    In the end the Greek empire devaited to the Romans at the west , the Parthians at the cender and the Yujin (chinese nomads) to the east! All the Greek empires who came from THE ONE Greek empire fall the one after the other! What a shame , for as , the Greeks! That is a shame! We had the strongest infandry of the world (Phalanx) and the strongest cavalry of the world (Heteroi Cataphracts) and we lost to all those 3 barbarian nathions! Shame on , to as the Greeks!

    @WolfOfIberia Yes you are right mate! The Greek Seleucid Empire was the best by far! Becouse the Greek Seleucid Empire last until 60 b.c. SO both Greek states last long! The deference is that the Greek Ptolemaic Empire was not an empire but just a strong greek state! The Greek Seleucid Empire was the REAL powerfull Greek empire! So Seleucid empire was better and the only one who could unite ALL the Greeks from Great Greece and Mother Greece to the New Greece of Bactria! But then the romans came and this is an other story!

    Thank you for doing this video. I’ve been looking for information on this group of people because I knew they ended up in Iberia. • @WolfOfIberia
      @WolfOfIberia Місяць тому

      @@pigeon4481 I don't think I understand the question. But Ill try to answer. The General decides when and where to fight. If you're talking about both armies (Attacker and Defender) it really depended on the manouvering of both forces. Sometimes the defender took a position that forced the enemy to attack. Sometimes the attacker was able to pin the defender in a less than ideal position. Situations where both armies agreed on a field of battle are uncommon. I believe this happened with some frequency in ancient greece tough I cannot tell you how frequently. And I'm not aware of it being a practice in any other time and place.

    History it filled with lies so much so everyone is felling for it and without any studies they write or make videos like this with false information. There never were Greek Roman wars they were Illyrians Roman wars. Epire never was greek. If you know the history of Pyrro of Epire you understand that he was an Illyrian not greek. Balkan up to 19th century was called ILLYRIAN Peninsula. Even names known as greeks Pyrro Akili Hektor Apherditi Hera and many more are used even today in Albanian people and not in greek people. So go and learn the truth before you spread the lies futher.

    When the phalanx is correctly supported by other units, it becomes unbeatable. In this battle, we can observe how the Spartan commander employed the classic Greek formation, a strategy also utilized by renowned Greek generals such as Miltiades the Athenian, Alexander the Great, King Pyrrhus and other Greek generals. The formation consisted of a strong right flank, a weaker left flank, while the center was tasked with occupying and absorbing the main and fiercer enemy attacks until the remaining units could flank and encircle the enemy, a tactic known as "double envelopment." This strategic maneuver was later adopted by Hannibal, who used it effectively to overcome the larger Roman forces. Xanthippus also noticed that the Carthaginians had relinquished the initiative to the Romans. The Romans were plundering and destroying everything in their path without resistance. The Carthaginians had ceded water supplies and access to food to the Romans. Xanthippus promptly deployed units to disrupt Roman raiding parties, capturing and blocking all water supplies and food access points. Once his army was prepared to engage the Romans, Xanthippus confronted them on the battlefield. Among the Carthaginian soldiers, he strategically positioned experienced Greek mercenaries to receive orders and lead the troops.

    I'm reading Livy and Polybius and the way battles were described, I highly doubt the checker board formation. The formation has gaps and men in the past were very susceptible to sudden panic and route.

    I'm very good at the game but I never managed to finish the campaign with numidia so I tried last year. I was doing quite well in Carthage but the Roman Empire invaded me, I had to abandon the African cities and focus on Egypt. As usual Egypt has 99999999 units but I managed to cross it by almost 10 units. I went straight to Antioch because my last city was under siege. Then Egypt began to attack me and I created a new army and went to Asia Minor conquering a landlocked city and losing Antioch. At this point I could no longer afford to recruit anything, and I decided to leave for a rich region but I had no fleet to reach Greece. I crossed Armenia without fighting, I was harassed by the Scythians, arriving in Dacia where the Thracians were fighting with the Roman Empire. I continued to conquer barbarian cities only to destroy them. I ended up in the Germans where I was ambushed. Land migrations are really cool.

    The Etruscans nation are Swarty complexion not pale skinned

    • @WolfOfIberia
      @WolfOfIberia 2 місяці тому

      The Etruscans were a mixture of WHG, EEF, and Steppe ancestry; 75% of the Etruscan male individuals were found to belong to haplogroup R1b (R1b M269), especially its clade R1b-P312 and its derivative R1b-L2, whose direct ancestor is R1b-U152, while the most common mitochondrial DNA haplogroup among the Etruscans was H. What does WHG and EEF mean? WHG stands for Western Hunter-Gatherers, and EEF stands for Early European Farmers. Western Hunter-Gatherers (WHG): These were the people who lived in Europe during the Mesolithic period, roughly between 11,000 and 5,000 years ago. They were primarily hunter-gatherers, relying on hunting, fishing, and gathering wild plants for food. Early European Farmers (EEF): These were the people who migrated into Europe from the Near East during the Neolithic period, beginning around 9,000 years ago. They brought with them agricultural practices, including the cultivation of crops and domestication of animals, which gradually replaced the hunter-gatherer lifestyle in Europe. The mixture of WHG and EEF ancestries in the Etruscans indicates a genetic blending of these two distinct populations, along with contributions from Steppe ancestry, which refers to the people from the Pontic-Caspian steppe who migrated into Europe during the late Neolithic and early Bronze Age. Given this, it's unlikely you're correct. Not that it matters, I don't really care what skin color they were, but you're factually incorrect according to genome analysis.

    They did fight in tri-plex acies its not a computer game man there would be multiple thrusts until one side broke and ran, at some point their would be a lull in the fighting and the first wave would catch their breathe and rotate in between the maniples while the seconded wave engaged. Also the seconded would become fatigued and when they need a break, the hastati who had time to catch their breath could relieve them and this would happen probably many times throughout the battle by the different types of infantry. Its something you could not re-create in total war you are thinking about ancient warfare with a 3d total war map in mind this did not exist in antiquity. But still informative.

    • @WolfOfIberia
      @WolfOfIberia 2 місяці тому

      I really doubt they fought in triplex accies. But I do admit this is still debated and perhaps, who knows they did. The main reason I find it unlikely to fight in checkerboard formation is simple: After impact the gaps are filled with the enemy. And while you encircle the enemy within the gap. The enemy in turn encircles your units in the front. I'm not saying it never happened, but I find it unlikely and risky especially since the guys in front were the most inexperienced and prone to breaking when encircled on 3 sides. A possible reason to order the men in triplex is that it should be easier to identify all cohorts\units if they're isolated from all sides thus being easier to access the situation and order of battle before commiting to the battle formation. Other peoples didn't do this BUT the Romans had a very particular army management situation going. The most accepted theory is that they would approach the enemy in triplex, and once in skirmishing distance, the infantry would deploy into lines while the skirmishers screened the main army. And in fact if we study Roman battles the fighting always seems to be done in a line. As far as rank rotation goes, it's possible to do it without triplex accies. I've seen it depicted as the first line, going into the back and the second line advancing and so on. One line of men at a time every few minutes so the guys in the first rank never stay there for more than 5 to 10 mins at a time. But again, nobody really knows how it was done, just that it was done at some point but probably only started after the professionalization of the Roman Army in the 1st century BC to 1st AD. The lul in the fighting you describe, I actually haven't read about it in any of the depictions of Roman battles specifically, maybe I'm just not that well read on this topic. But I've read about it in a general sense and it seems that it happened but, again, I'm not sure this was the norm as it's hardly ever referenced.

    Wildstar had the best housing, no contest. Huge plot of land, ability to put in puzzle games, crafting and gathering stations, mini dungeons, freeform building with tons of pieces, a few premade homes but the ability to build pretty much anything, an Architect profession literally dedicated to housing improvement, no monthly payments or possibility to lose your home (like LOTRO or FF XIV, which are otherwise great as well, especially with the whole neighborhood idea), no stupid prices to to limited offer and huge demand (like FF XIV) and everyone gets their housing plot... RIP WIldstar. The focus on hardcore endgame was its downside. As for New World, the housing is alright, but the game itself is awful and getting worse. What the best housing is right now, I don't know.

      There's actually more on this. The Tarentines were actually not united in the decision to call Pyrrhus, many having been swayed not to by one named Meton. But eventually the ones siding with calling Pyrrhus won and some people opposing this were banished from Taras. Then a decree was passed around Southern Italy and the request for Pyrrhus intervention was signed by multiple factions. The Tarentines, Samnites, Lucanians and Messapians. Both Dionysius of Halicarnassus and Plutarch (Paralel Lives) write of this episode. It is important to note, however, that both these historians lived about 2 centuries after the fact.

    The problem with TW is that the grand startegy part is really shallow and that the rts battles get boring quickly due to the very poor AI. The loop itself (conquer, grow, recruit, repeat) isn't bad but it needs to be way more fleshed out with a lot of meaningful choices to make that make the system a bit more complex. Imperator Rome is probably the best map painter game out there with a really good blend of cohesive mechanics that make the painting fun.

    As per the literature from both Ancient Romans and other Hellenic historians,geographers and historiographers yes...Rome and generally italy has been inhabit from different Greek waves. First wave with Pelasgians-Aborginites and laconias from thessaly and peloponnese. Second wave with Arcadian king Oenotrius 9 generations before trojan war. Third wave with Arcadian Evander (First settler of Rome) and Heracles 60 years before the trojan war. fourth wave with Diomides, Odysseus and Aeneas and Etruscans who were Greeks from Aegean islands and minor coast of anatolia as per Herodotus, strabo and others. Final wave with Archaic-Classical Sparta,Corinth, and Athens. Overall, They have all agreed that Romans origin was from Arcadia and later mixed with the rest of the Greek migrated tribes. Back in Ancient Roman empire, having an Arcadian origin was considered very prestigious aswell(you were automatically become famous)..as it was the place origin of the founder Romans... And Arcadians were flexing about it to other Greek mainlanders.

      But unfortunately,many countries like Romania,are trying to claim that they descent from the romans,also germany,have you ever heard of holy roman empire,charlemagne claimed that his country descent from the romans.Of course,all of this is a lie,the country that is the continuation of the roman empire is greece,the romans were greeks.

      And the first language of the romans according to many roman and ancient greek authors was the greek language.And the Latin language is the continuation of the Aeolian dialect, ancient authors have said that latin and Aeolian dialect are very Similar and that is true.

      @@Euphanes Romanians are dacians and its very pathetic to have such a claim as they have nothing to prove about it. As for the charlatan charlemagne he had to claim something from romans like the peasantry aeolic dialect aka LATIN(known but rarely used by the Greek tribes as per Dionysius hallicarnasus ) to think that he had a connection with romans while he was a frank to generating a prestigious kingdom compared to the real deal in the east which he was unable to match. It would be fun for europeans to know that Romans spread to eu the secondary peasantry language to them instead of the language of senate basically, the official roman language of founder romans (Greek) because they were viewed as degeneratives by them.... Julius Ceasar at some point wanted to cancel latin completely.

      And something else the Arcadia was paying less tax than the other cities because romans honoured this city very much because they knew it was the place of their origin. (I am not very sure but the only sure thing is that the Romans honoured the arcadians and Arcadia because it was the place of their origin).

    In between!!!: The concept is good, story is fun, but just like with almost every Total War Game, it needs polishing!!! 1. They need to lower the power level of other factions to a level where it's possible to compete!!! 2. They need to bolster recourses so you have more freedom to play!!! 3. They need to lower cost of Resources needed for anything!!! 4. They need to lower the cost of Gold on conquest!!! Gameplay needs to be easier, especially when you play on easy!!!
