Limbus Company Season 1 Overview
Limbus Company has finished with their 1st Season. Was it everything a PM fan could hope it would be? Is it new-fan friendly? This video should have answers to those questions.
Also, because this video was finished by the time that PM released their Chapter 4 preview video and patch notes, all I can offer here is that I am more confident with the direction that Project Moon is taking with the game and the balancing of their content and implore everyone to give this game their time. #limbuscompany

    I only watched this a few days ago and tend to agree with you. As low budget movie, it's real achievement, and from a producing/financing point of view, this is brilliant concept. A man builds a cardboard maze in his bedroom, and we only shoot either in the bedroom, or within the maze (apart from the final shot). As you said, the sets are fantastic and continually inventive and different. The puppets and the dinner scene are great. The lead actor and the video director are both extremely good. However, the lack of any real comedy, or characterization, does mean you lose interest after a while. Which is a real pity.

  • @FrozenSpector
    @FrozenSpector Рік тому

    With all due respect, the vapidness perceived is not true or the point. The unfinished projects are a metaphor for navigating his failing relationship alluded to in the repeated dinner scene where they say one thing, do the other, but still continue to “keep going”. If he could finish a project, he should also finish the relationship he is dragging on and on into nowhere.

    You're absolutely right. There is a lot I really liked about the film but it had too many characters who get lost in the plot while the true meaning of the maze, or labrynth, as it were, is neglected. Even they mystery of Dave himself, who begins as just a voice within the maze was revealed way, way too early. This should have been a journey into an artists inner pschye with the big reveal as Dave at the centre who can leave at ant time but is more content to stay stuck inside his own head/ creation. It could and should have been a Kaufmanesqe masterpiece rather than a lost episode of Community.

    • @MrStaleman
      @MrStaleman Рік тому

      I am most partial to this being the artists inner psyche. It would have had a much stronger impact on the main tension we see in the beginning of the movie with Dave creating unfinished products.

  • @nekomancer47

    Great video! I just happened to beat the game today and was curious about the other endings (I got the Cardinal ending). I watched a video showcasing the other endings, and after that is when I stumbled upon this video. I love your review about the themes of the game. I know I loved the game too, but given that it’s just so unique and strange and goofy and cosmic, it was actually pretty hard for me to put into words what exactly it was that I loved about it. But as you spoke I found myself agreeing with what you were talking about! Very eloquently put! I actually appreciate how Moonana crafted the “villain” of Gemini for the Mutable path, because, honestly, if I were in Virgo’s shoes…I probably would’ve sided with her. The end of all life as we know it is a terrifying thing to consider, especially since we won’t ever know what, if anything, will come to exist after we are gone. In my opinion, it’s far more worth it to try to reach for that 0.0000001% chance that we can save the universe than to allow it to fall into the void and pray that something new will show up after we cease to exist. Of course, Gemini’s plan was basically to just keep hitting the reset button until she managed to get lucky and find a way out of oblivion, essentially letting the apocalypse replay over and over again as people suffered and died millions of times. But, from a certain point of view…were they *really* suffering? Only Gemini, the indexers, and a select few others were aware of the resets. For the common people and the other zodiacs, they saw only the life they were currently living. So even though they were dying over and over again, it’s really Gemini and the others who were in on it that were suffering. They had to constantly watch their loved ones die, probably millions of times, remembering each iteration of the dying universe. That’s gotta be hell… Maybe Gemini never would have been able to rescue the universe. Maybe it was all just sunk cost fallacy; rationalizing to herself that a rescue was possible and that she could reach it given some time, because, if she just gave up, then all of her suffering would be for naught. But while it’s impossible to know if the universe could be saved, it’s also impossible to know if anything would come to exist after it perished. All that to say, I kind of found myself agreeing with the “villain” of this game, even if she was kinda crazy and assholish 😅 Anyways, I’ve rambled long enough. Great video, and I’m glad to have found someone else very passionate about this game! Wish you all the best!

    • @MrStaleman
      @MrStaleman 2 роки тому

      Thank you for your insightful comment! I'm glad that Moonana's story touched you in the same way that it touched me. I can understand the perspective of Gemini being tortured by the idea of millions upon millions of people dying on each reset but the story suggests otherwise. She views their sacrifice as not worth her consideration, because ultimately any amount of life can be justifiably sacrificed for her goal of prolonging this universe. While I'd say it's altruistic if her motivations were to save the universe for the people, she's prolonging the universe for her own selfish motivations. But that's my own rambling. Again, I'm glad that you enjoyed the video and hope you have a wonderful day!

    I think everyone gets drawn in by the visuals and set design, but when they get further into the movie they're hit with mediocrity of the plot. Also for the record while I didn't find it funny at most parts I understood the humor. It just seems like a movie that came out waaaay past its genre's era

    • @MrStaleman
      @MrStaleman 2 роки тому

      I agree. I understood a lot of its humor but didn't find much of it compelling. If it'd been released in the early 2000's I might have given that aspect of the film more of a pass, but as you've pointed out, the plot really is an anchor to what is otherwise a passable film.

    I really prefer the first game. The second got far too convoluted for me, and the mechanics aren't really for me either. Also I'm still salty that we are in any way supposed to feel bad for Angela who ruined everything IN THE LAST MOMENT FOR NO REASON OTHER THAN SHE SUCKS xD Angela doesn't deserve to achieve her goals. She doesn't deserve pity. I just hate her so much xD

    • @MrStaleman
      @MrStaleman 2 роки тому

      I respect your opinion. I preferred the game mechanics in this game as the whole Sim management of the first didn't grab me as much as this did. As for whether Angela deserves a happy ending, from my perspective (watching the cutscenes of the first game in their entirety midway through playing the second game) I think that her lash out was a foregone conclusion. She's a victim of neglect a symbol of A's failures and she's forced to monitor the dreams of a person that did not care for her. I'd have been surprised if she allowed the plan to succeed. And I think the second game does a lot to call out the bad moral implications of her decision while still giving her the ability to grow beyond her mistakes. Where the first game followed the reconciliation and growth of our Yesod, Malkuth, Hod and the rest, this second game looks to reconcile the internal struggles of Angela and Roland and ultimately provide them with the closure they need, which is very poetic. I like that the games bleak world is offset by a message that healing through trauma although painful and messy is necessary towards making a better world.

    • @toolatetothestory
      @toolatetothestory 2 роки тому

      @@MrStaleman I can understand why Angela would be pissed at A, but she basically went "The world should stay in the apocalypse who cares about literally all of humanity suffering, I got Daddy issues". I just can't stand characters who excuse such horrendous actions with trauma (or their devs do, like with Mystic Messenger. No Rika, an neglective childhood does not excuse making a cult and murdering people) xD I can stand why you would prefer this games mechanics though, as I preferred the first :3 Maybe I should rather blame the devs for making the direct sequel to their game a completely different genre, which bugs people of course who like only one of those genres. It's like as if the Walking Dead would switch to a comedy series halfway through.

    The game also roadblocks you with fights meant to test your skill. Love town has units with specialists in certain damage types, so resistances and a varied deck are needed. The boss also has a passive that gives absurd boosts on one sided attacks, so you need to know how to redirect attacks. Stagger is a must to prevent the boss’s worst attack. In short Love Town is where the game tests your knowledge on the basics, because it only gets crazier from there.

      The first sequence of the final battles also is a final exam for floors.
