Most of my barbel fishing is with 10lb but often go to 12 if rocky for line rub the 8 lb I use on a 1.25 rod if I drop to a even softer rod and no snags about I’ll drop to 5lb if conditions are hard but if on heavy rods like 2.2 I will usually stick with the 12 and use 12 hooklinks

Cheers the rods definitely bend well I’m on way home now cut the session short the temp is dropping the river is low and clear don’t think the barbell will switch on
Cheers for subscribing the rods are 1.75 and the reels are 6000 size shimano x aero I’ve used 4000 size as well but like the bigger reels to cope with the bigger weights I’m using when the river is up

I fish NW rivers myself, and do some you tube stuff, mostly fly fishing , but coarse fishing in the winter. Good luck with your channel, I'm sure it will take off if you have a few vids like this!

Tickle trout has some of the biggest barbel I know or join the Prince Albert it has all the best stretches I’ve been a member for years

No it doesn’t effect it much just fish it will produce anytime
