CRUSADER CARAVAN PICK UP & FIRST IMPRESSIONS! Fully Composite Musketeer Palace & Ford Ranger
Very artistic..... 😂😂 And the stew looked delicious
I saw a landcrusier with a car trailer towing a ranger. I didn't,do your own research on any vehicle.
Hi guys awesome clip, we have a recliner and upgrading to a wildtrax. Everything you mentioned is aligned to my estimate however could you advise the axle loading. I know van different but weights very similar. Thanks in advance and safe travels john
Wow alot of Buthurt commenters on here. Take a pill people and just relax. They're talking like most people do. If you want a fancy review from Just Cars or some 'independent' reviewer, feel free to do so. I like these two and their honesty and I won't be subscribing anytime soon haha
You said you got your wildtrack ranger for $76k new drive away? I was just quoted $84k drive away for the 3.0L V6 wildtrack just a few days ago.
Hi Marcus. That sounds about right. We ordered ours before it was released, they were ~$10k cheaper then than they are now. Best of luck with your purchase!
Is this the V6 model?
You buy what can you afford and what's reliable this days with all this electronics and unproven for now on longer run no one can talk the real situation. But the biggest reason why everyone is buying bigger vehicles is there's no if is must because of the caravans they tow it's a house.Does not matter what vehicle you buy it's the thing as soon as you pass that 3 tone towing weight behind of the vehicle is not safe any more. How in the world what's at the back can be heavier than the vehicle and be no drama.Whole industry needs check out.
Luv my 2024 crusader van Only real let down was the BMPRO system ! I have the redarc 50amp charger installed by crusader. The redarc charger is NOT compatible with the BMPRO system and they don't talk to each other. (Ask BMPRO, they were zero help in trouble shooting, just said not compatible) My redarc was not wired through the BMPRO shunt so the BMPRO system had no idea that the batteries were being charged by the redarc. On the BMPRO display there is a pic of a car that should light up when you plug the car charging in, mine never lit up when car was plugged in. Basically the shunt measured everything going out but only registered the solar coming in, nothing from the car, in essence the BMPRO battery SOC was never correct.
How good was the last bit Typical couple 😂
Be better if you spoke
Great video, thanks. It looks like your Ranger also has TPMS built in. You need an adjustable tow hitch like the Hayman Reece, I also tow with the WDH and would not be without it. The WDH keeps me away from air bags and such. I love the Ranger but could never tolerate Ford again as long as I live, plus in Qld I would pay $500 or so in extra rego for two additional cyclinders. I have a newish DMax and love it, but then again I'm only towing a little over 2010 kg ATM.
If I were in the market for a new tow vehicle for something around the 2500 kg mark, I'd pick the Defender 110 or the Ineos Grenadier. Mainly because the distance from the rear wheels to the tow ball is short with both these vehicles. The shorter that distance, the less chance of the tail wagging the dog, so to speak. The dual cab utes have very long rear overhangs, so from a stability point of view, I've got my reservations. I'm sure they tow just fine if the weight distribution is set up correctly, but the physics are still there with the tow hitch distance from the rear axle. This is where short is much better than long. 😀
Looked at the wildtrak and liked it. But I've got the platinum ordered so I can have the V6.
Wildtrak comes in V6 as well, maybe harder to get....
@@peaceful671 novated leases will not do v6 wildtrak. Payload is over 1Tone. Had one ordered until July 1st. Thanks to ATO
@@roydonbrown1823 cheers 👍👍👍
Great video, there was once a saying when you were buying a new car and that saying was," You never buy a car built on a Friday or Monday "
But it’s a ford no thanks
Just wondering where you purchased your tow tongue the the right way up for your caravan ?
Great Vid!
Great Vid!
The Everest is a great SUV but for towing a ute with leafsprings is a better choice.
Y62 560Nm vs 600Nm Nextgen ranger, current model wildtrak when reversing you can steer the trailer using the knob.
But in the patrol you have no DPF.
I agree with you 100% nextgen ranger is amazing I have 2 wildtracks I pull 3.5t van without sweat also a lot of offroad driving, perfect driver assistance technology incomparable to others first 17 months young (30k km) second only a few weeks (1k km) so far both without problems. great cars comfortable powerful (torque 600Nm) and easy to drive that's why it's the most sold car in Au at the moment.😀
Hey crew, love the video. Do you guys have any plans for upgrades etc? Just looking into upgrading mine and interested on your thoughts. Thanks!
@@HarlsMcCharls hey there! Thank you. No immediate plans. If we were travelling full time we might consider a suspension upgrade and transmission cooler, but it’s suiting our needs quite well at the moment. What upgrades are you considering?
Thank you for the reviews, im at the moment looking into buying a wildtrak, looking at cost did u have any extras or is it just the wildtrack drive away. Every quote i have got is 90k plus atm. Thanks for your content
Hi mate, i was quoted 83k back in March. Walked away with a few extras and totaled at 89k. Cheers
@@garethw27 thanks for watching! We put a deposit down before the car was released and, at that time, it was about $10k cheaper than they retail for now. The $76k included premium pack (matrix LEDs & sound system upgrade), the tub divider, and wildtrak mats. I think now the premium pack is standard on the Wildtrak? I’d say the price you’re being offered is a little on the high side but not too far off! Hope you find what you’re looking for at a good price. Best of luck with the search!
Hi mate great video just wondering where did you purchase your tow ball tongue I need to turn it upside down as well thanks. Joe.
@@HarlsMcCharls thanks mate I'll have to look around more by the looks of it cheers
@AnotherAusAdventure thankyou for your insight. They seem to be a rock solid vehicle atm. I'll keep looking around for a deal. Keep up with videos. they're great.
great video, focusing some important things to consider that many overlook when purchasing a tow vehicle,,,, i never realised that american ute (ohh sorry i mean truck) owners were so sensitive, ill have to watch my language around them when travelling.😂😂😂
@@mattrowe9629 thanks for watching. Glad you saw the humour and enjoyed the video!
Looks like you did your homework and made a good informed choice. Everyone has different opinions and wants. Straight physics says you really don't want the tail wagging the dog! We have a 3.5t van which we towed with a 200 series Landcruiser. We recently changed to a HD American truck and the difference is night & day. The tow vehicle now has the upper hand and controls the van not the other way around when we were towing with the Cruiser. Yes they will tow your big van but when things go bad and you have to take sudden evasive action you suddenly realise that it the heavier trailer that is in control not the tow vehicle. Keep up the great videos 👍.
@@jorobson1 couldn’t agree more. Thanks for watching!
Buy a lighter van??
@@stevespatrol why! Just select the correct tow vehicle.
@@jorobson1 but you said you had to sell the 200 to buy the USA Ute. This fad of having heavy vans is laughable
@@stevespatrolWe all have choices and we all have different opinions. We enjoy our van and like the comfort it provides. The same with our tow vehicle. It was a choice not a need to change out vehicles. We are very happy with our combination! If we ever decided to go heavier we have plenty of contingency (12500gcm).
You can get a new Ti Patrol for $8k more than you paid for the Ranger. I’m looking at both at the moment but the tech in the Patrol is a big downer. The V8 is a big plus though! Our van is going to be close to 3.5T which limits our options further.
@@stevowyeth I think the patrol is getting a revamp soon so it might be worth the wait if you’re wanting the best of both worlds. Definitely not an easy task to try and stay in budget when accommodating a 3.5T van. Best of luck with the search!
@@AnotherAusAdventure Yeah, it was announced today but won't be coming to us until late 2026 at best.
Do the Patrols still reduce the carry capacity with higher ball weights.
How many klms have You towed with the Ranger so far, Experience will teach You that tech does not make a car safe reliable or a good towing option
Hi guys, great video. It's was very informative, I particularly enjoyed your part One video was really well done. I have a Ford Ranger v6 XLT towing 3.4 ton caravan, the Ranger pulls the caravan no trouble at all. I have also had a Lovells full suspension upgrade done to the car because of the weight of the caravan, which made a big difference really helps with towing as well. They are great cars. Keep up the good videos. Cheers Peter
Hey Peter. Glad to have another happy ford owner in the comments. Thanks for the kind words and for watching. Have a great week!
Maybe you should have ditched the ford bar and got a H R tow bar and hitch
Std practice is getting weighed with everything and everyone on board as if your going away to get a true idea of what weights are
Knew someone who had same ranger and he said it towed like a dog.and high fuel consumption. Their van was a triple bunk van Got rid of the danger and got a " bow tie" vehicle and towing the van he dosent even know there is a van behind
Chev are in a slightly different price banding!
Know someone who has the same Ranger and he said it tows beautifully 🤷🏻♂️
Great video, I’m also team ranger and couldn’t be happier with mine :) quick question, can you share more about where you got the rise tow hitch? I’ve called ford but the only seem to have standard one. Did you buy it somewhere else? Keep doing this great videos
Hey there 👋🏼 thanks for watching! We got it from our Caravan Dealer, and there’s no identifying markings on it so not even sure of the brand sorry!
Hi there great video just wondering which caravan dealer did you purchase your tow hitch tongue ?
Great videos… thanks. I wish our van was so light and not 3.3T (story for another time) but even though, our V6 WT tows it like a breeze. I did notice in the downhill towing demonstration on your current video (may be footage from previous video), you still had your lane keeping assistance turned on. Some don’t realize that although it defaults to on, it can be simply turned off which is essential for towing stability and is advised in a recent ford safety update booklet. Thanks again for this series.
Hi Graeme, thanks for the kind words. We filmed this before the safety recall and updated booklet was issued. But will definitely be playing it safe and turn off from now on. Have a great day!
Good stuff guys Was the tow tounge the only change for towing? Is the suspension completely stock? I have a v6 wildtrak and its awesome but I dont have a van. Its more for family holidays / 4wding plus my daily. We might start looking at vans or camp trailers soon tho, not sure if we need to upgrade the suspension at all.
Hey Ken, thanks for watching! We only changed the tow tongue to suit the height of our van. The original tongue made the van sit ‘nose’ down. Stock suspension! You notice the car take the load when we hitch but definitely no sagging. We’re super impressed with it. Although, time will tell how this goes, it’s possible it will sag over-time. But with only being weekend adventurers for now, I’d say that’d take quite some time to develop.
Thanks for the review guys, we are looking to buy a wildtrak v6 aswell 🍻
Thanks for watching. You won’t be disappointed with your purchase!
Infotainment indeed. Great video!
Thanks for watching again Jay!
A nice comfy powerfull vehicle them but I'm not sold on that weak front suspension system that new 4x4s have , it's a front solid diff 4 me more reliable and rugged and easier to fix if it breaks out bush , but yer everyone to their own , my theory is if you carnt afford a new landcuiser buy an old second hand one that comes with the goodies and just keep the maintenance and services up you carnt go wrong 😊 always remember newer cheap is not as good as older second hand tuff propper proven 4x4s 😉 good luck and safe journeys in it 👍
What vehicles are made with the sold front axle these days?
@@Sabumnim666 70 series pretty much. No comfort at all in those
@@Ttnorth11 Yep forgot the 70 series. Have had a look at the new drive train on the 2.8 series
@@Sabumnim666Ineos Grenadier
It's not cheap, the ranger is the best in its class...cheers...
Thank for the honest review
I have 170k on my 2017 Everest which is just a Ranger SUV and it's been all over Australia. Towing and not towing. No doubt these new models will be just as good if not better :)
Wow. Saved this.
Thanks I am looking for a new tow rig appreciate your vid
You don’t know what you don’t know……I have a friend that has an American truck and his wife has the new V6 wild track ranger ,I asked him how they compare, his comment Was I forget when I get in the Ranger and I think what’s wrong with this thing, you can’t compare the two he said.
A bit late watching this. I am interested in knowing what the max rear axle load is for the ranger and what rear axle load was measured? Do you have those figures? Good video thanks for making it. Every caravanner should get weighed but I bet a large percentage have no idea.
Hi Michael, thanks for watching. Check out the pinned comment. Our axle loads are in there.
@@AnotherAusAdventure Thanks I did not spot that. The Ranger has a substantial rear axle max load. Better than many others.
One more thing to take into consideration is the axle limits front and rear of your tow vehicle as you can be under your max GVM with the caravan on but because of the load on the tow ball you can exceed the rear axle limits
Hey guys. What happened to the next video? I thought it was going to be a week after this one but no new videos for a couple of months. I really enjoy your channel and looking forward to more. 😊
Hey Ken! Thanks for watching, and for the kind words. I think we underestimated toddlerhood and work commitments when we released this video 🤣 i can reassure you it’s on the way, will be out within the fortnight!
@@AnotherAusAdventure ah yes. I know that situation well. Going through it for the fifth time! It gets easier - eventually 🤣 Keep up the great work. Love the channel. Great content. You guys are naturals.
i wouldnt swap my y62 for one of these
Wonderful thanks so much for that. Its certainly true that you don't know what you don't know.
A great looking caravan. I would have gone for 2shock absorbers on each side simply for the size and possibility the weight you are carrying with your water tanks and grey water tank but that’s just my opinion. I’ve seen many caravans your size with 2 shocks on each side
Stop joking around and having fun guys… you’ll upset people. Why do people take things so personally? I could just imagine how worked up they get in ‘real life’ if this kind of video gets them all butt hurt and upset. What delights they must be? More important things in life to be cranky about… cost of living, grocery prices, ridiculous mandates over a flu, taxes on their big cars, corrupt government etc. Nah, ya insulted my car and made a joke about penis size. Crazy. Just keep doing you guys… much love, peace!
this is very informative, thank you so much guys!
