Car parts quality - does Made in China mean bad? Dayco vs SKF tensioner
A short quality check of the auxiliary best tensioner for my Volvo XC70. One is made by SKF, the other is Dayco (but inside the box it's INA). The part I'm talking about has the number: 30637070.

Thanks for this video! I'm looking to get a P2 XC70 with D5 and automatic gearbox. By now most have 350k or more kms driven, so any info from someone still driving these is gold :) Really looking forward to the expensive part list video that you mentioned in the comments :D
I had a 2001 and upgraded to a 2010 which I still drive. Loved the styling and silver colour of the 2001. Intend on keeping my Volvo until it dies!
i loved the video about the volvo, i have a 2002 v70 with 360k kilometers.
Audio expert here: Grab Rode Wireless Micro and aim for -14 LUFS for audio. (You can check the levels with the Youlean Loudness Meter) That will significantly improve your audio. Good luck with UA-cam, and nice video. 😉
Tell us more about the trip to China!
Will work on a montage over the Xmas break and hopefully publish by the end of the year :)
well mine doesn't look at all this good but it has over 525k km on odometer
Hej super maszyna ! Prośba o info co to za rozmiar i model felgi ?
Dziękuję! Volvo Xenia, 16" (86984994)
@@Living_in_the_rose oryginalne malowanie ?
@@RobcioPG88 nie, felgi odnowione i pomalowane, w oryginale były srebrne :-)
At 13:26, SHOW how you flip the latch to remove the bottom seat in the back of this XC70. I know they can be removed, but not know how to flip the switch to remove!! help!!
You lift the seat by pulling this little bit of material that stands out. Then there are red plastic clamps - these need to be taken out with a tiny bit of force. Once out, simply lift the seat. Let me know if it worked, if not I can record a separate clip just about that
@@Living_in_the_rose Thank you for the info! I have been focusing on the red clips, and have used silicon lubricant to help. Maybe I need stronger hands! Will try this in the next couple of days. My gasoline version 2004 XC70 lives in Colorado. Plenty of back roads here for exploring!! Thanks!!
Hi LivingRose, Did they make a 2004 XC70 without the front headlight wipers? My 2004 Gasoline version has the headlight wipers. I have some great information for you. I had learned about the strength of Boron Steel that Volvo now uses in many of its vehicles. I wrote to Volvo Customer Service and asked how much Boron Steel is in the 2004 XC70. They wrote back (!!) and said that Volvo started using Boron Steel in the 1990's in their cars. The '04 XC70 has Boron Steel in all of the pillars that hold up the roof of the car. Boron Steel is FOUR TIMES stronger than regular steel. I have read in other UA-cam comments that one guy was going highway speeds in his '04 XC70, blew a tire, rolled 5 times and he walked away. THAT is why I love my '04 XC70. Your XC70 is lovely. Enjoy!!
Thanks for the info, I was not aware of that. That is just another reason to go for these cars - safety!
And yes, there's plenty without front headlight wipers. I believe it is related to the light option (halogen or xenon).
@@Living_in_the_rose I am so much of a Volvo fanatic that I read about them alot. AND Customer Service (from the main Volvo website) WILL answer your questions! Volvo for LIFE!
How much was the new suspension?
Two Nivomats were 900$, springs 120$ and some bushings another 100$. Labour is easy, same as with standard suspension. The Nivomats differ in price depending on the country, I got them in Poland from an unauthorized Volvo dealer. Nivomat is made by Sachs, I believe they still produce them in Germany.
Where have you recorded that?
Liguria, Italy
Great video! Will you post any videos from your roadtrip? Would be very nice to see :)
Thanks! I tried to put something together, but my video editing skills suck and I'm not happy with the result...Will try to work on it tho and publish before end of the year :)
@@Living_in_the_rose Video looks fine!!
Cool video and nice shirt man!
Danke!
great vid, thanks for sharing
O chłopie jaki kozacki samochód
Awesome video dude! I was today years old to discover that you can remove the seats in the back so easily. Have Volvo’s sinds decades and our xc70 for almost 20… keep up the good work and the vids! Got any footage from the China journey?
Thanks for the kind comment! Lovely to hear that the video helped 'discover' something ;) Yes, I have tons of footage from the China trip, just lacking a bit of editing skill, so it takes time to create a reasonable clip and upload. But it's coming!
Śliczne volvo
Here by chance after shamelessly browsing for xc70 videos to give a new boost to my love for this car. Wonderful vehicle you have there and the enthusiasm for maintaining and driving it is very inspiring. I am surprised you did not mention any maintenance of the awd transmission. All the best for the future ride to Africa!
Thank you so much for the kind comment, really appreciate it! Yes, the AWD... I should've mentioned it, thank you for pointing it out. I had to replace the angle gear sleeve at around 330k kilometres - it failed in Kyrgyzstan when we got stuck in sand... I'm thinking of doing a 'top 5 expensive repairs on Volvo XC70' kinda clip and I'll then certainly add the AWD issue :-)
Cool Video! Watching this and missing my P2 V70 D5. I traded it in for a P3 XC70. I love my XC but my old V70 was a great machine.!
Hi @tomUpward9012, once you have fallen in love with a Volvo . . any Volvo, that love stays warm in your heart throughout your lifetime. I am a 'new' convert. Purchased a gasoline version of the 2004 XC70 like the one in the video. I will be exploring the backroads of Colorado in my "PJ" (short for Puddle Jumper!). Volvo for LIFE!!
Dzięki i pozdrawiam !
Hej! Super, fajny przebieg - sporo życia przed nim :) Panel na szybę i pomarańczowe haczyki mam od Custom XCcessories (na instagramie albo customxc.eu/). Dzięki za komentarz i pozdrawiam!
Dzięki! Z niecierpliwością czekam na kolejne filmiki. A przebieg rośnie i silnik się dociera 😂
@@Living_in_the_rose hey, te haczyki to "FIXPLUS Strap Anchor 2 pieces"?
