I made this a few years ago as part or a series of comedy shorts to advertise NSL UK. This one was never released, so I thought I’d put it out there as an example. It was created in Cinema 4D, using poser pro for the character animation. Characters are copyright NSL UK and used in all their marketing. Wonderful to see Piper… He was clearly an outsider in sone ways, like all true artists really. His work is so remarkably English - playful and dramatic, eccentric. Thanks for putting this doc up… I remember seeing it at the time it was shown.

This is a great example of how many great painters there were in England, especially in the first half of the 20th century. Living in Canada, none of these people are household names, but their work is often great enough that they should be better known outside of the UK. So for me it's like discovering a whole new art movement. I guess it would be like someone in another part of the world discovering The Group of 7 & Tom Thomson for the first time. Revered here, but not well known at all outside of Canada. But as my Art History professor once told me - "You can't possibly know it all, there's too much. But go and discover as much as you can anyway." I enjoyed the video thoroughly. I love seeing artists in their natural environments, or where they are most comfortable. It's when they are most likely where they will reveal what they really feel or think about their work. Thanks for uploading it.

The Easel Rider Glad you liked it. The South Bank Show made many of these biographical movies of artists, but they are really hard to find. A friend had a video recording from the 80’s, so I was able to convert it. I should look for more to preserve these records.

Thank you very much for uploading this - I have admired Piper's work since I was a teenager. I live in France so it's really nice to get documentaries (especially about art & artists) in english and when I want them and when able to - I've got a brain injury and need to pause videos & replay bits I've missed, got mo telly here nor record box as I had in UK and can't do it plus nowhere comfy where I live & box by front door of flat where wind whistles in & water comes in & I can't fix it & landlord won't and desperate for adapted place to live. Sorry, gone off track = THANK YOU for uploading this, I know not top quality from VHS but I managed to watch & understand it ALL and usually I can't get through a video this long. BIG thanks for you time/effort = much appreciated, Piper was SUCH a great artist. WOW!!! I do art but although I'm proud of some of it I wish I could do stuff as good as he did and especially landscapes & buildings = I can't!
