I lived at Alvarado and 3rd for seven years and walked my dog every morning and every night, walked to the subway, walked to the store and to all my favorite restaurants, MacArthur Park, La Fayette Park and Echo Park without incident. Yes, it's an oppressed area, but if you're smart enough to avoid rat infested alleys, there are some really beautiful aspects to behold. A real film maker would recognize that.
