CfA Colloquium
Приєднався 1 жов 2013
Welcome to the channel for the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics' Colloquium (CfA). These talks are held weekly in Phillips Auditorium at the CfA and cover many aspects of Astrophysics which is current in the research community. These talks are webcast live in 1080P over UA-cam and can be viewed later, except in cases where the presenter has requested that the talk may only be available after the publishing date of their research which is usually a couple of months.
The crew who make these webcasts possible are:

Prof. you have definitely found yourself an exciting niche!
3:20 11:45 23:15 b. D.
I love to learn. I love media that is on my level. I don't know anything about audio setups, but this is bad.
audio taken inside of a tin can. unwatchable.
And here we are in 2024 when this is suddenly popping up all over the place at a somewhat more laymen's level. Why has it taken so long? Physicists get the heebie-jeebies? Didn't want creationists to make hay with this one?
shame about the audio quality. can get maybe 4 in 5 words
Fortunately, Dr. Drabon made the same talk in Nov 2023. It's on the YT channel Virtual Seminars in Precambrian Geology.
Crappy presentation, boring person
Audio and video are essential skills for this era, get it together kids
I had listened yesterday and I don’t remember any major issues? Am I forgetting some AV gaffe in this
Intro segment starts at 13:30, science starts around 17:25.
Intro starts at 4:43, talk starts at 5:30.
Just so good. Pushing what's possible.
Ken is a legend. It's a pity CfA didn't distance itself from the Sacklers.
Thanks!
Started midway through?

Try learning CIG Theory and apply it to your knowledge of Dark Matter. Learn the MTS equation. Within MTS resides Dark Matter, Dark Energy, Black Holes, the Standard Model, and the garlic.
am I acting on this film, hey cheater Google, please proof this
Psychotic Psycho babble, You should be in church, mosk, synagogue preaching religious rubbish. GAs and molecules are not on the quantum level so please take my advice and take your head out of your ignorant arse. Stop promoting yourself as a scientist, Because this video is philosophical as it gives no evidence just assertions and claims to justifies its claims.
Money talks. Mask wearing complainers walk.
The first 8 minutes can be cut to 10 seconds.
Even Earth has been barely habitable.
Great preview of what's coming. Also I see that this LOFAR and SKA project has the same problems that so many other fields have: finding good tech people. Jessica Dempsey didn't mention the possibility of using new/future AI systems to help with that. Bravo for her saying that existing solutions like AWS/Google etc. may save a lot on storage and compute. I am an amateur, enjoying and admiring from outside the field. I love these CfA talks, It's like I can get an insider's perspective and a deep knowledge of how something like LOFAR and SKA are made and structured. Thanks!
It never fails to blow me away how fast the material is moving around the core during the bounce and neutrino boil.
If neutrinos are so weakly interacting, does that mean they are more or less permanently entangled?
thanks for uploading this. If covid did one good thing it is the vast availability of such talks.
Good that someone is keeping track of the satellites.
It's been fluff for more than 17 minutes. I've got to find another presenter to get this information through to me.
It's a pretty big assumption to say that early globular cluster formation is a similar process to recent globular cluster formation.
You don't have video editing at Columbia?
Good presentation..would like to hve seen comparisons with Ceres...if any at all. Are variables in the gravitation show any anaomalies in their mass distribution? Thanks for the mission. Not impressed with launching plutonium as power....unless shielded from a possible craft disassemble in the launch phase from Earth..?? Anyway old news .... UAP's seem to have a faster means of transport for such exploration, maybe tag a ride for future ventures ?? Just height restrictions for passengers it seems. No mirrors broken so 7 more years of good luck...

Thank you for interesting lecture.

So many abusive, sovereign cult, advertiser interruptions. Abusive advertisers offer no way to say 'no' without a monopoly payoff. Abusive advertisers profit from militarily enforced Exclusive Economic Zones, monopoly currency and Apartheid concentration camps full of brown people with black hair.
the Cosmic- dawn refers to cosmos, we do not even have detection methods for the cosmos let alone this rubbish claim. JWST does not look back at the or towards the birth of universe . Currently the james webb telescope is looking across the universe, Not at the point in the cosmos where the big bang started. Please stop turning science into bullshit. The only thing the JWST has shown us is that the current accepted age of our universe is out bye at leas 100,000 billion years. Why are institutes not involved in religion lying their F`ing arses off. Their where no planet`s before at least 5 element's where formed through the supernova of the first stars which where hydrogen only. YOU CANNOT GET PLANETS FROM HYDROGEN, BRIAN COX IS A NUMB NUT LIAR FOR THE DISCOVERY INSTITUTE. CFA is turning into the branch of the discovery institute or PragerU. You are now scumbags and not scientists'.
Starts 07:50
Where do you guys think we stand in planetary defense?
So 14:21 for the introduction, and 15:22 for the beginning of the talk

It's a pleasant surprise for me that when you leave the Solar System, also the _nomenclature of civilization_ assumes new meanings. "Mercedes" and "McDonald's" around other stars apparently do not (only?) denote cars and hamburgers.
