickly and efficiently.

My main income was ebay in the 90's, I never had more than 10 items available haha, I never had a return. Things are mental now. I'm sure you have this :)

Funny, I was just giving myself a pep talk about actually showing the measurements in the pictures. I have always done the measurements but have become aware that people often don't read the descriptions. Today I had a return request for a pair of pants that do not fit, too small. The measurements are in the listing. I have watched several resellers who strongly recommend showing the measure tape or stick so someone can't dispute your measurements. Guess it's time. An inventory system is a very goods idea but it overwhelms me just thinking about it! Happy New Year!!

I came back to re-watch. I thought I owned the journal that you showed and I finally checked today. Sure enough, I do. My son got it for me for Christmas some years ago. I'm kind of inconsistent at doing entries but I will do one about our Christmas this year. I watch and re-watch your videos and shorts because you find such interesting things! I don't even sell used, except for a few things here and there that my kids no longer want. But, hopefully, one day I will be able to go to the bins and check things out.
