In this video I explain how to light the pilot on a gas logs set. There are many gas appliances that have this exact valve or one very similar to it. If your gas valve looks like this one and you can't get your pilot to light (or stay lit!) this is the video for you. Hope it helps.

It’s fall now and I messed up and did not light my fireplace throughout the summer now it will not turn on. I tried restarting it on the remote but it will not work.

Can I have a 150 and a 400? My wife would like the simple on/off and I would like the features.
Unfortunatley no, only 1 remote can be paired at a time.
@@thefireplacehelper Actually, since I asked this question, I have found out that you can have both the 150 and the 400. The instructions say: "To program both an IFT-RC400 and an IFT RC150 to an IFT-ECM, repeat the same steps separately for the IFT-RC400 and the IFT-RC150."
My majestic gas fireplace just stopped. Remote batteries are good. How to trouble shoot?
The first thing I would recommend it to recycle power to the appliance to reset the control board. Unplug it and plug it back in.
With out a doubt, this is the worst remote I have ever used. Light goes out after a few seconds, the buttons always send you to the menu when you're just trying to turn the flame on or off. Really poor design!
I actually agree with you here. I really wish there was an option to extend the screen light up time from 5seconds to 10seconds or even 15seconds. It was designed for 5seconds to prolong the battery useage. Maybe on the next version.
Hello. My remote was set to CPI. And idk if I did something by accident. But not it will not stay on. I moved it back and forth from ipi to cpi and nothing. Removed batteries too. It will work with my app. It will stay on just not with my controller if I were to use it.
Try resetting power to the appliance. If that does not work you may need a new remote.
I have an Allen & Roth ventless system with thermostatic remote that is not working. I have replaced all the batteries and tried to reset the learn by holding learn button for for a full minute and no beeps, nothing. At the end of winter last year, I “closed” the fireplace by removing batteries. My question is… what else can I try before ordering a new transmitter and remote? And then if I have to order a new remote, will any two wire system work?
Is there a way to save your settings so I don’t have to go through all the settings each time I turn the fireplace on?
The remote should remember the last used setting for flame height, however fan speed and light settings will need to be adjusted at each use.

How to turn flame off when remote needs resetting and won’t work??
The easiest way would be to unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet, or shut the gas off at the main line using the shut off valve. And most state codes require there be a shut off valve within a few feet of the appliance. The RC 400 manual can be found with a quick Google search and will have repairing instructions. If that fails call a qualified technician.
