How the heck does this only have 607 views. That was freaking amazing and the color grade 🔥
Thank you so much that truly means a lot! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching, my friend. Cheers!
Love this video Ryan! great tips and thanks for the film vibes shoutout!
Thanks Alex, I truly appreciate that a lot and I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Absolutely, Film Vibes is amazing and has truly made the process so much easier!
Any trick with using action camera for movie?
Hey, great question! I truthfully don't get to use my action camera often. However, when I have used it for a cinematic sequence, I'll usually stick with linear mode on my GoPro. Just doing this really makes a huge difference. Also, if you have it available to you, I would recommend filming in 10 bit color and using a flat color profile because this will give you flexibility in post production. I also almost always film in 24FPS. Beyond that, just following cinematic principles like shooting on the shadow side, smooth and motivated camera movement, and composition and framing can go a really long way. I would love to create a cinematic sequence with an action camera at some point if that would help. That would be a lot of fun! I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching the video my friend, it truly means a lot. Cheers!
Great video! thanks a lot for all the info! now what happens if I want to use the CPL but I do not need the ND is it possible to have the ND at 0 and just use the CPL ?
Absolutely, thank you so much! This ND filter ranges from 3 stops to 7 stops and doesn't have the ability to go below 3 stops. However, I have this filter on my camera about 98% of the time and rarely need to take it of on all indoor and outdoor shoots. I should mention that my camera's native ISO is 800 and 12,800. So there's some flexibility there. But When I use it on my other camera, where the native ISO is 800 and 3200, I will still usually be able to leave it on most of the time. I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching the video and for reaching out, it truly means a lot. Cheers!
I know this was an ad but the info contained was really solid. Your preproduction workflow is sexy ngl
Thank you I really appreciate that a lot! I love the pre-production process. It’s super fun to see the vision come together in that first phase. Thank you for watching the video my friend, it truly means a lot. Cheers!

Cool video, well done ! When traveling i'd like to use outdoors a portable lightweight RGB light to light me up at distances of 5-7m. How many Watts and Lumens would it have to be in your opinion to work well both at cloudy day and at night at this distance ?
Thank you so much! Absolutely, that’s a really great question! It’s pretty tough to compete with natural light during the day, so I will usually shape the natural light using modifiers. But with that said, on a cloudy day you may be able to use something like a 300w or a 500w light. But it would really depend on the time of day, and what you’re filming. Although, I have been able to use a 60w RGB light at blue hour. I had the light fairly close to me, and I just used it to warm up my face a bit to emulate sunset, but it worked out really great. If you’re shooting at night, a 60w or 100w should do really well depending on what you’re filming. In terms of portable RGB lights, so far, I’m really loving the Zhiyun X60 and Cinepeer CF100. But of course, this is just my opinion! I have a few videos where I’m using these type of lights. I’ve left a link below to one if you’re interested in seeing how I use them. ua-cam.com/video/b34BXYPrrY0/v-deo.htmlsi=S8f9DkqSEAewqWgf I hope this helps! Thank you for watching the video my friend, it truly means a lot. Cheers!
At idea phase, concepting phase using lavarier microphone with mobile phone and recorder is super handy. I just press record when I take walks or have state of vision. After that, you can import sound track into video editing, and start slapping images over voice line per/idea.
That’s awesome, such a great way to capture ideas a get inspired! Thank you for watching the video my friend, it truly means a lot. Cheers!

Anyone who is a Dylan fan can not be all bad, I view a lot of how to videos these day's and most of them I click out of them right away. But you have a knack for pulling someone in and holding them. Your life style sneaks in with your shop chickens and even a duck. Just saying very nice and makes the viewer feel like they know you. I have seen others share many of the very same ideas but you did make them interesting and I did stick around to the end. Richard Dollar
Hey Richard, wow thank you so much! That truly means the world to me! Thank you so much!
In the 90's I used to make home videos with my friends and we didn't have access to really good gear. So I used an old camcorder with a heavy metal 80's tripod. To get steady gimble like shots I just folded up the heavy tripod and filmed with all that weight hanging from the camera. That extra weight made the footage super smooth when walking around. It was amazing in an era without stabilization. I still use this trick in a pinch.
That’s amazing! There are so many fun ways to get great footage with just a tripod. Love it! Thank you for watching the video and for reaching out, it truly means a lot. Cheers, my friend!
Great little collection of tips’n tricks :) an even cheaper option for those using just a phone as a camera (like myself, on a budget until I can afford an adult camera) is the pieces of cardboard I made a video about, cardboard is incredibly versatile combined with some tape and glue - working on a follow-up now making a magnetic ceiling mount and a wall mount bracket system for filming at different spots in the workshop - but that towel trick gave me an idea: I’ve seen it used on a table top for «slider»-shots holding the camera, but putting it on the floor using a tripod opens up some options. I’m thinking using an electric drill to wind up some rope/string that can be attached to the towel to pull the towel, freeing up the leg. Would only work for «silent» shots though, but could still be useful, gonna have to try it out to see what can be done, thanks for the idea :D
That’s awesome, such great ideas! I’m glad the video could help. Thank you so much for watching my friend. Cheers!

I always watch your videos. I’m a student and I appreciate all you do and I learn a lot. How did you create the hologram ?
That's amazing! Thank you so much, I'm so glad the videos could help! The hologram was super fun to make but it was definitely a process. First I had to light it so that it looked like the hologram was right in front of me, and I also had to make sure I turned on my light at the same time my hologram appeared on screen. I have a video on how I lit it, I'll leave a link here if you're interested. That was a lot of how I was able to make it work. But in addition to that, I just took a screen recording on my phone as I was scrolling through my channel, I also had to time the scrolling on my phone with what I was doing in the scene, then added the screen recording to the scene in the edit. Then I angled it to match the frame I shot, so that the hologram appeared to be right in front of me. After that I used Lumetri Color in Premiere Pro to give it blueish color and match the lighting I had when shooting the scene. Then I added a mask around it and feathered it out, and lowered the opacity. After that I added a couple of VHS and tube TV overlays to give it more of that holographic look, and completed the same process as I did for the screen recording, in terms of masking and coloring. I also did the same process for when I'm tapping on the holographic screen. And that's it! There was a lot that went into it. I'd love to make a video about how I did it someday, if that would help. But this is the gist of how I did it. I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching my videos on my channel and for reaching out, it truly means a lot. Cheers, friend! Here is how I lit the scene: ua-cam.com/video/dU4FqLC7QfA/v-deo.html
I’ve never had a variable ND with polarization. Can you turn that completely off? Like have zero polarization?
Hey, great question! I truthfully don't know if the effect can technically be removed completely without removing the filter. Not all polarizers are created equal, but with this circular polarizer, I personally have had the ability to utilize the effect a lot, but also remove it's effect on the image when needed. I have this filter on my 24-70mm most of the time and I haven't had any issues with it so far, and love the images that I'm getting with it. I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching the video my friend, cheers!
Found you while looking for something pretty specific. Great value on your channel. #salute #newsub
Awesome! I'm so glad the videos could help. Thank you so much for watching and subscribing, it truly means a lot. Cheer, my friend!
Great video, typically I would just throw the light without thinking of what it’s doing to my shot in my story. I wanna get better at lighting a scene to have motivated lighting To help tell the story.
That's awesome, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Absolutely, lighting can have a big impact the story for sure. For me, it's super fun to work out the lighting and try a combination of techniques to achieve the look I'm going for. I just really love the problem solving aspect of the process. 🎥💡 Keep making videos and trying new techniques and you'll start to see some really cool results before you know it! Thank you so much for watching the video and for reaching out, it truly means a lot. Cheers, my friend!

What is the stand called that you use to do directly overhead shots? Do the clamps come with it? I need to take pictures from directly overhead for weeks at a time, so I would love to know what to search for. Thank you for your help, this is a great video.
Absolutely I’m happy to help! I used a C-stand by Neewer for the overhead shot. I love these and have been using them for about 6 or 7 years now. These c-stands do come with the grips heads, I think mine came with a couple of them. I love these ones because their heavy duty and the grip heads have the metal teeth on them that lock it in really well which gives me peace of mind in terms of safety. I’ve left a link to the C-stands I like to use below. I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching the video and for reaching out, it truly means a lot. Cheers, my friend! @@foxandcrowncreative Thank you you very much! I really appreciate the help

Great video! This made my lens decision way easier. do you see any quality differences when buying brands like Sigma or Viltrox for lens? I'm getting a Sony ZV-E10 and it is my first Sony. I was told the Sony kit lens for that camera is bad so I'm looking an alternative on a budget. Still a beginner and really trying to learn all I can so I appreciate the video and any advice!
Thank you so much! That’s awesome I’m so glad the video could help. That’s a great question! For me personally, I don’t see any quality differences when using Sigma or Viltrox lenses. I haven’t had a lot of experience with Voltox lenses, but I really loved the Sigma lens I had and would usually reach for it on most projects. Definitely a great buy. I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching the video and for reaching out! It truly means a lot. Cheers, my friend!
@@foxandcrowncreative thank you! Definitely going for sigma! I’m using your channel as my film journey guide. Again, thanks for sharing your insight! Looking forward to your next upload
That’s awesome, great choice with the Sigma! Absolutely, I’m happy could help!
Thanks for the ideas. I'm new to videography, keen to learn more so subscribed. As a long term photographer I think I already understand composition and to some extent lighting. I recently bought a lot of kit quite good video kit and trying to find time to practice, learn and get better. I'm also trying to get up to speed with sound, but yet to touch colour grading and serious editng (DaVinci).. I now know enough to realise that 'story' is king, good sound vital and visuals, whilst less important, can still 'knobble' the end result if not considered in context of story. I also joined an amateur film society in a nearby city to start networking, assist on projects and practice. I enjoyed what you showed in terms of lighting and shot design. IMO (I'm still a bit green) I felt your interior was a tad dark and might have benefited from a stop more exposure? But I can see the problem with the bright window. Would a fine black net help control window intensity, or perhaps there is more power in your lights (you mentioned only running at a low %).
Absolutely it’s my pleasure, I’m so glad the video could help! That’s awesome, I’m so happy to hear that your a part of a filmmaking community and are hoping on projects. Networking and helping on film sets is a really great way to break into the industry in my opinion. In terms of my lighting, for the window I probably could have used window ND gels, or brightened up my lighting. But I think overall, it’s just a personal preference of mine. I like high contrast ratios and just a darker look overall. For my traditional professional work, it usually depends on the project and the script, most of the time we’ll go a lot brighter with a lower contrast ratio. But with that said, I have been more interested in exploring more of a lifted look in my UA-cam videos lately. So glad to hear you’re getting into the world of filmmaking! I would love to checkout some of your work someday. Thanks again for watching and for subscribing, and for reaching it out, it truly means a lot. Happy filming friend, cheers!

Hi Laura, absolutely it's my pleasure! Wow, thank you so much that truly means a lot to me! It's been a lot of fun making the videos, and it's been super encouraging to see that the videos can help. I've actually watched a lot of your videos as well, so cool to get to connect! You're doing amazing work on your channel for so many! Thank you so much for watching my videos and for reaching out with such kind words and encouragement, it means the world to me, cheers!
Love me some of that giant diffusion dome!
Absolutely! 🙌🏼
Can you do this in post?
Hey, great question! You can actually! At least in Premiere Pro, all you would need to do is duplicate your clip, then stack them, then add gaussian blur to the top clip. In opacity, set your blend mode to screen. Make sure to adjust your blur and opacity levels to your liking because this will determine the intensity of the effect. And that’s it! I hope this helps, thank you for watching my friend, cheers!
@@foxandcrowncreative oh yes now I realize I’ve done this before. Thanks
Absolutely, I'm glad I could help!
