    I'm confused.Did you reverse the design. Does it matter what side you punch on. I want to make a patch and iron it on to a T-shirt. It will be a letter so I am thinking it needs to be reversed? Thanks Charlotte

    Thanks for this super helpful video! I wanted to ask if ironing is necessary to set to patches, and also, is the jacket washable with the patches attached? Thank you!

    You showed several fabrics at the beginning that were various thicknesses, but you seemed to use the thinnest fabric for the bowl. Is that because you found it easier to use? Liked The color? Would you have done the weaving differently or slightly differently somehow if you were using the towel or more dense fabric?--What about the rope that you showed at the beginning--why didn't you use that instead of the cotton rope? Are you going to make more baskets with these other materials at some point? I have made fabric wrapped baskets using a sewing machine and a zig zag stitch, but it is a bit hard on the machine even using cotton rope. Hope to try your technique soon. thanks!

    Was going to recover/upholster my thrifted fire side chair as its thread bare in some places, mainly the arms but also its brown and has nylon type material thats a bit squeekie and horrid. The chair however is so comfy for crafting, x stitch, crocheting or even reading a book, thats if the cat doesn't try and push me off of it. At the moment it just has a throw over it until i decided what material to use to recover it or if it should make a cover and tuck it round. Now ive seen you weave onto it im so going to try it as it looks amazing and can use a variety of colours including some patchwork in somw places sort of mix and match. Ive got a long scarf loom so have a little weaving experience and think that it should turn out ok. Also im actually looking forward to it rather than dreading the task as pulling off the old material is to hard on the hands and fingers plus will probably expose really old foam and i would be tempted to pull it back to bare bones and replace the foam and strapping too. Anyways thanks so much for this great idea i will definitely check out you're other videos now ive seen this.

    Can you please suggest which mordant should be use to make the dye fix for longer period of time

    • @ta-daan9009
      @ta-daan9009 11 місяців тому

      Thank you for your question! So this depends on the fabric you will use. Before dyeing, it is important to check whether the item is ‘Prepared for Dyeing’ (PFD) or requires scouring to remove any grease, oil or starch. If you google, you'll find easily a big list of mordants (many natural mordants too). The most commonly used mordants are Alum (Potassium Aluminium Sulphate), Copper (Copper Sulphate), Tin (Stannous Chloride), and Iron (Ferrous Sulphate). These are used in various combinations for mordanting wool, silk and other protein fibres. The process of mordanting cotton, linen and other cellulose fibre for natural dyeing is different in that the mordants do not stick to the fibre. The cellulose fibre needs first to be soaked in a solution of tannin so that a mordant can attach itself to the tannin.
