Welp, I was playing the trumpet in this show. My buddy Chris Obarski was the drum major. I remember he was upset because the mace got caught in his uniform while he was spinning it.

Thank you for posting these old films from the Sugarland’s visitor center. They bring back wonderful memories of visiting the park as a child. I grew up in Clinton Tennessee and visited the park perhaps 1000 times. There was another film that they used to show at the Sugarland visitor center entitled ‘Sanctuary’. I have looked for that film for many years and I am wondering if you remember it or have ever heard of it. Again, thank you.

The original film shown in the visitor center was better.

I just uploaded a video and apologized for the fourth year in a row. I would like to say I am sorry and didn't think you were going to get upset. You can buy this DVD in the gift shop of the sugarlands visitor center in the park. I watch it all the time. I wish I could find a CD of the music in this video. I read that Lucinda Ogle lived to be 93 years old!

Thank you, Jillshelicopter!! I grew up a "river rat" on the Ohio, and loved (and still love) river steam vessels of all types, but this one slipped past me altogether. What a beautiful boat!! As for "knots" being "affected", yes, it is....it's called Tradition, and is the mark of a professional in any field. Why assume your education stopped when you graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy? Maintaining the terminology helps keep history alive in the minds of future generations. T

The show is excellent but poor show of true sportsmanship when Arkansas State took the field and was booed. The fans need to learn respect especially since the game had nt yet begun. I'm an Ohio State Buckeye fan but enjoy the VOLS anyway.

im still in high and its only my 2nd yr there. im in the band and i plan on doing this when i go to college. i live in the great state of tennessee. my band director is the frist woman to be the drum major for the ut marching band. im glad to have her as my teacher.

@webraider72 If you really just said OSU is okay, then I have lost all respect for you and your father as musicians. And "we" were not comparing to Tennessee. I don't care that you went to FSU or about your father. He seems to be your only claim to fame and you're using his achievements to justify your crediblity when FSU and florida dont have the musical prestige of the big ten. And it just might be possible that that UT director was an OSU alum that was in the band...and speaks about UT to us

@webraider72 You're a band director..and you just said dude. I will put OSU up against FSU any time. Listen to their recordings, not even close. OSU is more technical and far more blended. You and your father can think what you want but a degree from UT isn't a huge thing. I'll keep mine from OSU. know many FSU grads that go up here now, they don't even argue. And the trombones in OSU's band are quite strong.. i encourage you to take a listen since you are a "band director". sad. really sad.

Remember,speeds on the river are measured in statute miles per hour.Since the river runs between land,it seems a little affected to use blue water terminology.It's REAL confusing to guys who'd been to the Merchant Marine Academy and then come work on the river.

Even though I am not a UT fan I still LOVE the Fight Song, I even have it on my MP3 Player.
