I like so much his idea of criticising this quasi moral / spiritual idea of diving into oneself, ugh! Also, regarding AI: "It is not about whether the AI can be more intelligent than us, but not being stupid in a proper way' Brilliant!
Communist Jesus!
Zizek is sponsored by Coca-Cola? Nice!
Gary and Zizek :)
I. love thissss. Nice mix fo you two. You got my subscription lol
the left really needs to stop writing this man off. he is one of the only guys with an actual path forward that makes sense and is achievable. we gotta look at the project of the left and realize its going nowhere and its in complete shambles. the left has no electoral and political legitimacy. you cant change the world if you dont bring the common man into the fold.
Radical positon?! C’mon! It’s narcissism of victim. Pure defiance toward existance of others. She’s her private god.
I'm not a big fan of this us vs them left Vs right that he is playing in his last couple of interviews . Peterson is also doing it more and more as well but ofc he is right wing and Zizek is left wing. I liked it more when both of them were critical of all political ideology
Magdalene WAS a prostitute, that is the message of redemption. What a misogynistic notion to imply she was there to seduce him. For one cannot accurately assess the mysteries of God lest they are a believer.
If Jesus became an atheist, then he would not have cried out to Father for he would not have believed in him. As we see that he offers his spirit directly after. In that moment, Jesus is showing a human the travails of humanness as an act of compassion. That although we may question God in our suffering, our soul is redeemed through the trials we face.
That's not the point, he was making reference to the sentence "god why have you forsaken me" that's an atheist move for Jesus
that was the most zizek entrance ever 😂
Why should we privilege Hegel's reading if Christianity? Would luke to see Zizek have a dialogue with an Orthodox priest.
Zizek might be a crazy cultural critic philosopher, but he's certainly the most original, involved, and endearing kind of crazy there is.
All these communist hipsters living in western countries instead of moving to Venezuela or Cuba is just the peak of absurdity and hypocrisy.
Doesn’t have to be Soviet style communism like those. Cooperatives and health care and free education and public transit is enough communism.
@@goekhanbag If its built on a free-market economy its no communism or anything close. Also there is no such thing as free education, someone always has to pay for it.
@@exocet8834 Yes, I mean cooperatives for merit goods. If it was a true free market economy for housing and education and health care and mobility, most people wouldn’t be able to afford it. By using communism in these cases it works out. There are housing cooperatives where you don’t have a landlord that profits from the rent. And public transit is always subsidized, it would cost financially more than it earns with just ticket sales. It however enables mobility to everyone, which has strong systemic effects. That’s what I mean.

Man lives always "dangerous and strange times", there´s nothing new in this sense. Secondly , every "thinker" is too "bourgeous" these days, drinking coca -cola at the same time when trying to be "wise" man, come on! I´m not buying this. At least Zizek is better than JP , but that is not much.
Slavoy is stuck up his Hegelian butt, he does not see the obvious, like the so called "pandemic" was precisely the way capitalism works today - Pfizer earning 100 billion by corrupting governments worldwide to introduce this pseudo-emergency state, while the pseudo-vaccines and lockdowns did more harm then the actual virus itself. Same goes for his global warming bullshit. There is no "environmental catastrophy". It's ideology coined by the green capitalists to subsidize their solar panels and wind farms from tax money. You are not a leftist if you can not comprehand this. This is what it means to be "christian" today - you look into the abyss of no hope, where all of it, especially UN/IPCC/WHO is the embodiment of global capitalism. Socialism should become a dirty word. Those who still believe in some state solution, in voting this or that "representative" (that is someone who has no intellectual qualifications, but knows how to appeal to masses) are the same that legitimize the current system. Dictatorship, yes, but not on the WHO/UN conditions. Catastrophism, emergency state, is how capitalism always worked. There is nothing new to emerge through this, only more direct forms of fascism, more exploitation, less freedom. I gave up completely. No children, no political plans, no allies. If there is a solution to all that, it has to be a moral one, a "change of heart" in majority of people. So that we are on the same page when it comes to MORAL VALUES. Zizek precisely fails in this regard. He never openly speaks about his moral values. You can not build any community without clearly stated moral values, because without moral values, you can not build any law. That's why current corrupt system which follows the rewritten Roman feudal laws is a perverse immoral language of sustained exploitation. The task of the left is to rewrite law in the spirit of clearly defined logical hierarchy of moral values, of which (my humble proposition) the Freedom, Truth & Intelligent Life (distinct from the rest of nature) are the top values, balanced in the trialectic typical of Lacanian formulas symbolized by Borromean knot. This is a task for linguists, for philologues, philosophers of language. Because all this world runs on words, on quality of words written into law. Go into law school, into politics, write the law according to your conscience (would be nice if you develop one in the process). This is the only way. Even if emergency state happens, or war, or worse, we need to have the new constitution, the new logical, carefully thought out legislature ready for introduction. This is the only viable way for any change in this system. Because the core of all problems is idiotic, morally bankrupt and perverted language of law. Who today thinks renting flats and houses should be illegal? Or lending money for profit (usury)? Medieval times seen laws like that, which were based in moral values. Why can't we have them today?
Slavoj needs to look into alternative healthier cola! smh
THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE HUMAN NATURE.
The Piers Morgan of cultural theory.
Whoever is the sound guy, get another for next time. What's the point with the mic half a meter away from the speaker...
what is the name of the movie guys? i didn't hear it quite well
The Rapture (1991) with Mimi Rogers (and David Duchovny!)
Guys, this was clearly not intended as a serious debate or lecture, it's a pop culture show happy to remain at the surface. And that's fine. If you're looking for serious Zizek, read the Sublime Object of Ideology.
Well said. I'd add that this is true of most Zizek videos. I remember the first time I saw him give a serious lecture on Hegel. It became very clear that he's taking his pop philosophy far less seriously, and such is the virtue of his public commentary.
Not putting any pop filter in front of Zizek's mic is a crime haha
Well done Sydney. Thanks for the upload.

Same jokes
He is 75. You'll get there eventually...
The young lady is up there for decorative purposes? Could had been another one on the other side too, for symmetry.
What a horrible comment
And your comment is up here for ignorant purposes? Could had been another misogynistic sad guy in the comments for symmetry.

Christian Atheism......whut?
Yeah if you read his book about it you will understand
Very intresting ❤
Please read the Gospels before you buy what Zizek is selling about the teaching of Christ (on His second coming and the role of the Holy Spirit).
What is Zizek teaching about Christ?
@@Jomchen if you’re a Christian, you’ll know the things that he says are false. If you’re not a Christian, just do some googling about the doctrine of Christ’s second coming and what the Gospel is about. It’s not what Zizek is describing.
According to Slavoj Zizekt, the new mantra of "Christian Atheism" is now an integral part of the Republican Trump political party. The use of Christian symbols and rituals are now being used to explain the Trump universe without a living reality of a God.
But know that the tactic changed, yet I withhold my rights to power (only if extremely necessary) which means very rarely. I'd influence others, and everyone has a right to a cause
America is being lead by someone with alzhemir hahaaa F U AGAIN
Sorry, but Slavoj is only a few points ahead of Jordan Peterson these days .. oh how the mighty have fallen... I think he should start working on his quantum physics book because i heard all his current talking points almost a decade ago
A few points ahead of Peterson? Maybe if you're talking about ability to entertain an audience, but in terms of philosophy and an understanding of religion Peterson doesn't even come close. Peterson's rambling about the "biblical corpus" is a shallow attempt to branch out to and use religion to justify conservative dogma. There is no comparison.
Yeah, it sucks that Zizek hasn't seem to grow much. Since he loves film, I would compare him to Tarantino. I still love their work, but also understand that there is a certain limitation to what they do.
'Intellectual' Posh people's Emperor , naked as usual.
She is so pretty
Is that a poor attempt at a subtle jibe or just a straightforward statement of opinion?
@@JapanFoundu don’t have to be a non literalist so unsubtly
Zizek's inversion schtick is getting so old at this point.
Zizek's zschtick seems to be 'look I'm so inscrutable I must therefore be a major intellectual'.
The second part is implied by you, which means maybe he is succeeding, no?
When he gives talks it's always with all these detours which can make it had to follow. He never seems to "get to the point" of what he wanted to say. His written work also has a lot of different ideas, but it's a lot more "scrutable".
The hypocrisy of sitting there obviously sponsored by Coke. Total fraud
It is reference to one of his documentaries, but he very well might have a Coke sponsorship.
Possibly sponsored by coke, but highlighting the sordid history of the company as soon as he possibly could.
It's just a stupid kind of inside joke. There is no way coca cola thinks Zizek is a great way to move product. He's famous for a philosopher but only for a philosopher.
“This is the beginning of a beautiful hatred” 😂
Psst women like casual sex. (Tragically enough Slavoj had to miss out on that.)
The Coke really? Tasteless.
That interviewer seems like a very nice and attractive young woman!
And her twin sister sitting in the first row...? Yess, one can easily feel resurrected again throwing brilliant ideas to the audience with ease and pleasure!
@@pavlestajdohar4377 Agreed!
What a load of simplistic bullshit.
expand on this please
I really want to talk to this man over a few bottles of rachiu. He's just the loveliest person.

Zizek quite has something to say to which I can fully agree. However Don't buy his moralistic pseudo universalism when it comes to Germany. Not even radically pro Palestinian protesting students get an exmatriculation for their more than disturbing protest and antisemitic acts inside universities ! Who then wants to believe, that jews losing their jobs in germany due to a too Palestinian friendly attitude. Sometimes even Zizek isn't Zizekian enough.
Zionism and genocide apologists are the prime drivers of anti semitism today. Stop slaughtering children and maybe you will be seen differently.
14:40, The face of the girl says it all: What have we signed up for? One of the greatest philosophers that this century will ever see!
Exactly. True Philosophers are never afraid of not looking politically correct. Some things simply have to be uttered.
@@IvoMaropo What are you even talking about?
I’ve never seen anyone other than Sydney match zizek's energy so well.
