Probably best known worldwide from the singing of Luke Kelly of the Dubliners, the song Peggy Gordon first appears as a broadside ballad in New York and Boston in the early 1800s. It was recorded in 1959 for the Folkways album "Canadian Folk Song" by Canadian singer Alan Mills, and has been recorded by a wide range of artists since then. Donald learned this song in his teens, from recordings of Roy Williamson of The Corries.
