Right wing /fuselage fairing was removed due to problem on previous flight. During this routine, a buffett was felt that was not normal. Suspect due to missing fairing
yikes... not that the engine quit...but at cooler temps its easy to shock cool the engine!
Engine quits... "Lets try that again!" Chuckle.
My dad was a P-51 pilot during WW-II. He once told me that he lost contact with his formation at 20 thousand feet over enemy territory and his engine quit. He couldn’t get it going again until he got down to 10 thousand feet.
So why did the motor stop?

How do you spin the 8 solo. Do you have weight in the back?
It's very informative to see the rear control surfaces during this maneuver - they way he maintains up elevator and rudder through the spin.
The RV-8 has been my dream plane for a few years now. Your avionics package is also pretty perfect. Can I ask what your total cost was? If I had to guess, I'd say like over $150k? And how many hours to build?
Probably more like $125k. I have about $70 into mine with full dunno glass touch, AP, but a rebuilt O360 and a FP carbon fiber prop.

Within the Vans builders community, they often discuss weather to prime or not the internal structure, and if you do prime, should you Alodine, self etching, epoxy, rattle can..ect...they are known as “the Primer Wars” whenever the subject comes up..

@@addictedtopussy69 I have been scuffing, and using a two part epoxy primer. I played with some aluma-prep and alodine.. it’s a lot of extra work though..
@@thomasaltruda its the right way to do things. Thats how Boeing, airbus, and pretty much all the major airplane builders do it. They all prime with zinc chromate. Factory quick build kits from Vans are Primed with rust protection. By way, what primer and paint system have you decided to go with?
