I grew up in arincliffe and I’m still in arincliffe

I grew up in Arncliffe/Banksia in the 50s, it was more like a village atmosphere then. Very tidy with a great range of essential shops etc. Now it looks quite soulless. My memories of Arncliffe are somewhat shattered due to the way I find it now. My family left the Arncliffe, Banksia, Rockdale in the late 60s for the south coast. On returning one day in the 80s I could not get over the decline I witnessed. If you read about the history of the area and how they were setup, you realise it is now a dream lost.

At 4:30pm, Sunday 28th November, 2021, I was an hour and a half away from finishing my very first shift at Sydney's Luna Park. At that very time, I was learning how to greet guests, take temperatures (COVID was still an issue at that time), request proof of vaccination certificates and use a mobile wristband scanner. Guest's wristbands have a code which is scanned at each ride, allowing the guest to go on the ride.

Hurstville Westfield looks so dirty and abandoned. what happened there?

I once lived in Mascot as a foreign student, from early 2018 to the last day of 2019. Wonderful memory here. I also happened to lived in Mascot Tower and I could never forget the night it cracked and me and my girlfriend were banned from coming back home while all our books, notes, and electronic devices were remaining in the apartment. Luckily we have really friendly professors and classmates in the university and helped us going through maybe the toughest time of life. And even more luckily this experience strengthened our relationship and we are still together.

That building around the corner on the left was a Coles I think. Across the road was pharmacist I worked at as delivery boy. So many shops changed since 1987! The Cashies was where I bought a compressor that still works (2022) in 1998! The townhall I have many memories of - the best being playing a gig with my band with a broken wrist in 89. Wow. I haven't lived there since then, but man it was a good place to grow up. I also lived down on Monahan Ave in Banksia further along here from 87-89.
