Welcome. I love to share choirs from around the northeast of England that I have had some part in either as MD, pianist/organist or singing in. I also play the organ when I get the chance so like to share some of the hymns and music that I play.
I have recently (end of March 2021) taken up the Melodeon and will be posting videos of my progress with that instrument on my channel too. Please don't be too hard on me - it's so very different from anything I have played before! Constructive criticisms and advice most welcome though. Please subscribe and "like" wherever possible
During the COVID19 pandemic, churches who wish to use my material to accompany services, may do so provided that acknowledgement to the original source is provided on your finished production. Any queries, please contact me and note that tracks are available to download free from my other sources.

Fellside Waltz played on my Hohner C#/D Melodeon
Переглядів 473 роки тому
This piece of music was written by me in March 1971 not long before we moved from the house we lived in called "Fellside" on Nursery Lane, Felling, Gateshead. My sister wrote the music for me - I was 9 at the time - and I just re-found it again a few days ago. This rendition is not perfect by any means but I will practice and make it better.... honest!

Melodeons in Masham

A great day out in Masham, North Yorkshire. Was able to join in playing with some of the tunes and recorded these others. The sun kept out until around 4pm when it turned a bit chilly and we had snow and hail on the return journey home but it did nothing to spoil an otherwise very enjoyable day out

As a child I would not go to sleep unless my family sang this to me! Thank you very much!
So pleased to hear this lovely hymn again.
King st junior sang it better.
I have GCF and I learned two songs watching you this one is one of it. I had been very frustrated looking for teachers. There’s basically none available.
OMGoodness! Why are they dragging the hymn? This is a bright and cheery tune. They sound like they singing at a funeral! ☹😮
fantastic! 111 years
A lovely old Hymn we tried to sing it at a church i played at in memory of poor Holly and Jessica i dont think there was a dry eye in the Church something i will never forget

MHB 970: An evergreen hymn of Trust in God. Hear us ALWAYS, LORD GOD ALMIGHTY! ❤🎉❤
Austhorpe school Leeds 1968.the song brings back memories of me singing as a child with classmates all children but know old people life is a brief experience please enjoy it
The songs of heaven ! Would love to know where this was recorded and when. Beautiful !
My sister and I sang this in Choir in our Baptist Church.. So Joyous...✝️
Found the hymn from the A W Tower's book The Crucified Life...
Great to hear this old song but is it playing a bit too fast ?
🙏
Happy memories of a dear lady in my church who always requested this hymn. I haven't heard it for many years.
Unfortunately they were not so hot on sound Biblical theology, hence their demise. And for the same reason the general Methodists are going the same way.
Lovely to hear a congregation singing this tune. It is the one used for our College Hymn at Westminster College London & Oxford.
My word that was great congregational singing
I used to love singing this hymn in the 1960s in churches in the Loftus and Staithes Methidist Circuit to this tune. A wonderful hymn
Bad Chune Brap!!! BRAP!!! Pull it up!!! To God be all the Glory
Is your name Richard Head by any chance ?
Bad Chune!!!! Pull it up!
melodious and meaningful verses
By Far the BEST version of this hymn (A Favourite) on YT at present, Would have benefited with the addition of the Words :-)
Thank you Richard for this upload - wonderful chapel singing - I am using the audio for our Harvest services in Bishop Auckland this year. I hope it is still ok to use your uploads as we are now hybrid in our worship - on UA-cam and in church as well as continuing on local radio.
Thank You Jesus. Amen ⚘
Some foreign company has claimed "copyright" infringement on the use of this tune - it was written in 1765 and is therefore well outside of copyright - watch this space!
And what a surprise, not! Their claim has been removed
Wonderful words of life; you said it Brother!
Excellent!!!
Smashing! 😍
Sorry about the dum-de-dum at the end kiddo, I just didn't think!
Stop pulling faces if you make a mistake. You’ve only just started learning it x
Love this! ❤️
I have a cracked copy and have been looking for one for a while. where did you find it ?
sorry, no idea, it was my brother's
Love the pictures that Richard has fit so well with what the ladies are singing about x enjoyed playing for these fun songs first time I've seen this xx
Great to hear people willing to identify themselves with Christ and His work on the Cross
Amen
May the Lord be glorified!
Another old favourite. Thanks.
Wood Street Methodist Church was a ex PrimitiveMethodist Church in Dunston on Tyne, Gateshead noted for it’s style of old ranter singing with even the congregation singing four part harmony, many from tonic solfa hymn books. It closed in 1963 and was demolished about 1983.
Ahhhh! The tonic-solfa books! I learned to sing in the choir from one of those and still have a copy in my collection. Fabulous!
We used to sing Glad Tidings years ago at Wood Street Methodist Church with great gusto. The basso profundo basses thundering out the chorus “ He reigns and triumphs” with more enthusiasm than finesse Thank you Windy Nook for that blast from the past. I thought I’d never hear that this side of the grave. Stan McRae.
Thank you, Stan. This was recorded one choir practice night. There were then 9 left in the choir and I was playing the piano and singing the tenor line, though I am a baritone. My brother's bass voice is very prominent - it was always popular when I was a lad. Sadly, it is now rarely heard though I always try to include it in programmes of music at Beamish Museum when I used to take choirs there - again, sadly none this year because of COVID. I think I have a recording from Toft Hill (ex PM) chapel too - will have to hunt it out!
believe it or not this is my great great grandad
Wow! That is fascinating and thanks for sharing that information
Nice version & like the humour about leaning on the bell push. Was fortunate to meet Leslie Sarony when he appeared in a pantomime at Hull's New Theatre back in 1967. He gave me a signed photo. What make of gramophone is it. Nice sound & looks like it has record storage too.
Hi Paul, thanks for your comment which I only saw today, sorry. How wonderful to meet the man himself! I first got interested in his songs from my sheet music collection and it grew from there. The gramophone is a "Peerless" and yes, it has a good sound particularly with Songster needles or Decca Extra Louds. The storage is only used for 12" records as I don't have many - the 10" are stored under the sideboard - too many of those!
@@richardjennings8809 Fortunately, there are a few videos on YT of Leslie Sarony performing, some solo, some with Leslie Holmes, as 'The Two Leslies' Leslie Holmes, who sometimes appears on the Eclipse label as Roy Leslie, are also worth looking out for. Happy Christmas. Stay safe & well.
Our God contracted to a span, incomprehensibly made man. How wonderful his love.
