“Of all existing entertainments, musical art is the most unfortunate, inactive, and uninteresting. The true function of music is not to entertain or distract, but to attract, collect, hypnotically concentrate the feelings and thoughts of the listeners. Our muse turns away from those who by their nature are not attracted to her. She punishes with severe boredom those who seek in her but the excitement of idle thought.”

F. Liszt - Un Sospiro
I forgot to upload the whole piece before so i'm doing It now.
Not the cleanest recording in the world but at least i made It.
There is still a lot of room for improvement in this piece but i'll get over It.

The Piano Sonata No. 17 is usually referred to as The Tempest (or Der Sturm in his native German), but the sonata was not given this title by Beethove...

This piece is criminally underrated
It's the most or second most popular etude in the op.39, but I never liked this one for some reason. Probably one of my least favorites in the set, along with 2 and 6.
2:36~2:55 beautiful
6:23
That’s where it picks up. Still like festin d esope more
@@Chipsomedip Likewise.
This sonata has everything; from fiery passion to transcendental tranquility. From relentless struggle to profound fulfilment.
I love this sonata a little too much
too fast
Not difficilt
Who is the pianist?
If I remember correctly, Han-Chien Lee.
Boris Alexandrov?
❤❤❤❤
Amazing vid! Who plays?
Thanks! The performer is Frank Dupree.
@@ClassikalBoi thank you!
Honestly, Liszt was only trying to get as close as possible to wrecking his hands. He is my hopes and dreams and I bet I will play his music soon!
this piece is way early for its time. it sounds like it was composed early 20th century. it sounds more complex and modern especially for Alkan
Who is the performer? Awesome video
1:01 my personal favorite
Why don’t You join chopin compétition ? You could win
Nah I couldn't. Maybe in a couple of years i might have a chance.
