To hear adults say their overtime all goes to taxes and that’s why they don’t want to work more is so sad. You should know how to maximize and save on taxes. You should understand that we have a tiered tax system. Unless that overtime is putting you into a new tax bracket what are we talking about? And even then only the last bit over a certain amount is taxed at the higher rate and you should be maximizing 401 k.

FYI contribute to your pretax retirement plans. That lowers your taxable income and grows your net worth by compound interest. In addition employers often match a certain amount of your contributions. Whats the point of letting the government tax every cent? Makes no sense.

Nurses are broke? 🤣 All the nurses I know are doing well and living life to the fullest. The problem isn't pay; it's budgeting. I think nurses, especially traveling nurses, need a pay cut as they are making healthcare worse.

I was an adult entertainer before I went back to school for nursing. I set myself up for success by buying assets and investing. I'm still cheap af to this day and don't plan on having kids. I've had customers back in my day buy me luxury gifts and take me to expensive places all around the world. Now those are memories and my designer items collect dust in my closet. Most people don't know this but you can buy stuff directly from manufactures and save $1000s. I get my hair extensions from Bellami manufacturer blonde for $400 and that's enough hair to do 2 sets a year. Botox and filler can also be purchased from Korea for less than $100. Lulu lemon, tatcha skin care,Dyson home products, and more can be purchased for dollars directly from the manufacturers.

Wow! As a pca i get paid $30 in nyc. It will be hard for me to get paid $35 starting as a nurse since Ive been working for 7 yrs and now get paid $30 😞 I think this job is just underpaid. After taxes you earn same as someone that didn't really go to school.

I quit nursing after 40 years in healthcare. I have nothing left in me to give. I'm completely burned out to the last fiber of my soul. I didn't quit my job, I quit my leadership.

I’m looking for cheaper colleges (community colleges?) with any scholarship; I am 39 years old, Canadian citizen, pursued masters in Biotechnology and Masters in Public health in Canada and have been working in clinical trials for more than 11 years in canada but I am always fascinated about nursing; if you could let me know some community colleges in US that would offer accelerated bachelor nursing be great help!

OMG. Let me explain something to you all. Everyone has this crap at their jobs. It's not just nursing. It's every job.

I just passed my nclex in nyc. No experience and would like to work In the hospital.

I have bought furniture from Amazon and Temu. I am pleased.

I’m a retired nurse and if I was younger I would not choose nursing at all. Over the years the nursing schools lowered their grading standards likewise with state board exams. There are too many narcissistic people and drug addicts who are in the field today. Nursing has lowered the bar to tolerate workplace mobbing and bullying to include patients. Health care facilities use shortages for profits. Our local hospital fired their seasoned nurses to replace them with new grads with lower pay and benefits. Deep cuts were made house keeping too causing an increase in deadly infections The hospital CEO’s are placing profits above human lives, while they laugh all the way to the banks. It’s usually the incompetent nurses who engage in workplace mobbing and bullying. I did manage to get half a shift fired for workplace mobbing and bullying. A CNA’s timelines note made these dismissals possible within 24 hours.

You are so wrong. They have a pay scale in place related to the number of years you have worked. That might be on the east coast but not on the west.

I love how thorough you are, but I feel your night shift nurse could have help set you up for a good shift. I work in the NICU and I do that for my night shift relief.

I’ve seen a lot of new grads get their first nursing job and immediately get a luxury car, expensive apartment,designer goods, the whole nine yards. They don’t even finish paying off their students loans, but already trap themselves into having to work crazy overtime every week simply to pay bills.

My mom was a matron a baby delivery ward for over 30 years- most mommies in my area knew and loved her and she absolutely loved babies. Sh'e's since passed but I wish to follow her footsteps.

In California after med surgery you can challenge lpn. I think it helps a lot to have hands on experience.

Nursing was never glamorous.. there’s nothing glamorous about wiping someone’s ass or seeing someone throw up or emptying rancid urine from a foley bad or canister. Nursing is an art that few are actually called for but many fantasize over bc of social media. Nursing requires a lot of compassion. But just like any job there are pros and cons.

Nursing is a labor of love. If you are going into nursing for money or glamour, you are definitely going into the wrong field.
