Independence Day 2018 | Nakul Surana
Переглядів 2836 років тому
Performed at IndiaLends, Saket on the eve of Independence Day.
[Hindi Poem]

In 2003, India got to the WC Final with a weaker team. In 2007, we had Yuvraj down the order, Irfan as a great swing bowler, Zaheer & Harbhajan as experienced bowlers, & Dhoni as a great hitter & wicket keeper. Greg Chappel was the worst phase of Indian cricket in last 3 decades.

Part of it is true,we have star culture and senior players hold much power, our fans also worship players more than team,Sourav and Sachin were not at their best at that time, and Sachin should have batted middle order for the team, not thinking about his stats Problem in Indian cricket starts at junior level itself, too much communal bias,no fair selection

Greg Chappell may be right in assessing Saurav. Indian batsmen never like to retire whether they perform or not.

India should have been listening to foreign coaches for years, their results, given their population is embarrassing.

Even though australia’s team were the best but if the team environment was good in the indian team there was a strong chance that we could’ve seen a repeat of the 2003 wc final And in finals though aussies were favourite but you never know in finals

At least he’s receptive and taking about his Flaws during his tenure as a coach. A good example of self-reflection but wish he had reflected during his tenure

What Greg is saying is nobody can b bigger than the Team! Unfortunately this has been normalised in our culture..be it sports, politics, movies or any other sphere! It's all about resting on your laurels, connections n seniority taking precedence over merit!

Bcoz he messed up with Ganguly. He lost respect, He lost his contract as coach. None of the cricket nations ever thought of make him a coach. Lost job as commentator as well. Whereas Ganguly played for next 1.5 years, Retired like a King. He was a BCCI president & he has ability and skills to become ICC president as well. Never ever mess with Dada.

Ganguly, Sachin, Sehwag, Harbhajan, Kaif, VVS, Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj .... None of these guys had anything good to say about Greg Chappel.... They all say the same thing... Greg took Indian Cricket backwards..... Looks like Greg Chappel was living in some Paralell Universe.

Chappel may have been a great coach for another team but not India. This is a sense i get from all the many interviews going around. I might not be wrong in saying he was not a coach for a top team but a somewhat low profile team which could be chopped around and was a breeding ground for young talent, not a top team with established players.

Greg Chappel is a man of discipline. He is extreme orthodox, old fashioned and self opinionated. But he is not a bad person..He is currently going through financial crisis , he could overcome if he uses funds from Chappel Foundation but he never does that.. He is not a bad person, but maybe not a good coach with realistic goals

Gregg you were great and strict for your decision.... I am someone who knows you very well, dada was main culprit behind 2007WC loss nobody else, and sachin was always double standard, if dravid could bat on num.5 what's problem with sachin to play on num.4 on slow pitches, actually he was out of form.

Bengal's revenge was world class during the 2005 ODI between India and South Africa at the Eden Gardens when India sans Ganguly was defeated by 10 wickets. The pitch was prepared by the legendary curator Pradip Mukherjee, it is rumoured that soil and grass were secretly imported from Wanderers of South Africa. Before messing with Bengal the spoilers should have known that Bengal is an internationally connected geo political state. More happened after the match, the revenge continued until all the devil's dices who were responsible for dropping Ganguly were totally smashed and binned by the BCCI under the command of Ganguly. During the break Sourav Ganguly appeared on the Giant screen riding on his fabulous Ranji score of 187 against Delhi on the same day. Eden Gardens had assumed a spirit of the Redeemer that day. It was a goosebumps day in the cricketing history of Bengal and the World. Eden Gardens re- established itself as one of the greatest cricket venues of the world. Nothing could have been more dramatic.

Dude is begging for money for a reason. He was a prick that never got along with everyone. He deserves every bit of hardship he is facing.

  • @kunalsen2123

Greg Chappell saw Sreeshanth as a future captain. He saw VRV Singh as a frontline bowler, Sachin as a middle-order ODI batsman, Suresh Raina as a future great and Irrfan Pathan as a batting all-rounder. We reached the ODI final in '03 and won it in '11. Only under Chappell's coaching in between, in '07, we got knocked out in the first round. One of the poorest returns as a coach ever, given the team we had back then.

Everyone in India talks about greg as a coach who didn't do any good to Indian cricket. But nobody talks about the captain who gave him support Dravid. I mean it doesn't matter how much power greg was given as a coach ut would have been impossible even for him to boss around the Indian team without the support of the captain and the board

Gerg Chappel sabotaged team India's prospects and brought up fitness just as a racist , colonial dog whistle excuse to break the morale of Indian cricket team. He was racist , Hindu hater and good for nothing. Dropping Ganguly was his worst sabotage attempt. These people cannot even dare to speak anything against today's India's cricket team.

I don't blame Mr: Greg Chappel at all, infact respect him a lot . This is because his intentions were always genuine . He genuinely desired to make Indian team as better as he can while he took over as the coach. But I doubt the methods he adopted for the same were right. Indian team has always been full of stars. Doubt Chappel had the apt strategies required to bring the best out of the stars in the team. It seem he adopted a 'dictator sort of' approach which back fired a lot . Such a genuine competitor was this man . Easily an ATG cricketer.
