What a fantastic memorabilia to remind every Filipino that there was an authentic and legendary Madama Butterfly in the person of Jovita Fuentes in the early 1920s conquering European opera houses!!!

Beautiful piece. I love every movement of Book 1.
Im one of the grand daughter's of Ariston Em Echevarria (correct spelling). Our lolo Taty passed away when I was only 2 years old. My only memory of him was thru a few family photos. I know he was a writer. However, I haven't read most of his work. Thank you very much for sharing.
Brava, I was so lucky to have met her when I was a child. She was my father's voice teacher.
His best recordings are the Mozart piano sonatas.
What year is this recording from?
1928 Parlophone, Germany. If i'm not mistaken.
@@clem4705315 Amazing, thanks! Great that these old recordings of hers are available. I wish there were more studies and media coverage about her achievements.

Always in proportion. Perfect description of Marc-Andre, there's actually nothing more you can say about it, unless you have the heart to criticize his playing before 5 years old.
Lovely playing as always prof!
Thanks doc

Clement Acebedo who is the gentleman beside Mr. Contreras? Thanks.
very nice!
Amazing!!!
He is not at all an interesting anything.....
Assuming good faith and preparedness to change your mind on your part, I'd recommend his performances of the Saint-Saens second concerto or the Schnittke concerto for piano and strings for starters. I'm not a fan of his performances of the standard repertoire (his Symphonic Etudes or Chopin second sonata for example are completely dreadful in my opinion), but he shines in different music.
"80% of an artist's performances are with orchestra?" Who is he talking about? Sign me up for my next orchestral gig! I perform 30 concerts a year--very few orchestral gigs in my life thus far. Still, great to hear Hamelin's teacher speak about. I have been lucky enough to hear Hamelin perform many times in Montreal. He is as gracious a performer as he is a man (incredibly humble!).
I always wondered where he got that information---it might be a piece of outdated info that he'd held on to, but probably true at some point. His background might explain a bit why: Harvey Wedeen's father Nathan W. was heavily involved in Concert Artists Guild (if not the founder; at one point there was a Nathan Wedeen Management Award). HW grew up in a home where artists scheduled for a Carnegie debut would play their program there first for a house concert. At some point he was roommates with Isaac Stern. He was also artistic director of the Temple Music Festival, for which he invited great artists to perform and teach there (Adele Marcus, Leon Fleisher, etc.). He kind of knew the circle quite well.
True and that probably explains a lot. Of course, some of the top touring artists are often invited to perform with orchestra since there are more of those than top-notch recital series. So, maybe that holds true for the upper 1% of concert artists (such as Hamelin--though he actually performs a lot of solo and chamber music concerts). But for the rest of us, we would love more orchestral opportunities...
@@EliasAxelPettersson I think he was referencing top-tier concert pianists. It's probably accurate. I can think of a dozen world famous pianists I've heard with an orchestra but never had the opportunity to hear solo.
I enjoyed this, but it would be nice to have a list of titles and timings.
It is a mark of his brilliance that he plays with a balance and crystalline clarity that immediately attracts you to his sound.
Bravo Clem . . . and CONGRATULATIONS!
I like and enjoy what I hear ....
A favorite of mine .... beautifully played ! ! ! . . . . may kaluluwa ang pagtugtug mo . . CONGRATULATIONS CLEM ! ! stephen
