How to Stay Calm and Positive in Life | Buddhist Story
How to Stay Calm and Positive in Life | Buddhist Story
Today, we'll delve into Buddhism's profound teachings, which will provide essential insights on how you can stay positive and discover inner peace in the midst of life's problems. The Lesson is aimed to improve your mental and emotional well-being, and it serves as a comprehensive guide for anyone looking to create a more calm, conscious, and joyous life.
Today's lesson is organized into seven major steps, each aimed to help you on your road to self-improvement and spiritual growth. The first phase emphasizes the value of mindfulness and remaining optimistic, instructing you on how to develop a mental garden in which seeds of positivity bloom into a joyous existence. It demonstrates how mindfulness, or the discipline of being fully present, may improve ordinary events while protecting one from negativity.
The second phase, gratitude, is described as a transforming discipline that goes beyond social niceties and into profound spiritual exercises. By acknowledging the interconnectivity of all things and cultivating contentment, You learn to see the beauty in everyday moments, improving their overall quality of life.
The third phase focuses on self-compassion, encouraging you to treat yourself as a close friend. This part emphasizes the importance of cultivating positive self-talk and employing affirmations to promote self-esteem.
Physical health is not disregarded, with the fourth stage emphasizing the importance of treating the body like a temple. This comprehensive approach includes nutrition, exercise, and mental health, creating a healthy lifestyle that fosters spiritual growth.
The fifth stage focuses on embracing change and personal progress, encouraging You to move beyond of their comfort zones and connect with life's dynamic nature. This part encourages personal development by trying new things and keeping an open mind about life's limitless possibilities.
The sixth step teaches the concept of attainable goals via Buddhism's "middle path". It encourages developing realistic, attainable objectives that motivate and guide you without overwhelming you, generating a sense of accomplishment and ongoing improvement.
Finally, the seventh step encourages you to engage in activities that offer you joy and fulfillment, emphasizing the necessity of nurturing the soul by matching your behaviors with personal beliefs and goals.
Overall, this video is great for you, who want to enrich their lives through mindful practices and Buddhist teachings, as it provides practical techniques and philosophical insights that encourage a more content, optimistic, and balanced approach to life's journey.

Our culture has long since turned away character training, and oh, don’t forget there is no Bible training and former parents (grandparents) did not role model taking care of their parents…so the curse goes on and on to the third and fourth generation…the Ten Commandments. We have long ago given up the family culture for the making money culture.

I absolutely do NOT understand anyone blaming their parents for their failures as adults. When we grow up, we are supposed to take responsibility for our own lives and leave our childhood behind. My parents were DEFINITELY NOT perfect, but they were also not responsible for any of the stupid choices I made in my adulthood. I made my own choices...the good ones and the bad ones...and the consequences of my choices belong to nobody but me.

Our children have no obligation to take care of us. We parents have brought them to this world and we’re responsible to be there for them. if they’re busy with their lives and jobs and children of their own: we should be grateful that they’re healthy enough to function well and form relationships. What’s better than that?! Remember, your children are not your friends. We all need to have friends to fill our daily life so we don’t need to turn to our children for daily chitchat. 😊

Today it is order of the day, today children do not stay with their parents, due to livelihood, it is under stood, but the lack of mental attachment with their parents is painful, today what ever they are, it a hard work and sacrifices of their parents. our generation was much more caring and loving for their family ❤

I noticed there was no spouse with the old man in any photos. So, loneliness. Only in the last photo was a senior woman shown. Why? Is it intimated he was a widower? The older one gets the more difficult to 'change/adapt' to new circumstances of life. But change we must or we may as well dig our grave...the inevitable slow downhill spiral. Yes, if possible, be close to your grown children and grandchildren. But Never lay your burdens on their shoulders, they have enough to bear in their own lives. Take action! Cultivate a new life for yourself, best as you can, step by step. Cultivate interests, hobbies, activities that make you happy and fulfilled. Enjoy, be grateful for the simple things Creator has blessed you with. Go out in the community and be of service. These will renew you in your old age. I'm learning 2 languages, salsa dancing and a big trip is on the horizon. Never stop having goals for your life (Big or Small)! You can be an inspiration and set an example to young people. They will be marveling at your tenacity and "at your age"! Acknowledge and give your children Kudos for doing a good job. Back off on criticizing how they live their life...never does any good anyway...just leads to estrangement/resentment. SMILE at them, LOVE them just as they are (difficult as that may be sometimes, just do it). I am Fortunate to be a Moma and Grandma, doing the best I can...and that is enough!

A young man had a lovely family. He had a young son whom he adored, nurtured and raised well. He gave the boy the best of clothes and food and sent him to the best school. But the man wasn’t so kind to his old parents. He used to treat them shabbily, giving them only the left over foods after all had eaten in shabby utensils. He did not care to give them proper clothes from time to time as well. When his parents died he picked up the old clothes as also the old utensils that they used, to discard them now that they were gone. His young son came running and said “father don’t throw these”. The father asked “why? these are of no use to us now”. “I’ll give it you when you grow old” the son said. The father was stunned and perhaps understood what he had done.

Then make sure you don't 'coddle' them turning them into 'ungrateful, entitled, lazy, whinners'! Soon as they are able, give them responsibilities they can accomplish. Tell them "Good Job" and give them even more. They will become stronger, capable, independent individuals and thank you for it...later. btw SHOW them Your Love (and not so much instant gratification to all their whims...no matter how much they beg, cry or whine!) Teach them to save for what they really want, give them extra duties they can get paid for. They then pay half and you help with the other half. They will be so proud of their accomplishment and really VALUE that article! It will also teach Patience!

In Sanatan Dharma Bhagvad Gita, teachers us to refrain from attachment to all things material, even their own children. Buddhism is one small part of Sanatan Dharma. Read Srimad Bhagvad Gita and the wider teachings of the Vedic scriptures. Everyone is an individual, and one should always fend for him or herself. One should never depend upon their children. Children are not part of you they only come through you for the continuity of human species. Everyone comes as an individual and departs as an individual. Sat,Chit Ananda - Truth, consciousness, and bliss are the individuals' ultimate goal to pass through this world without suffering.

  • @ikkong8436
    @ikkong8436 5 днів тому

Attachment is suffering as taught by the Buddha. Even if the children and grandchildren were close to us and kept our days fulfilled, the day of parting which must come sooner or later filled the hearts with much pain and sorrow. The 3 characteristics of existence, according to the Buddha, are annicca (impermanence), dukkha (suffering) and anatta (non/not self).

How dumb is this! If you have a heart attack or break a leg, your neighbours and friends are under no obligation to help you. Even if you lucky and they get you to hospital, they are under no obligation to check regularly on your progress and take you back home when you are discharged. I once observed the pathetic sight of an old man in a leading hospital, wearing hospital clothing, with a urine bag at his waist, possibly connected to a catheter, standing in queue in the billing section! Obviously, he had no one to even take his credit card to the billing section. Your partner and your children are obliged to help you at difficult times - even if they detest the sight of you. And most of the time, they do honour their obligation, even if you have serious differences with them. It is always better to stay with or close to one's children in old age, not for any high falutin' reasons like 'happiness' or 'peace of mind' or 'companionship', but for simple self preservation. It is old people's own interest. In old age, something's gotta give, sooner or later, possibly sooner rather than later, you can bet your life on it. Sure, if you have a partner significantly younger than yourself, you don't need your children nearby. He/she will take care of you in any emergency. If your partner is around the same age as yourself, you will still need your children, as he/she will be as weak and vulnerable as yourself. But if your are alone, you damn well need your children in old age. If a person does not have children, or is very keen not to stay close to his/her children, he/she had better book into an assisted living facility EARLY with attendants to help with daily chores and doctors available round the clock. However, these places cost quite a bit, much more than living alone in an apartment would.

I lived with my three children during my youth, over 25 years. I have absolutely no desire to live with them in my golden years, 25 years was enough. I also do not feel my kids owe me anything other than perhaps their respect and a visit or phone call once in a while. I have no interest at all in living with any of them, I like my privacy, peace and quiet too much. I love them but had enough of that living together arrangement.

When you are young , ALWAYS work , save and invest towards financial independence during old age. No one likes to be fully dependent on , even your own self to depend on others !! Staying close to your family members or best friends is a blessing !!

The gender changes of pronouns throughout the narration are jarring and unnecessary. Please correct to match the referenced subject. (“Him” versus “her,” “he” versus “she,” etc.)

Balance is so important. When my parents and in-laws expected and insisted that my husband and I take care of their many needs, we gave up our own dreams of getting more fulfilling jobs far away and instead juggled working unhappy jobs and raising our own children with handling the older generation’s demands. To say those decades were difficult is a huge understatement. Now that they are gone and we have become the older generation, our adult children live where their fulfilling jobs happen to be, thousands of miles away. We miss being with them and seeing our grandchildren grow. Visits from them and of us to them are rare due to the demands of their jobs and our physical difficulties in traveling. FaceTime phone visits are woefully inadequate. We continue to support them when they will allow it, but we still resist being “helicopter” parents, hovering too closely and demanding anything. So the “other” grandparents get most of their attention. Our offspring are scattered across the country, so even though we would love to live closer to them we would have to pick just one. If this ever comes about we would still not want to live too closely even though as we age (we’re in our 70’s now) we could use more support from them. And then there’s the issue of having to leave our current friends and start over in a new city. None of these choices are easy. But balance is important for everyone involved.

Sure, man, as long as you are happy with what you do and not affecting anyone negatively, nothing else matters in this life but you.

If you really wants to enjoy life, live life with attachment with detachment. Too much of attachment will create sorrow in your life. So live life with attachment with detachment.

Living close is not the same as living with. Living far from your children is bad. I am not a Buddhist and I do not believe Buddhists believe this crap,
