Well there was many elements before him. Ask Japan Studios, soulslike was a genre that was brewing loooong before Myazaki. If you hear anyone saying that Myazaki is the godfather of soulslike genre you can spot filthy casual youtuber immediately.
But he made it popular

Right? I have enjoyed these games but it has reached levels of absurdity that it had almost turned me against him. They dont talk about other games. They dont talk about the issues. Its a swarm of people maximizing on the series greatness AFTER they "made it". Its no longer interesting or unique to like Fromsoftware's games. At the very least have actual opinions 😭
