Thanks for sharing your video, Kris! I recently bought my 3 year old granddaughter a scooter and I'm thinking of buying one too. Once she learns, we can go scootering together! The only thing that holds me back a bit is that I have problems with my right hip. It's not a major problem but it plays up. I hope the scootering won't make it feel worse. But I really want to give it a go!

@@dilemmixI hope you enjoy it. I don’t know anything about hip problems and scootering. But I would advise that you make sure you can rest both your feet on the foot pad to rest while you are gliding. It is good to switch which foot kicks every now and then if you can so you don’t end up with muscular imbalance. Try not to favor one side too much if you are able. Also, how high off the foot plate is from the ground will affect your stance when kicking. I’m not sure how important that might be or not with hip problems. I know it is important for knee problems. Good luck!

Really cool video! I also ride a kick scooter and can understand your enthusiasm. I have the Razor A6 kick scooter.

@@samcha-rc7525 Thanks :) If you feel like posting it, I’m wondering how high the foot plate (where your foot would rest - not the bottom clearance) is from the ground. I don’t like to bend my knee very much and wonder how it would work for me .

Hello, I am riding an adult micro kickboard. (You can see them at microkickboard.com). I have had it for over 10 years. Very durable. All I’ve ever done is occassionally tighten up some bolts. The tires are solid.

Can you show us how to ride safely with feet side by side, rather than one foot behind the other. Can you put your foot on the edge of the scooter to kick off or do you have to start in the middle and then slide over to make room? Thanks

Hi, Very good question. I put on extra wide shoes just now and took my scooter out to see how I handle this. I think you are right about some sliding over being involved. Unless you have a wide footboard. I put the ball of one foot next to the instep of the other foot. That way there is less of my feet off the scooter when both are on deck. To switch feet I tend to put more weight on the back of the deck foot and pivot on the heel of that foot, bringing the ball of that foot out a bit to make room for the new foot to join it. Then when I decide to kick with the first foot and not glide with both feet on the platform, I can pivot on a bit on the second foot bringing the heel more into a straight line. So I notice I tend to join the platform with more ball and less heel, but leave the platform with more heel and less ball. However, when first starting out I just plant one foot in the middle of the platform and the other foot kicks. I pivot my feet slightly to adjust as needed. I think it will be a matter of going slow and experimenting to see what works best for you. I hope this helps. If I can, I’ll try to make a quick film about foot placement and changing. The people who helped me before with video filming and editing returned to their country. Perhaps I will be able to do something in the future.
