Very sweet. It's so satisfying to find and purchase an illusive and much sought after piece of gear. I kick myself for selling my 7 line Dyna-Sonic, even though it was the beaver tail lug version. You have a real gem there!

My good friend, you need to delete the misinformation the the shell is “Jasper” if the grommet is one panel over from the strainer” and “Keller” if the grommet is they adjacent panel to the strainer. This is simply Not so in all cases. I have a 65 wood power tone that is a 6 ply Jasper w/3 re- rings (with the center re-ring butt joined) and the grommet is in the adjacent panel to the right of the strainer. Long time collector/player the 1st 34 years- turned professional cabinetmaker and still collector/player for the following 30 years - Jim

Zero misinformation here... if you listen to what I said... “you have a 3 ply Jasper shell” By the time Keller became involved… which is when your drum is from… the drill position changed. My friend Dan Davis is who drilled the drums in Covington . I’d love to see pictures of your drum including the tag. If you wouldn’t mind emailing to amodeo_anthony@yahoo.com

@@Rogersdrumvideos One question I have is, the early frames included a cord wrapped around the snare-wire tension threads, through the frame and clamped onto the rim. What problem was this trying to solve and why was it omitted in later versions? My searches have turned up nothing substantive. Thanks in advance for any insight.

@@alistairdennett5913 The elastics were in hopes of stopping the frame from flopping too freely when the frame was disengaged and popping back up to slap the bottom head... it worked but fell victim to corner cutting in later models

My LUDWIG SUPERSENSITIVE 77 MODEL...to me is the best sounding loudest sounding greatest snare drum , just my opinion , this club we played about 1 00 am the singer would get a little tired...I would pop a rim shot and I swear it would sound like a gun went off ...still have it too...I always thought LUDEIG made the best SNARE DRUMS PERIOD

I wonder if you could identify it as Jim's snare by comparing the sparkle wrap, as each wrap is like a fingerprint. You would need some good quality photos of the drum to compare the wrap. It would obviously be a lot easier if it was a pearl wrap. There have been some Gene Krupa Slingerlands identified using just the wrap. It's probably the only way that you could positively identify it without the serial number, or maybe if there was some other distinctive marks, like scratches. I have an Avedis Flat ride, and I have it on good authority that it belonged to Steve Gadd, but without any provenance, it's just a story.

I would love to hear this snare Anthony. Are sound samples something you are willing to do? As would I love to hear the snare collection of your mate. Some of those odd sizes look absolutely insane. Really interesting drums. Does he play them or are they purely for display? I didn't know stuff like this actually existed. By the way, we've engaged many times before. We used to have a very good rapport on the Drummerworld Forum several years ago. I was Pocket Full Of Gold (from Australia), for reference. I've always remembered our interactions fondly and was so glad when I found your YT channel. Great to see you still spreading the knowledge of your passion brother, especially in such a specialized niche.

I never cared much for the Bread-and-Butter lug (which looked similar to Slingerland's lugs to me). I feel that the Beavertail lugs were the "quintessential" Rogers Lugs and probably the best-looking lugs ever put on a drum by any drum manufacturer.
