#miracle #gladiator #again #herbbrooks #mikeeruzione #whodoyouplayfor #maximus #metanoia
Gladiator and Miracle. Two GREAT movies, with many great scenes. But 1 scene from each stands out. Maximus Vengeance speech and Miracle’s “Who do you play for? Or ‘Again’ scene.
Through these scenes we can look further into midpoints, metanoia, the masculine quality of binding and more.

She’s so intense and obsessed with fighting I sometimes find myself clenching my teeth holding my breath while watching her. Aragorn showed more emotion than she did, and he’s an actual man!

yea idk why people struggle so much with writing women. i heard talking to women helps tho. also i hate that people are still forced into their masculinity/femininity. it should be logical that you need balance, but should act on what feels more natural to you. there is no point forcing yourself to be a nurterer if you're more of a provider. doing a bit of both is the right thing to do, but your role is what comes naturally to you. no matter what gender you were assigned at birth.

ROP Not-Galadriel is Episode II Anakin but even worse because he was 19 and she's thousands of years old. She should have matured Anyway ROP is garbage fanfiction a la The Last Jedi... don't even bother with it Support the Warner Bros films coming out in Peter Jackson's world as they release over the next few years

Men that are written in the same way as girlbosses like ROP's Galadriel still makes them unlikable and boring. Girlbosses are just trendy now but it's insufferable in either gender.

An interesting point G.K.Chesterton put forward is that men's societal role, in general, is as the specialist, a somewhat unnatural thing for a human being to be, but more befitting men. Men, being specialists, dedicate almost all of their significant efforts towards the perfection and practice of some particular trade. This is a necessary role, in the state of our fallen world, but it is not the ideal of a human life. Rather, that ideal is pursued by women, the jacks of all trades. To call a woman a home maker is almost a understatement, unless you really know what that means. She is a teacher, a cook, a manager, a quartermaster, a gardener, an artist, a priestess, and much more. To call the woman's place one of drudgery, is to misunderstand what drudgery is. Drudgery is the place of the man. The grindstone, the office, the workshop. A woman's workshop is the whole world, and what's bigger, the whole home. Understandably, the specialists are the expendable ones, because the role of the priestess cannot be expensed with. Theirs is the lifeblood of a society, they are what make life worth living. If there were not enough plumbers and scientists and laborers to go around, society would slow down. If there were not enough women, it would stop. Because what the men drudge for would cease to be.

I keep returning to this video, It makes so much sense. Now with all the snow white controversy going around, I watched the original 1937 cartoon and was reminded of this video Snow white doesnt chase the evil witch and becomes the leader she knows she can be. She cares for and nurtures the dwarves and that gives them the strength and drive to chase off the witch.

Nice story bro but simply Eowyn is a nice human character that has emotions and is relatable while Guyladriel is just annoying and her characters would be annoying even if it was a man playing it.

Eowyn was cringe too. The way she says "I am no man" right before killing the witch king was SO BAD! Like the only reason she could kill him was because shes a wOmAnZ. Dumb feminist BS always ruins a good movie or show. Women just........... Suk....

ROP isn't canon material(thats good). What do you expect from amazonia, the directors dont even read the books, let alone to make characters accurate. Only Sauron was likeble in this show somehow.

Any recommendations of books where the female character is "strong", has more of a feminine energy than masculine, and not super sarcastic/snarky?

  • @TNTspaz

You visibly see her terrified and work up the courage to face an insurmountable opponent. Not for herself but for the people around her. She literally goes through a character arc just with her eyes alone. It does so much in such a short span of time. Does more than most entire shows managed to pull off in multiple seasons in a matter of minutes

i think you should stop imposing womne as being nurturing or forced t be loving eowyn was lucky to have a caring uncle and not be abused waht about in reality when women are raped or even neglected or left behind by their fathers due to death she has no hope and trust on anyone does that mean they are not feminine??? Mulan fighting for her father is respectable but even if she is fighting for her vision fo china nothing wrong in that

In lotr, she's about 4,500 years older, which can be masked as character development, in RoP I kinda see her as a reckless young elf who's always in the wrong place at the wrong time

This was the REASON I hated the Captain Marvel movie with a burning passion. In the comics she becomes Marvel when her beloved husband (Mar-Vel) is literally MURDERED in front of her. Having bore witness to the destruction of the masculine, the destruction of the thing she nurtured, the destruction of her world as she knew it, she TRANSFORMS. She becomes a fucking SUPER NOVA and decided that the small world she protected must expand. Her circle of protection becomes the entire fucking UNIVERSE. THAT is a powerful feminine origin story. It’s human. It’s divine. It’s JUSTICE. She goes on to be one of the great powers of the universe, one that is fair and queenly, without ever forgetting the loss that was the catalyst to her metamorphosis. As a lover of her and She-Hulk, it was a fucking travesty what they did to them. I wanted to see women being women, fighting like women, and kicking the bad guy’s ass the same way Eowyn kicked ass. Instead I got empty, blustering arrogance and a weak tea plot line. What a feast reduced to gruel! 😢

Good lord give her character some time to breath. It's a completely different age by the time TLOTR takes place which is over 1000 years, so maybe in that amount of time she had some... character development? Imagine that! I swear, people look for every reason to hate on this show when in reality it's not that bad. ESPECIALLY when you compare it to how starwars has been handled lately, Amazon has been very gentle in comparison 😂😭

Eowyn in the beginning stays by the side of her corrupted uncle, because she knows who he really is and trusts that the good man is still there. That’s what strong women do, as someone said, women make men out of boys. They see the man and as a result he sees himself and like from the womb, emerges. That’s our greatest strength, love. Pure and unwavering. It endures, and if it must, it will carry us into battle.

I admire most of what you say here. You uphold femininity as strength. Toxic masculinity despises femininity as weakness. I think of Puah, Shiphrah, Yochebed, Miriam, and Pharaoh's daughter, and their roles in protecting Baby Moses in the wake of a decree to drown all the Israelite baby boys. I think of Vashti's defiance and dignity, and how that paved the way for Esther's humility and shrewdness. I think of Deborah and Jael. Heck, even Mary and Martha. If men will give proper honor to women and not suppress our minds, souls, talents, humanity, and civil rights, it will be easier for us women to embrace our femininity with dignity instead of shame, and to give freely instead of withholding with suspicion. BTW, although I agree with the reciprocity of female and male, marriage is not for everybody. There are ways for single women and single men to live full, meaningful lives, to express and receive love, without a romantic association.

Its interesting to think how versatile dostoevakys way of this king was. Its very hard to figure out what dostoevaky truly believed. This quote is obviously a religious one, so maybe dostoevaky was religious? But in the same book he provides the most compelling argument for atheism through Ivan
