Lovely performance which I enjoyed very much, except for the fact that the da capo markings were ignored which has fatally flawed the performance and diminished the sonata irreparably. Was this a competition performance where da capo markings must be ignored according to the rules ? (An indefensible practice).

I think in our current time period, the life of the human is much faster paced in movement, perhaps sadly in romance, and even more unfortunate in time available for introspection. These pieces were written with a fast horse as the best way to travel. Life would have been walking pace, and long walks do not lend themselves to scrambling over hillsides. I think this piece sounds fantastic from your fingers at .75 speed. I think the piece, is simply too complex for the listener to fathom and feel, at the pace you manage well in this recording. And I think it's important to remember that listener, and perhaps that author and his time, to get a performance that matches everything with an optimum. Clearly the technical skill, and a feeling for the piece exist in the presenter, and it's obvious many great years lay ahead. Thank you for letting an old man ramble.
