I know being not so religious is okay for me. I don't see any issues with it. Similarly for someone who is much into religion might know better what works best for them , I mean changing religion isn't a light decision (at least for the people I know ) , It has a lot of impact and your parents might have choosen it very thoughtfully. It's like you may know and understand more about religion than your parents but they have lived that ideology (religion ) and might have chosen to go with it according to their and societal needs. They have more experience and practical knowledge about what's ok and might be that's why still clinging to a specific religion. Consider a fish is born in aquarium water and knows more about aquarium and its environment along with other aquarium creatures , and then that fish found better food and great temperature once and starts to live in ocean so it'll be fresh start for the fish, that food and temperature might just be temporary and the fish who's habitual of aquarium may not do great in long run and perhaps won't be able get along much with ocean creatures (vice versa as well : ocean fish might have the same situation when deciding to live in aquarium ) . Instead of thinking for apparent reason(s) look at it from practical point of view (they have lived that religion and you know the conclusions) . There are scenarios where a person may know better about religion than his/her parents. I'm just saying the person should look into other aspects as well moreover only that person might know what works best for him/her. Just understand that religion associate you to a specific group and formation of religious views take a lot of time. I'm not forcing you to stick to a particular religion it's just like if someone is changing religion cause of some issues with life, chances are those issues may be temporarily and might appear later even after changing the religion because what you are actually facing issues in, is life. In short, what works for others or specific group might not work for you (or people with having similar views as you) in long run just cause it's working now (it's like winning lottery once doesn't mean you'll winning it every time so please go with what's reliable and seems more practical) . Life is short, doing what is best for you , matters more than which religion are you from.
