How to Write '楽' - Kanji for Comfort and Ease | Shodolove Japanese Calligraphy #japaneseculture
楽 (らく / ラク / raku) carries multiple meanings in Japanese, depending on context and pronunciation. Here are some of the key meanings:
Ease/Comfort - As “raku,” it conveys a sense of comfort, relaxation, and lack of difficulty. For example, 楽な仕事 (raku na shigoto) means an easy or comfortable job.
Enjoyment/Fun - 楽 also refers to joy and enjoyment. You might hear it in phrases like 楽しい (tanoshii), meaning "fun" or "enjoyable."
Music - When pronounced as “gaku,” it’s associated with music, as seen in 音楽 (ongaku), which means "music."
In calligraphy and aesthetics, 楽 often evokes feelings of peace, contentment, and simplicity. It’s a versatile character that embodies both ease and joy in various aspects of life.

    Thank you for uploading more of these! I had forgotten that I subscribed earlier this year, so it was a real positive surprise to see them on my sub-feed. It is so much easier to remember kanji when given context and examples of when/how they’re used and pronounced, and I would love to see more!

    Anyway, the Hiragana character So has two ways to write. It could be either: the shape of a Latin letter Z and then the curve, or the short diagonal line then the acute angle and then the curve. You can choose either the two of them, but be prepared to see it both ways when it is written.

    Why do most of the kanji look so different when written, compared to the kanji that is typed (like in the video title)?

    • @Shodolove
      @Shodolove 3 роки тому

      Good question! I think written Kanji especially Japanese calligraphy has many rules to follow. So when you follow the rules, written Kanji looks all similar. However typed kanji has not much rules to follow. So there are so many different styles. Here is the examples I created for you. www.shodolove.com/kanji-examples
