Very logical approach. I love to hear strategies like this. My only concern personally about mixing chemical and kinetic is that having chemical rounds sitting at the bottom of the mag under the pressure of a spring and some heavy kinetic rounds might cause them to crack eventually in the mag. I have always been afraid of a chemical contamination of the launcher and the nightmare that would involve in cleaning.
@ScaredyCatTactical You're right, which is why I use the Grimburg kinetic with %10 cs. they're built for powerful NLWs and have a reinforced case. Very good munitions.
@ Great, I was thinking those might work.
@ScaredyCatTactical they're one of the best, I feel. they have a great impact radius
@@LonestarLTLdefense-d8f Do they break when fired from the S2? I figure they need Gavle-level Joules to be broken on a person.
@ScaredyCatTactical I haven't fired them from the S2, but I will test them on it and get back with you. I received them specifically for the Pistelle. From technical specs they should be effective with a 20 joule launcher.
you could have bought 5 umarex hdp's or hdr.68's ,for same money , just minimum modding , you would have far better defense tools ! lol . the internals remind me of crosman 357's or crosman 1077's lol , these things have bare minimum power and no chance to upgrade them to much more than they put out now . if it doesnt shoot through a tin can , it probably wont help you in a real situation against a perp . ! there are 4 categories that are in our community , NON-LETHAL , LESS THAN LETHAL , LESS LETHAL , LETHAL . BYRNA'S ARE DEF IN THE NON -LETHAL CATEGORY !!! I PREFER THE BOLT AND FIRING PIN SET UP , SO MUCH ROOM TO UPGRADE ! HAVE YOU RESEARCHED THE PISTELLE X-68 YET BRO ? JUST HOPE THE PERP YOU FACE IF IT EVER HAPPENS IS ALSO CARRYING JUST A BYRNA LOL !!!! FOOD FOR THOUGHT BRO !!!! JUST PERSONAL PREFERENCE , HEY WE CAN ALL AGREE TO DIS-AGREE RIGHT ? LOL ! AS FAR FOR LOOKS , I HAVE ALWAYS SAID THE BYRNA IS THE PRETTIEST NON -LETHAL OUT THERE , BUT WHEN YOUR LIFE IS MAYBE ON THE LINE , LOOKS ALONE WONT HELP YOU , YOU NEED DEPENDABLE AND RELIABLE POWER !!! ..... PEOPLE SOMETIMES HAVE THE WRONG IMPRESSION OF ME , I DONT ADVOCATE IN TURNING LESS LETHALS INTO LETHAL PRODUCTS . I AS OF TODAY STILL PREFER TO KEEP IT USING 12 GRAM CO2 . IMAGINE HAVING TO OPEN OR CONCEAL CARRY A LESS LETHAL HOOK TO A REMOTE LINE TO A HPA TANK OR A BACK PACK LOL . PLUS USING HIGHER POWER HPA SYSTEMS CAN MAKE A LESS LETHAL , MORE LETHAL , WHICH WILL GET YOU IN A LOT OF TROUBLE IN A COURT OF LAW IF YOU EVER USE IT IN THE WRONG WAY , AND POSSIBLY IN A JUSTIFIED WAY ALSO . i personally hate the way byrna gives such false confidence to the public , i feel sorry for the many people who have spent real firearm prices to get basically just a over hyped , very over priced paintball gun/toy . to me , shooting someone who is out to harm you or rob you will just make that person more madder and the ending outcome will be worst because they will only become more violent and upset and it will be a lot worst for the victim in the end . i am not saying you need a lethal hundred joules , but closer to 25 joules minimum to be more effective . the gavel , intrubuster or pistelle x-68 are close to the same price as the byrna , but you have something with lil over 35 joules and a way more effective solution to stopping a bad guy if the need to ever arises !!!! in any case i wish you no harm friend , and wish you great success into your less lethal ventures !!!!
Dont matter byrna is not stopping any one.
with quality chemical munitions and proper shot placement, the Byrna le is fully capable of repelling a hostiles forward advance.
@ I’m here because of byrna and I want them to be the Best but when a 60year old walks right through a head shot it has failed its purpose. Even the gavel is not strong enough as there is a video of a buff dude taking multiple shots not at once and still being able to attack got shot right on the quad and didn’t even limp.
@@ktv9247 Thanks for the comment. I never advise using only kinetic munitions on civilian NLWs [Non Lethal Weapons] . Due to the propulsion systems and power output, chemical munitions are the most effective at repelling a forward moving threat.
BUT still nice to have
@Urbanlesslethal Yes Sir, it is. there's a place for every NLW in an arsenal
@ I was repeating what you said I agree with you the slap bottom quick puncture I prefer for stand. I love all of the FSC style guns but for every day carry the SD or LE is better for a deterrent that’s in your waist or on your hip and this simply very easy to deploy like you said as long as the pepper balls and the hard rounds hit, you got a chance to get away and that’s his job
Just ordered one.
Byrna is ASSEMBLED in the USA, not really made. X- 68 made in Finland. European QUALITY AND IS MUCH MORE POWERFUL!!👍
@WestCoastUSA546 yes Sir, it's a personal preference of operational functionality. I have the X68 in my NLW arsenal and it has its place. Thank you for the comment.
I have both the Byrna SD and the Pistelle X-68. Yes, the X-68 is stronger and sounds like a .380 going off, but I regularly get just 8 shots with mine. My Byrna is lighter, more compact, and I have three mags. I installed a copy of Mercy's 12 gram adapter, so I can shoot all three mags if need be. I do carry pepperballs, so the lower velocity works for me. I primarily carry it when in the park with my kid. If someone's dog goes after her, I wouldn't hesitate to take a shot (versus my Glock 23!), and the dog may not respond to the first mag. Also, if there are multiple attackers, having two maore mags gives a little more piece of mind. I do have the X-68 out at home since we keep the firearms loaded but in a safe-- the plan is to use it to buy time while going for the AR. The less-lethal community is like the gun community, there's a lot of fanboys invested in one brand over another, but these are all just layers in the same self-defense nacho dip bowl...
Ima grab one of these salt supply s2s, ita definitely break skin, since the balls are round ita have more impact than penatrate, same as the pistelle x 68, if they were devestors slugs or pointed slugs ita be more deadly especially to head, i wouldn't spend that much on pistelle x if i could get a firearm, i wouldnt spend more than 300 on a less lethal.
I still keep my Byrna close because of the superior trigger pull pierce. Dont be fooled by made in America…more like assembled in America.
The auto industry should tell you all about made in America quality
I like it for the wife but it’s all black I need I need a different color so cops, can’t say it’s a real gun and I like the way the canister says charge all the time
There are other color options. Here's a link to a company I've done business with before: superiordefend.me/teamsa/2/
Is Byrna not on SAFE for a reason? Have you tried 9.9 gram balls? I have not chronographed them lately. Your thoughts?
Yes Sir, the weapon isn't loaded and prepped for video. I have yet to chrono the 9.9 but I only load with the first shot impact round and subsequent chemical rounds. I'll be creating a video on how I load my NLWs
I also own a push to pierce and twist to pierce CO2 cartridge guns. For those guns, I leave the safety off because I consider the piercing to be my “safety“ and one less step to think about.
Defense innovations is coming out with this in November 24 but they keep pushing it back! Google HDX 36JOULES - 40 JOULES HOME DEFENSE PUMP ACTION SHOTGUN (.68 CAL)
Thanks for sharing your opinion. I too prefer the trigger pull to charge method of the Byrna and feel that it's applicable for more situations than something like the PIstelle. Different tools for different jobs. I'm sure you'll hear from Joule junkies who really haven't thought it all through very carefully.
I contacted Byrna and asked them to justify the lower power of their pistol. They said their strong point is the speed of deployment and lower liability on the shooter.
@ I agree. Lower power isn’t a liability if the launcher is used for the right situations. I’ve come to appreciate the legally-wise value of the Byrna platform and the fact that non-lethal attacks are the most common.
Nope dude Walked off a headshot from byrna. P68 is safer no debate twist pull or whatever you want.
@@ktv9247 Lawful firearm owners would never choose the X68 because why risk going to jail or getting a felony over a non-lethal threat. The Byrna is perfect for non-felons. That's why it's so popular.
Thanks for the insight and the holster link!
Great Points! Thanks
If a guy was charging you with a knife and you can only choose one, would it still be that byrna? Please keep it 💯
grimburg is coming out with the Grimburg Kinetics 6 Gram CS + OC Irritant Projectiles 68 Caliber. these are the only chemical munitions currently capable of being utilized in high joule NLWs, which would be perfect for the Pistelle.
What kind of chemical rouunds can this fire without detonating in the barrel?
The only chemical rounds I'd suggest is the Grimburg Kinetics 6 Gram CS + OC Irritant Projectiles 68 Caliber. They're capable of being launched at around 44 joules.
.@@LonestarLTLdefense-d8fDuke or Salt Supply works in mine without popping in the barrel. Shooting at 50j
@THELESSLETHALSPOT i use Duke in my byrna. The grimburg contains %10 cs and a kinetic impact, which are great for higher joule NLWs.stop stopping power of kinetic with repel engagement
Grimburg I heard is coming out with the Solstice
I think the byrna LE is great to carry as a LL option, especially if you carry it along with a firearm if you live in a state where you can do so.
@joesolo7719 yes, that's part of my EOF: escalation of force protocol
Ankle Glock and byrna appendix - if it’s crazy I’m just carrying a full size 92 and my rifle
Strange the one I looked up was.like 13" overall..🤔
Nice picture I wonder where you got it from?
@airgunnerreviews7888 honestly pulled the photo fron the net, which the credit belongs to whomever took it.
For $500 why wouldn't you just buy a gun! Save 200 bucks and buy XD mod 3
@robertgold7652 i own several live firearms and also carry a concealed. But if I can de-escalate the situation without loss of life i will. It's part of my EOF : escalation of force
@LonestarLTLdefense-d8f okay. Put say you use this as a deterrent and the person who you are trying Dieter Caesar is a firearm an escalation of force and returns the message?
I have an xdm but in a country where I can't legally carry a firearm out in public or conceal carry I can keep this with me at home or when I travel in my vehicle
newbie here: what is pelo (pello?) oil and what are the detents for exactly?
Pell oil, common for air rifles and pistols. The detents retain the round in place, like the chamber of a barrel. I suppose a stronger detent would allow the pressure to build up more, giving you higher velocity.
@@AmbuBadger thank you!
DO NOT use pellgun oil on these launchers! . They require silicone lube.
Apologies, I meant Pell oil. it's an oil to help maintain the seals and prevent rust. I also use silicone. Detents hold the projectile in place in the breach and or double feeding.
I've used both with no issues, although silicone is far superior .
Just a note: You can also charge the launcher and fire the initial round by disengaging the safety, then pulling the trigger.
Although you did not rotate the pumpkin for a backside view, I thought that I detected a hole to the left side of the camera frame at approximately the 2:18-2:19 point in the video. Are you able to confirm this? Or perhaps you shot the pumpkin earlier with the reverse side facing the camera. Just curious, and thanks for the informative clip.
@markwygent9364 yes ,my apologies. I'd hadn't caught that during the review.
it was the projectile going through,
Just got caught up on your other videos. Doing a good job 👍🏼
Thanks you for your support
Put lube on the inside o-rings every 25 shots just to be sure it won’t leak. The o-rings are 021 & 011
oh one more think , this marker isnt bad on projectiles like some high performance markers , the internals are arranged in a way i havent seen in others . i shot it at the ground a few times with an empty chamber , and i noticed a wide dispersal of air causing a kind of rippling effect , almost the same pattern a sonic air boom weapon makes ,very strange , so instead of pushing air , it blast it , so weird right ? what you said about pepperballs breaking , i am not a 100% convinced this will happen , out of my 600 shots , 500 plus were 10 to 12 year old paintballs , i had in the garage from my paintball days ! 4000 were jt stingers and the other 1000 were a mix of others . i have only shot the jt's so far and i havent had any break , but mind you , they have slightly hardened in the last decade , but still leave a nice splatter of paint when they hit something ! do this test , shoot your weaker byrna le at the ground co2 only no round from about 3 to 4 ft up , then shoot the pistelle x-68 and see the sonic boom the x-68 does ! i think this is why my paintballs dont burst inside of barrel , it expels a large volume of co2 in a wider range instead of a more compressed smaller pattern that i think is responsible for breaking re=fillables and softer paintballs when you try to shoot them . i need to try it in my umarex hdr.68 @ 38 plus joules to see if it breaks them . paintballs are much funner to shoot , they are cheaper than sending juls , aluminum balls or even the cheaper nylon balls in un-retrievable directions . target shooting is fun and you get to collect your rounds to re-use , but just random shooting at anything you want , plinking , trainer , nothing beats this !!!! my front sight was loose , i put one drop of super glue in the center of dovetail , i hit it with my UVlight to fully dry and cure it , then put my sight back on , it still wasnt enough , so i neatly cut a very small rectangle of extra sticky ,extra headyduty way thicker black duct tape to put underneath , it worked perfectly , you have to apply much pressure to move the sight . once you adjust front and rear sights , it is pretty accurate for an un -rifled , smooth bore barrel liner !!!! if i had a 3D printer , i would make at least a 8 round mag for it , plus one in chamber would give 9 shots , and maybe a special twisting knob butt plate to allow it to still function and take up some space to produce the larger handle look ! . i would also begin to try to create some slug and first strike mags to be able to shoot better bullet like ammo instead of just balls . the chamber area looks like it could be slightly modded to accommodate the shape of first strike type rounds , then add a rifled barrel liner , and i think it would make even a greater longer range ,more accurate ,more powerful shooter !!! i have to admit though , i really like it just the way it is for once too !!! lol
you can drop a ball in gently before inserting the mag , when the intubusters first came out , i first saw it on EAST COAST LESS LETHAL , THEN DK SPENCER got his , and mine came a day later . since oct 10 2024 , i have used 72 co2's and put 600 plus rounds through it , and i havent had any problems , other than the first co2 leaked a little air , i heard that dreaded barely noticeable "hiss" but i shot fast and recorded my every shot with the yellow button x-radar ! i soon discovered the "PLUS ONE " capabilities of this marker also like in real firearms , one can be left in chamber and then a full mag is inserted , now that gives you 7 shots instead of 6 , and considering the number of shots is usually 8 or sometimes 9 , thats awesome ! you blew my mind when you said "PALE OIL" NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH A "PAIL OF OIL" LOL !!! WHY PALE OIL ? I HAVE USED IT IN ENGINES , ONE OF THE MAIN INGREDIENTS IN SEAFORM THEY CLAIM ! ITS GOOD STUFF , I CAN SEE WHERE IT COULD BE USED FOR THAT . i used my break in grease preparation before i shot to make sure all internals would get treated .i just took apart my marker a few nights ago , it was fully lubed in all the right places and orings were still fine after all the 600 shots . in addition to applying the grease to the piercing cap , i give a 1 to 2 second spray of pure silicone oil under co2 before each new shooting day or sessions . enjoy your new marker , i love it myself , i have never seen this concept in any other marker ever !!!
@rick31869 thanks for commenting, I'm looking forward to test firing this launcher.

Do you like it better than your LE ?
@chriscrosby8457 I it has its place in an arsenal, but to your question I prefer the LE for everyday carry . The X-68 will be rotational in situations like home defense or as a primary in a extremely hostile area
@LonestarLTLdefense-d8f Thanks for your reply. I'm on the fence between Gavle and the LE and the Pistelle, lol this will be my first launcher, so I'm just trying to get all the information I can.
@@LonestarLTLdefense-d8f why do you prefer the LE for Edc?
Why in the world would you prefer the LE?
@syberspy9 just a personal preference due to the 15 joule average
I see your new so thumbs up and a sub everyone needs a helping hand now and then
Byrna LE is still imo the beat LL launcher you can get. The only launcher that can fire a round while gassing it. I've had my LE which I made a compact for 2 yrs. My LE now takes 8g because I made it compact. Me sd takes 12g with the added Mercy less lethal 12g chamber. I usually keep aluminum rounds mixed with duke pepper
Thanks for the comment. I am in full agreement with you. The byrna Le quick piercing technology is far superior and most efficient in a defensive situation.
I have a Byrna SD, and while I really like it, I don’t think it hits hard enough. If someone is wearing winter clothes and jacket I don’t think it’ll do much.
If you've ever done business with modern combat sports (mcs) , you've done business with defense innovations, its the same people they're just separating the LL launchers from their paintball products. Great video by the way 👍🏻👍🏻
I tried to give a thumbs up, but got a caller doesn’t have permission notice.
I really appreciate your support! Sorry to hear about the hiccup with the thumbs up-thanks for still being here!

Trash 😂
I just picked one up on amazon Im very impressed with the power of the pistol
POWER ????? LOL !!! get you a umarex hdp.50 and mod it , or trade that in fast and get you a pistelle x-68 , thats real power !!! you could have bought 2 real firearms for what you paid for that toy !
I got one of those in NYC because we're not allowed to have a real firearm. It's fantastic
LOVE THE LOOK BUT I WONT BUY ONE TILL THEY MAKE THE JOULES HIT OVER 30 JOULES MINIMUM
It is a great weapon that is underestimated by people who've never been hit by it, especially in the face.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It's true that some experiences really do change our perspective on things.

Amazon carries it for around $289 for the 7.5 or 11 joule version. most other vendors are the same. Novice defense has the power kit that can mod it to 30 joule or more.
