From Scripture to Art: A Creative Journey Through the Bible is a workbook I developed out of the need I had for creating art from Bible scriptures. I spent a lot of time looking up Bible scriptures that would inspire visual ideas that I could sketch out, and further develop into a final art piece. But it wasn’t easy for me as I found no organized way that kept me focused on this scripture-to-ar...

Using Oil Paints For The First Time! Holbein Water Soluble. Yikes!!

Arteza Acrylic Gouache Review and Comparison

I was really hoping this Arteza Acrylic Gouache would be just as good as their regular gouache. I realize their regular gouache is student-grade, but honestly their Acrylic gouache is more like the very cheap Acrylic paint. Looks like their Acrylic Gouache is just as bad as their watercolors. Which is weird, since their regular Gouache is pretty decent. Guess they need to find a better chinese supplier, lol. Which will mean a price increase for these. Not sure they will still be as affordable then. Tho for what they offer now, these are definitely overpriced.

    Thanks for the video. The Arteza has a decent rating on Amazon (4.3 out of 150, 102 being 5 star) and they were running several promotions for a total of 35% off, so I got the 12 count for under $12 dollars. I bought it basically to put a waterproof tone on a couple sketchbooks (Strathmore 400, 6x8 184lb mixed media) with various colors, without resorting to acrylic or casein, because, like others I had read their regular gouache was pretty good and had high hopes for the acrylic gouache. So hopefully for that purpose (toning paper) it will work out. And after watching your video, it won't be my future choice for dedicated gouache painting, so when I go to buy my next set of Gouache, for actual painting, I'll go with the Turner.

    I've read the reviews on Amazon saying its more like glorified low grade acrylic paint with not a lot of pigment to them basically. Was hoping this was good because Im trying to find some paints to do faceup on my doll that keeps the pigment colorful with less brush strokes needed.

      Masters Touch Acrylic Gouache? I have not tried that, but I have tried their regular Gouache and it is comparable to Arteza Gouache (which is decent), but I found that Arteza is like a bit better than Masters Touch (regular gouache). It's good to know that their acrylic gouache is better than Arteza's.

    Thank you for your review. I got these with a great discount. I don't love them but I will use them. The odd names along with the lack of pigment information makes it harder to mix so I am glad I got the larger set. They are very transparent and the white is terrible so I ordered a large PW6 to supplement. I plan on two layers with white mixed in at least the first for opacity. I also have some Japanese gouache to compare it to and there is really no comparison. Pros are that it does handle like gouache and the black is pretty good. I give them a 3 out of 5.

    • @roxiecolors
      @roxiecolors Рік тому

      They have no pigment, right! I didn’t show in the video but when I washed off the red paint, and every color I used, my dirty water never turned any color! Not even red! I give them a 0 out of 5! 😅

    • @roxiecolors
      @roxiecolors 2 роки тому

      You only know the difference when you’re working with them the cheaper ones are a bit thinner and a little bit grittier and the expensive gouache is smoother and just better to work with in my opinion.

    • @roxiecolors
      @roxiecolors Рік тому

      In my opinion you can see the difference between the two student grade paints and the Holbein, but it’s not a huge difference. Other than that Holbein has good lightfastness and the others will fade if hung on the wall.

    I found my set of Master's Touch to be quite watery and had a rough and gritty texture when dry. But the texture thing is also true of their watercolor. I ended up putting the paint in a palette because even stirring it in the tube didnt help the mixture. It still poured out runny. I ordered the Arteza gouache to see if it would be any better so this review was interesting. Thanks!
